Man using GoodRX App on phone

You can also compare pharmacy prices nearest you by visiting GoodRX.com or by downloading the free GoodRx App onto your device via iTunes or Google Play.

Then just enter the prescription drug name that you or your family needs, as well as your location, and GoodRx will show you different local pharmacies where you can purchase that specific drug so you can easily locate the cheapest price! You’ll also be able to find pharmacy coupons, manufacturer discounts, comparable drug choices, and more.

Here’s what one Hip2Save Reader had to say about this card…

GoodRX is the real deal! My husband’s medication is not covered by our insurance. Out of pocket cost is $460 for a 90 day supply. Even when insurance did cover it, it still ran around $90. I looked it up on GoodRx, they said it was $40 at various pharmacies around me. It seemed too good to be true. However, after checking out at the Walmart pharmacy with a $42 bill- I was sold! I wonder how much money I could have been saving all these years going thru them instead of our insurance. Seriously- check them out even if you have prescription coverage.

I use this and it’s a real money saver. Usually cheaper than a copay amount.

That’s awesome to hear! Thanks for letting us know how much it has helped you save!

Good Rx works! Those of us without health insurance appreciate every second of it! Worth it!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

SWEET! 🎉🙌 Thanks for the feedback, Amy!

Why can’t I use this to buy medicine for my almost 5 year old? Does anyone else use it for toddlers medicine? Any way around the minimum age of 13 to use the coupons?

    • Alli

Ive used it for my children who are under 8 many times. Never had an issue. They just enter the code.

I’ve been using GoodRx for about 2 years. I was so skeptical and first. I figured it couldn’t hurt to show my pharmacy when I picked up our prescription. They took one look at it and entered in the info and they were surprised how cheap the medications became. The prices do change periodically so check whenever you need something filled. GoodRx was a real game changer for us.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh wow! That’s great, KH! Thanks a ton for taking the time to share your experience!

  5. Alli

Goodrx is a lifesaver. I dont have insurance and its helped me more times than i can count. I’m glad you’re sharing the info with others. It makes such a big difference!

We love GoodRx! It is almost always cheaper than our insurance. I should note that our insurance is pretty good. Its not like we have terrible insurance or anything. GoodRx is still cheaper. Wish I would have tried it sooner!

  7. chrissie

My prescription went from 28 to 13, love it!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Woohoo! SO cool! Thanks for sharing with us, Chrissie!

I was paying $117 for a 3 mo supply of my RX and now pay $15 for 3 mos, and my local pharmacy keeps the coupon on file. I was ticked when I realized I was overpaying for a year.

  9. Carrie

I’m excited to find out if this will work for us! Thank you for sharing.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      You’re welcome, Carrie!

When you have a medication that does not have a generic equivalent, you should google that medication. Many times manufacturers offer a discount card that you can use even with insurance. With insurance and manufacturer discount Janumet went from $50 to $5 and Vyvanse went from $60 to $30.

    • Toni2760

Excellent advice! My husband takes Lipitor and gets the name brand for $4 a month for a 30 day supply. The generic would cost us $10 through our insurance.

      • Lel

I agree. I think the generic for Focalin was almost the same price as brand name with manufacturer’s coupon card.

Can this discount card be used with insurance cards?

    • Ivan

If you mean your insurance card with RX copays, etc…then no. You use one or the other when picking up a prescription. My pharmacy has my insurance info on file and processes it that way. But if my copay is $20+. I ask if them to run it with my GoodRx card to see which is cheaper.

  12. ivan

I was really skeptical at first, but GoodRX works. Is free to join and my RX costs with the card are always a lot less than my copay.

I was on goodrx for awhile to help my 68 year old mother save money on her meds. One of the options was Kroger Savings Card. I signed up myself and you can add 5 other people. $72/year. (Pets, too). In two months, my mom has saved over $150 on just her meds. There is a ‘drug price lookup’ on there to see if it’d be worth it for you, but we have totally made our money back. Click on the goodrx link and see the Kroger pharmacy price
(with membership). Click there to go to the Kroger savings card site and you can try it free for a month.
An individual plan is $36. It’s been a great savings for her. She’s on Meicare and doesn’t use the Medicare card with the Kroger Savings. They send you two physical savings cards. You can request more from the website.

Wowzers! Super cool to hear about the savings you could grab, Tracy! Thanks a bunch for the helpful comment and link!

I just look up the medication on goodrx.com that shows the price of the medication with their coupon and if it’s cheaper than my insurance I just show the coupon to the pharmacist on my phone. Many pharmacists will check it for you. No card needed.

  15. Deena

I tried once at cvs and Walmart using their app and it did not work .. I called them and they were showing wrong amount on app .. recently I received my GoodRx card from my pediatrician clinic too they kept at counter for free .

    • Rena

Some Pharmacies do not want to take Good Rx because they purchase the meds for higher price then th Good RX, But they may have their own discount, Just ask. I know Kroger takes it

  16. Mamabeartofivecubs

My family of 7 could not live without GoodRX! It is a lifesaver. My husbands seizure medication is super expensive, one of the ladies at the pharmacy told me about GoodRX and it cut our cost down by 75% I’ve also found an amazing app called FETCH (read their reviews in the App Store) all you do is scan your grocery receipts (even 14 day old ones) and they turn into points which you can turn into gift cards to places like amazon, target, etc. if you do decide to download the app and use my referral code FX572 you’ll get an instant 2,000 points (as will I) ❤️

If you have a Sam’s club plus membership, I have found their prices to be much lower than other pharmacies. With plus membership, the prescription is discounted 40% (I think)

  18. CaseyB

I use this for my parents and grandma. They don’t even use their prescription drug coverage because it is cheaper. My grandma is able to save $240 on one of her prescriptions a month!

  19. CW

Two months ago, the copays through Good RX skyrocketed for filling at Walgreens. I switched to RetailMeNot RX Saver (there’s an app) and its almost always cheaper than Good RX.

  20. Linda

I use GoodRx AND RXSaver apps. They vary in prices so I check both before I head to the pharmacy. Saves me money every time!!
