This Reader Keeps Track of Holiday Clearance Hauls
Time to organize your seasonal decorations!
With the holidays on the horizon, decorations are most definitely on our minds. This week’s Happy Friday reader JoAnna is breaking down her organization tips for seasonal decorations!
Do you stock up on presents, decorations, toiletries, and craft supplies during post-holiday sales? If you’re like me, it can be so easy to forget what you bought! And I hate for something to go to waste, no matter how much I paid for it.
So, I started taking photos of my clearance hauls and saving them in a dedicated photo album on my phone. This makes it easy to periodically review what you bought and remember to use them throughout the year!
If I bought something as a gift, I’ll take an individual photo and delete it once I’ve given it away. But for items I intend on using myself (like holiday decorations, candles, and craft supplies), I’ll arrange everything together and take one photo.
It can also be a good way to review what you scored last year as a reminder of potential hidden clearance deals to keep an eye out for this year!
JoAnna, what a clever hack! We love how organized you keep your supplies and how it acts as a guide for this year. Let us know any other organizational skills you have for upcoming holiday deals, and here’s our post on how to create a gift closet.

This is genius!! I’m definitely incorpating this year!! Thanks for sharing!!
Gotta love cell phones and the opportunity to do stuff like this. I take pics of clothing I buy for my grandkids so I remember what I bought, donβt duplicate, and can see if I need to get a matching top or bottom
That’s a great idea too! β€οΈπ
I was just thinking to myself the other day how I shouldn’t consider any new fall decorations because I know I bought several after season last year and needed to get them out first to remind myself of what I already have (and really don’t need, lol). This is a great idea!
It sure is! I was thinking the same thing, as I know I have way too many decor pumpkins already but they are so hard to resist when I see such cute ones in stores!β€οΈπ
I love this idea! Thanks for sharing!
Genius! Thank you so much for sharing! Definitely something I can use.
Nice idea!! Thanks for sharingπ
Awesome idea thank you!
Can anyone explain how to create a dedicated photo album on an iphone? Thank you!
Hey Susie! In your photos, click on “Albums” on the bottom row. There will be a “+” sign at the top left corner to add a new album. Any time you take a photo, you can click the box with the up arrow sign on it (the button we use to share/send the photo to others) and then scroll down on the menu to where it says “Add to Album.” Hoping this is helpful! π
Thanks, Jessica!!!
Thanks for the tip!
This is so awesome! Thanks for sharing! I will have to start doing this too!
So happy to hear you’re loving this reader’s tip! It is a great idea! π€
This is a good idea. I’ve tried making lists of stuff in my gift closet before but taking a picture as soon as you buy something and always having it in hand is much better. Thanks to Joanna for the idea!
Such a great idea! I can remember when β¦.I used to remember what I put away for next year!! Not the case now! Definitely going to try this!
So happy to hear this reader’s tip was helpful, everest716! π₯°
