Hash brown patties aren’t limited to breakfast!

Does your family also love these frozen hashbrowns? They remind me of a McDonald’s breakfast, right? We prepare these in the air fryer and they come out so crispy and yummy in only about ten minutes! Turns out they can also make a brilliant side dish or snack outside of breakfast!

Air fryer loaded hash browns are where it’s at!

Consider using these inexpensive patties from your freezer to create a delicious crispy snack or side dish like loaded hash browns! At around $3-$4 for a package of ten they are a steal! Hash brown patties can be an excellent vehicle to pile on cheese and various toppings and to enjoy as a quick meal or bite to eat. I love this idea of adding sour cream, bacon bits, cheese, and onions to crispy hash brown patties.

Trust me when I say, this tastes so fantastic. It’s almost like a baked potato but really crispy and so easy to prepare.

How about pizza hash brown patties?

I have also recently tried making a pizza version and it’s super tasty as well! For this idea, I first cooked the frozen patties in the air fryer and then added pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni. I then added another minute or two of cook time and that was it! So easy and yummy!

What other topping ideas sound good? I would love to try:

  • sliced avocado and everything bagel seasoning
  • sliced turkey deli meat and cheese
  • taco meat, cheese, and pico de Gallo salsa

Extra tips for making loaded hash brown patties:

  • To ensure a crispy texture, I recommend spraying the hashbrowns with a little bit of cooking spray before air frying. I have this glass sprayer and fill it with olive oil. It works perfectly for the purpose of a light spray!
  • All air fryers seem to cook differently. My hash browns are usually done after 5 minutes on each side. Add or subtract a minute or two to the desired doneness.
  • If you need an air fryer suggestion, my Beautiful brand 6 quart air fryer is still going strong and has been my favorite to use. The basket has lasted for years and we love the performance and design.

Any suggestions for those of us who don’t have an air fryer?

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there, Julie! You can also make these in the oven! Just cook the hash brown patties according to the instructions on the package (for these it states 22-24 minutes turning half way through at 425 degrees) Let us know how they turn out if you decide to give it a try! 💞

I have only bought frozen hash browns once, (store brand) and they were not very good. What is a brand that is good?
