Here’s what our Hip team shared about their Spring Break Traditions:
“Spring Break trips have always been about making memories for us—choosing experiences over things. We love exploring new places together, and this year was extra special. It was my daughter’s last Spring Break at home, so when we asked where she wanted to go, she said Italy… and we made it happen.
I can’t even put into words how much this trip meant. Watching her take it all in, knowing this season of life is shifting, hit me in ways I didn’t expect. I’m beyond grateful we had this time together, fully present, away from work, away from distractions—just us, soaking it all in.
I shared our Italy adventures on Instagram stories here—it’s a trip I’ll hold close forever. ” – Collin
“Our family typically goes on a big Spring break trip because it usually lands right around our anniversary/birthdays. We plan somewhere new to go every year, but this year we’ve decided to stay home and plan fun and affordable things to do after work! My kiddos are on Spring Break this week and we’ve got plans pretty much every day. We are going hiking/geocaching at a state park, heading to a nearby waterpark, Dave & Buster’s for 50% off games, bike riding, getting pizza and ice cream downtown, and a beach night! “ – Liz
“We travel for spring break since it’s usually around our birthdays/anniversaries. We used to go to an Orlando resort every year so I could park myself in their lazy river in a floaty tube and eat fries all day but then everyone else found out about it and it just got way too crowded for us. So we discovered some really nice, yet still affordable villas with private pools in Orlando and it’s the best thing ever. Our villa also had a movie theater, pool table, and game room. Each one has a different theme, so it’s super fun if you’re staying with littles. Orlando is our go-to because there’s just so much to do but we try to plan our vacays before the spring break craziness hits and all the high school and college kiddos hit the beaches/theme parks. This year we had to settle for a staycation since the hubs is healing from an injury but the weather was wonderful and we found plenty to do.” – Cass
“We always go somewhere during my son’s spring break and in years past we have combined our vacation with wherever my husband had to go for travel during that week for work. We went to really exciting places like Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New Orleans, and more. Our go-to place is Orlando, as my husband’s aunt lives a half hour away so we can usually stay with her. This year we’re going to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure/Volcano Bay and staying on property. Later this summer we will do our yearly trip to Door County, WI – we started that during COVID because it’s like an off-grid adventure and we love it.” – Denise
Some of our Hip sidekicks don’t get a chance to celebrate Spring Break at all.
“We don’t typically do much for spring break. We sometimes would try and find some local things to do here and there, but nothing crazy.” – Melinda
“We don’t do a spring break trip, since my kids only have had a long weekend or two off from school in the spring. It usually lands around my son’s birthday and we find fun things to do in the area or plan a quick day trip to a large mall or fun event. We save our vacation trip planning for the summer. “ – Amber
“When our kids were younger we did spring break trips, but as older kids have jobs and sports and different schedules spring breaks are harder. Prices get expensive too right now for everything. Plus, in Phoenix, we usually have amazing weather right now so it’s hard to want to go anywhere else. We sometimes do a weekend staycation or at the very least catch a spring training baseball game like we did this weekend, when my oldest was home! We’re excited to plan a Florida Keys family vacation for June though!” – Lina
“Our kiddos here don’t really get a spring break – nothing more than a couple of 4-day weekends throughout March/April but that’s it. With so many family birthdays and sports this time of year, we are too busy to navigate a Spring break trip. Summer starts at the end of May though so we look forward to a summer trip when they’re home.” – Sara
“The school does get a week off in April, but we don’t usually do a Spring Break trip here. if anything, just a quick weekend trip somewhere local-ish for shopping. Otherwise, we mostly use that week for projects around the house/outside.
We get three weeks of vacation in September & October, so we tend to take our “Spring Break” trip then. The weather is better, less people have those weeks off so crowds are less of an issue, and it’s kind of like a last hurrah before the weather gets yucky and we stop traveling as much.” – Liza
We can’t wait to hear all about your Spring Break traditions and celebrate the start of a fresh new season with our amazing community! Let’s welcome March with open arms, spread love, and inspire each other as we embrace all the beauty that spring has to offer.
Happy Spring from all of us at Hip2Save! We love and appreciate you all.
We usually try to spend a little extra time out on the boat enjoying the water.
We stay home on spring break because everyone else at my husband’s work is off and then we take a week off in May to go to Disney World
I love stay-cations and have a bunch of fitness related projects to get to once it commences, including breaking in some brand new rollers skates! Can’t wait!
The kids wanted to try and cruise for spring break so we went down Baja California and had a great time. My kids loved having the run of the ship and making new friends, and of course eating ice cream all day long, haha
We travel to our favorite place: Gatlinburg/TN!
Spring at home is the way to go for us! The weather is warmer and the bugs aren’t out yet. We make the most of the fun things nearby and get the much needed house projects done so we can spend as much time as possible at camp with family over the summer! Best memories ever and having the extended family around even gets my teens excited for family time!
It certainly melts my heart and I cherish the memories we make every year!
We typically plan our trips in the summer and fall. Occasionally for Christmas. So for spring break we spend the time around our town finding fun things to do. My daughter’s birthday usually falls during that week so we celebrate by doing things like going to an indoor pool or if it’s nice enough maybe have a lake day.
I am going to go to the Kalahari in a few weeks but didn’t make it out this week.
This year we’re staying closer to home. Every year it’s a little bit different!
We took our Spring Break trip to go pick up our new RV. Our last RV, we had bought new 15 months ago, was STOLEN on Christmas Day from the storage facility.
Oh no!
So sorry that happened to you, but glad you’ve got a new RV now. Hoping it brings you lots of great adventures ahead!

