Faux is the way to go, especially if you don’t have a green thumb like me!

Adding an indoor tree is a beautiful way to add interest and style to a room. They can really bring the outdoors inside and make your space more inviting. I have personally been on a faux tree kick in my home, and love how they look so much!

However, I don’t love the price tag on lots of the gorgeous trees and pots I am seeing on Instagram. Some of these trees can be hundreds of dollars, and the pots too. 😩

Olive trees are super trendy right now to elevate a space and add. I love this artificial faux olive tree so much as it’s realistic and so pretty. Faux trees have sure come a long way in recent years, haven’t they?! The best part there is no watering involved and I cannot kill this one! LOL

The award for the most realistic stone-looking outdoor and indoor tree pot goes to Walmart!

If you’re looking for a luxury-looking planter with Pottery Barn vibes this is it. I am so pleased with the quality of this Better Homes and Gardens planter for under $20! It’s made of resin, yet looks like a heavy stone material. I love that it’s lightweight and easy to move around, yet looks very heavy.

Money Saving Tip: Don’t forget to check out thrift stores, and stores like TJMaxx and HomeGoods for affordable planters. Tall woven baskets will work as well!

Here’s how I styled my artificial olive tree and plater to make it look taller and more realistic!

inside of faux tree pot

I started with a smaller upside-down leftover smaller pot and placed it inside to create a platform for my tree to sit on. I then used leftover brown packing paper and bubble wrap to fill in the space around the sides so it’s stable.

adding a sheet of moss to plant a faux tree

After that, I added a sheet of moss around the tree to hide everything. I cut down the middle of the square piece so that it could easily be placed around the base of the tree. Lastly, I tucked in the sides so it looks flat and seamless.

This project took a total of about 5 minutes to do! Yippee!

Honestly, I love this faux tree and pot set-up so much!

I am so excited about it, and the whole thing was less than $100 to create. I have seen similar setups be hundreds of dollars on Instagram, so this is a win in my book! My tree looks so fancy and stylish now. The moss really does add a realistic touch.

Grab a pair of LED spotlights from Amazon and create some background lighting!

All I did was fill my planter with the plant and covered the empty space with faux-dried Spanish moss. I Added the lights making sure to hide them a bit with the moss. Face the lights towards the stem of the tree and they will light up the area to create a cozy vibe at night! I love this idea, and it was both easy and inexpensive to do!

There is a remote that comes with the lights to easily turn on and off and adjust the brightness.
