An efficient guide of the best free streaming services and free trials for paid subscriptions.

Streaming services are a staple in our society, and we’ve come a long way from Netflix being the sole streaming service. Nowadays there are more than we can count! It’s become a little frustrating not knowing which subscriptions to purchase, but did you know there are actually quite a few free streaming services? Some of these free streaming services even have their own original shows!

If you’re really looking to streamline your streaming budget, check out these free streaming services for your next TV binge.

peacock on tv

Peacock Free (limited ads)

Peacock is a free streaming service that doesn’t require a credit card. They offer 40,000+ hours of hit movies, TV shows, and more including Harry Potter, Downton Abbey, Men in Black, and more.

They also offer two paid plans to unlock exclusive content including their own original shows and movies like Wolf Like Me, MacGruber, and One of Us is Lying on Peacock’s Premium plans, starting at $4.99 and $9.99 a month.

CBS App

Most apps make you sign in with your TV provider to watch the latest episodes of your favorite shows. The CBS app allows you to watch sometimes up to 7 episodes without signing into a TV provider. This is great if you don’t have cable but still enjoy some hit CBS shows such as Survivor, Amazing Race, and more while they air.

As for their official streaming service, Paramount Plus, has a $1 per month sign up offer, and students get 25% off subscriptions, regularly $4.99/month.

Redbox

You may be familiar with Redbox by seeing their kiosks at the exit of your local grocery stores, but they actually also have a streaming service for free. You’ll have access to stream live TV for free as well as an extensive collection of free movies.

roku channel

Roku

Many people aren’t aware of this, but Roku actually offers over 250 free live channels, including major news channels like ABC and NBC. They also have thousands of free movies and TV shows. Simply check out your channels on Roku and click “Live TV”. For the movies and TV shows, download the Roku channel.

Of course, you can always add pretty much any streaming service to your Roku too, but they aren’t going to be free; it just serves to keep all your channels organized and in one place.

Pluto TV

Pluto TV is also another streaming service that is free! Any user has access to 250+ channels by simply going on their website. They also have a library of on-demand movies, including the entire Twilight franchise (I know Netflix has Twilight BUT for those looking for a free solution!)

You don’t even need to create an account, but, if you do, you’ll be able to favorite your most-viewed channels and sync you devices.

YouTube TV

YouTube TV as a whole is not free since it’s meant to replace any cable companies you use currently. However, they offer various free movies with ads including Gone In 60 Seconds, The Island, and more. If you’re interested in a YouTube TV subscription, they do offer a free two-week trial.

Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video is included if you’re already an Amazon Prime subscriber (I mean, who isn’t! 😂). Although there are some videos, movies, and shows you can rent or buy, there are countless free ones, too: from documentaries to original TV shows and movies.

Without being an Amazon Prime member, you can enjoy their 30-day free trial and purchase a Prime Video subscription for $8.99/month.

Sling TV

Sling TV offers a couple paid packages, however, if you add the channel to your Roku, you can enjoy countless free TV channels and programs. If you visit the homepage, you’ll also be able to enjoy these perks and view how many free channels you can get based on your zip code. My zip code includes over 80 free channels!

Tubi

Tubi has an impressive collection of movie and TV titles, and all are available with no credit card! You’ll find local live news channels and blockbuster films from Warner Brothers, Paramount, MGM, and more. They even have some Tubi original shows you can give a try! You can add the Tubi channel to any device, including your Roku!

T-mobile also offers free Netflix as well as $10 off Youtube and Philo.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      Thanks for the reminder, Peaches!

    • Alina

How do you get the free subscription? I am with T-mobile and did not know about it.

      • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there! It seems that offer is available for certain plans. You can find more details on that when you click through the link above. You could also login to your TMobile account and live chat with customer service to check on that for you. Hoping this is helpful! 🥰

        • Peaches

Also, I think this discount is available for all tax inclusive plans

      • Peaches

I googled it. Much easier than asking one of T-mo’s customer service people. Interestingly, while the link says it is only for one year, the FAQ’s say for as long as you are a T-mo customer. $10 off Philo for a year is still way better than nothing so I won’t complain if the one year is correct. Try this link if you were looking for Philo. https://promotions.t-mobile.com/philo

  2. Peaches

I forgot, you also get free Apple TV + and Paramount + with T-mobile. Sorta makes up for the joke that T-mo Tuesday has become.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      Awesome! Thanks so much! 🙌

  3. Amy

Tubi is free and has a great selection!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for the heads up, Amy! Good to know! ❤️🙌

  4. Betty Bates

My son is a college student and wants to sign up for mlb.tv but when I clicked on the ID.me in the link, that websight doesn’t open. It shows an error. So how can my son get mlb.tv for free if he can’t use that link? He’s never done ID.me so not sure what he needs to do. Any info is appreciated. 🙂

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there! It looks like they may be having some technical issues with that link at the moment. I did find the option to contact customer service – 866-800-1275 Hoping they may be able to help! 🥰

      • Betty Bates

Thank you! We’ll try calling them. 🙂

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

          You’re very welcome!

  9. Jan

I signed up for paramount plus but I can’t seem to get the app to download or even show up on my smart tv any suggestions

    • Sarah

Use roku or firestick. My smart tv is 8 years old so I have to use roku/firestick for most of these app.

  10. Rhondamcc

FRNDLYTV is EXCELLENT! It has HALLMARK!

  11. Shelly

Does anyone know if any of these include the History Channel? We don’t Fubo back when it was included and now it isn’t. My hubby misses it, and we would sure love to find a way to watch Forged in Fire for free.

  12. Tina

Cricket wireless also gives free year to HBO Max!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      Thank you, Tina!