No spring break trip for me! My job has a deadline that runs through April so I am busy working 80 hour weeks.
My son will be going to college in the Fall and this mama is feeling the anxiety. This spring break he is getting his wisdom teeth out so we are doing a staycation filled with movies , video games and hanging with friends.
We don’t always go on a vacation for spring break but this year we are going to Washington DC.
We do cruise in spring break.
We don’t usually go away for spring break because we know lots of people do, so places will be crowded and expensive. This year we are planning our vacation to Costa Rica the third week of May, which is when my son’s summer break starts. We are hoping to be gone while most kids are still in school and most families haven’t gone on vacation yet.
No spring break for me with adult children now. When they had spring break tho, we usually just stayed home and had a fun break doing local things. Miss those days!
We homeschool and so we usually skip spring break and start our summer vacation earlier than other schools!
I homeschool my kids so our spring break is usually not the same time as other kids. But we like to go Disney world that time.
No break for me, but a vacation sounds nice!
Over the years we have done some Spring Break trips – San Antonio, visiting grandparents after Covid restrictions, visiting family in Chicago. One special year we even went to Hong Kong!
Other years we stay home and try to do staycation day trips to State Parks nearby or explore another part of our state within an hour or two’s drive. This year we are tired….so our plan is to stay home, relax and gear up for the sprint to the end of the school year. Our kids are older now and super busy with schoolwork and their activities.
They really appreciate lazy time at home.
We didn’t go anywhere doe spring break because we are saving to go to Disneyland in the summer. Being from Arizona we usually go up north for spring break to see snow but this year just staying home.
Yes!!We love to go to Orange Beach,AL.Not too far from home and the beach is SO relaxing
No! We love a good staycation. My son played baseball for 15 years and we were always traveling for baseball during spring break – for tournaments – so now we enjoy a nice break at home to breathe and reset.
We love to explore beaches, state/national parks and theme parks, either further or closer to home — it’s the shared experience and adventure that we enjoy most!
For spring break our kids are so ready to have days off from school! I let them sleep in and stay up late watching movies. During the regular school week we are very scheduled with practices and home work. They love the slower change of pace!
Just have fun with whatever you do! When I was little it was just have fun; no school; just played outside till the street lights came on!! Haha!
My family stays home during Spring Break, because we do not like crowds. My husband & I home-schooled our daughter, and we’d go on hiking & camping trips while the other kids were in school. Now that it’s just my husband & I on these trips, we still avoid crowds, and look for less popular trails..for the solitude.
No spring brake for me this year. Housebound with fractured L1 and L3 due to car accident. Looking forward for vacation this summer.
We usually go somewhere but not this year because my Navy daughter is getting married next week so we are flying to see her!
We don’t usually, but we are this year because it is my oldest’s senior year.
If we do anything for spring break it’s day things locally in our town or in a near by town.
We don’t usually go anywhere for spring break. It’s too crowded and I’d prefer to travel when it’s warmer and cold/flu season is over.
We always go to Dunedin, FL for spring break. We love Honeymoon Island. It sustained damage from the hurricanes, but had reopened. The beach is so nice; in fact it’s the prettiest that I’ve seen it in 10 years right now.
No way that is sweet little Piper! Our babies grow up so fast. We do try to do something on Spring Break. We usually end up taking a camping trip close to home and then a take a bigger beach trip during the summer. “Sometimes you never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.” – Dr. Suess
We always go somewhere for Spring Break. We mostly do staycations. We live in Florida. Why would we go anywhere else? We have the beach, sun, springs and woodland adventures, not to mention theme parks. My sister and I have boys. We go on outdoor adventures and fish a lot. Our boys always have a great time even though their is a 8-year age difference.
Kids are all in their 40’s with their own families. We are older and I’m partially retired, hubby retiring soon. We travel a lot but not during spring break. We are looking for a lake house now to retire so most trips revolve around finding our “place”.
This year we took our first spring break trip to Hawaii!!! It was a little hard because for one of us it wasn’t spring break so he had to miss school but totally worth it.
We have two seniors in high school this year, so it’s off to Florida we go! It’s definitely with mixed emotions that we are celebrating their final spring break as highschoolers, but we are also excited for the next chapter in their lives as they leave for college in a few short months!

Sometimes we take a trip and sometimes we stay home. This year we were home with 2 out of a family of 5 sick.
Yes, we are going to The Berkshires in Western MA!
I went on a girls trip this year to San Juan, very nice weather and NO passort required. I would love to make it tradition for us ladies every year. Sun/Fun/Food/Beach/Dancing/ Swimming
No spring break here, ended up staying home with the flu

Oh bummer! Hoping everyone starts feeling better soon!

We do not vacation over spring break. Usually travel during the summer or in December and our favorite thing to do is go on a cruise.
