I picked one up the other day. It was full of necklace making pendants and Cricket iron-ons. I was bummed, BUT it could have made a great box for someone who was into that kind of stuff

Post the items for sale for a killer deal. Make people happy and make a profit too.

    • Terrie

Would have been right up my alley!

    • Corkey

Wow really? Some crafters can’t afford $5. Ought to be glad you get

I grabbed a box this past weekend just out of curiosity. There was around $200 worth of stuff in my box! I got a bunch of cute Halloween and fall decor as well as a huge tie dye set and cake pan set. The tie dye and pan set retailed at $80 so I definitely got a good deal! There was only 1 item I wouldn’t use (a monogram cake topper). I’m headed back tomorrow to hopefully score some Christmas goodies!

I just grabbed one. $5 for $55 of merchandise. Got a fancy witches hat, a ceramic dish, a Halloween garland, a light up wand for truck or treating, a bag of foam vase filler pumpkins, and two Halloween glow necklaces.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Woohoo! Sounds like a great score, Trace! Thanks for letting us know the items you snagged!

Does the $5 grab bag deal last a week or is it till they are all out? Where is it usually located in the store? Thanks for letting us know on the bargain.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there! These may vary by location and sell out quickly. They can be found near the front of the store. Hoping this is helpful! 🤗💞

I found a few boxes while I was in a neighboring town and picked them up. It was like Christmas again opening them. They were a mix of Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, craft and home items. I added up the first box I opened and it totaled $270.63 and that’s minus 3 items that didn’t have price tags. (Pixie Tape Ribbon, Wilton Cookie Decorating Kit and Adhesive Eraser) I was super impressed and excited!! Thanks again Hip2save you’re awesome as usual.

I just came back from my local Michaels (Hadley MA) and they had tons of Christmas stuff for 90% off. The lady told me it started today at their location and they are just waiting for the go ahead of pack it up in $50 boxes. She said the boxes are filled with items at this price mark (90% off).

    • rebecacha

      My apologies, I meant $5.00

Update to my earlier post: I’ve been lucky enough to purchase a total of 9 from 2 Michael’s stores and I added up the merchandise and it totaled almost $1600 and I only paid $45 plus tax. After choosing the items I wanted to keep, which was a lot of cool stuff, I’ve already sold some (at lower than the 80% off price) to pay for 3 of the boxes. 😁

    • Rey

May I ask what website did you use to sell the stuff? Thanks

  8. Teresa

I was at Michaels yesterday. They don’t have grab bags yet. Their Valentine’s stuff is 90% off, St. Patrick’s Day stuff is 75-90% off, and Easter stuff is 50% off. So, there are deals to get, but no grab bags yet.

  9. Amy

I just got one today and it was 6 Christmas ornament storage bags that retail for 30 ea…any ideas of how to use them besides that???

    • Mrs C

You could use them for storing cups if you’re moving or just putting extra in storage.

  10. Sara

I just hit the jackpot too! They had grab BOXES! I totally scored on tons of great valentines stuff and some st patricks day. Soooo worth $5! THANKS for posting!!

    • Stacy F (Hip2Save Sidekick)

WOOT! That sounds like an awesome box!

I stopped by my local Michael’s today and was bummed that they didn’t have any. My daughter adores the surprise type toys like LOL’s and I thought this would be a mommy crafter’s (me) version.

We bought three of the grab boxes the other day and they were filled with valentines day decorations. Not one of the best grab boxes we have picked up but all together they still had over 450$ worth of stuff. The best grab box we had ever gotten came with tons of random stuff, including a 40$ art lamp. But they are hit or miss. Overall, if you are looking for a fun opportunity they are a great buy.

  13. Samantha

By the way, each box was only 5$

In all my visits to several Michaels in our area (San Antonio, TX), I have only ever seen grab bags/boxes once. I didn’t know what they were at the time so I passed them up but since I’ve not seen them since I asked an associate a few weeks ago and they said they haven’t been doing them for a long time. I wonder if they only offer them in certain regions now or if the associate has no idea what she is talking about. I’m hoping the latter.
