We’ve always just had one cat my whole life & I’m in my 40’s. No issues here. Note they will and do love to dig in any potted plants. And might get into any people food left out. Otherwise most are chill.
Call your local animal shelter or rescue and talk with them about this. The good ones know their animals and can recommend a few “independent spirits” for you to meet. 🐈 Kittens are cute but need lots of interaction, so ask about a senior kitty that’s been an inside cat before. Maybe an owner surrender whose human passed away. ♥️ Staff can also recommend toys, etc to keep kitty from getting bored and into trouble — cat tree, window perch to watch birds, scratch posts. Pets can take a month or two to settle in to a new home, relax, and let their true personalities show, so be patient and go slow. The eventual snuggles and companionship and fun are worth the effort!
Cats are so easy to take “care” of. They do most of the work. My cat recently passed at 16. I just adopted 2 cats and it took them 6 days to be comfortable with each other. I really recommend having 2. I hope everything works out.
We have 4 cats and our a military family we are gone a lot even sometimes for days and leave food water and litter box out, cats are very self sufficient 🙂 I have litter robots even for kitty poo 🙂
I saw a video of some homemade ones. I made one of them using a small wooden ladder. It turned out good. My cat loves it. You wrapped the ladder in rope and then used material to make a hammock in the bottom area of the ladder and added a small cat bed to the top.

OK. I know this is off topic but I have a question and this looks like a great place to get some answers. My brother has cancer and I now have custody of his cats. What do you use for fleas….. One cat has them and the other doesn’t. I need a middle priced product if there is such a thing…. Thank you for reading my post and for answering me….
Both cats probably have the fleas, as fleas love to live on cats. Comb them with a flea comb to remove the fleas and the nits. You’ll also need to vacuum and clean/launder anywhere the cats have been on a frequent basis. Talk to the vet about any flea treatments. We used Seresto collars when a visiting animal brought in fleas. It took a week or two of vigilance, but we finally got rid of the infestation.

I’ve rescued cats and the best thing to get rid of the fleas is bathing the cat with Dawn dishwashing liquid. It kills the fleas on contact.
If you want a quick solution until you can get some flea treatment try Dawn dish washing liquid. It is gentle and safe. If you have a cat that gets upset about taking a bath, and is too much to handle then use a washcloth with Dawn and lather him up. Just remember to rinse the Dawn off the cat with another wet cloth, and keep rising it out..You might want to use a tub if your cat is spooked by running tap water. Dawn is great for killing fleas. You also may want to vacuum a lot , since fleas lay eggs in peoples carpets.
