Poshmark is my new favorite way to shop while saving money!

What is Poshmark you say?

Poshmark is a simple and fun way to connect with millions of people to easily buy and sell our favorite name-brand clothing, accessories, and even home items for much less than full retail prices. What makes Poshmark special is the social aspect it has that allows you to communicate with buyers and sellers to essentially shop each other’s closets in a very easy way!

Those who enjoy shopping for high-quality brands like Lululemon, Tory Burch, and Anthropologie from the comforts of home will love the affordable prices on new and gently used clothing for yourself or the family using Poshmark.

There is a Poshmark desktop site, as well as a handy app that’s very user-friendly.

Nothing beats shopping for cute clothes from home online!

Over the course of the pandemic, my tween daughter and I have been using this app more and more to shop for stylish new and used clothing instead of going to stores. At first, I was hesitant, but after finding pre-owned Lululemon leggings for just $10, I was all-in on this modern way of buying clothing!

If you have a teen, then you may relate that their styles often change, they can become super picky about brands, and I honestly don’t want to spend a ton of money on pieces when I know she’ll likely not want to wear it next month. LOL!

I feel like Poshmark is a smart and frugal way to search and by the brands she enjoys such as PacSun, Tilly’s, Abercrombie, Vans, and Lululemon, while paying just a fraction of the full retail value.

Today I’ll be sharing some helpful tips when it comes to shopping AND savings on Poshmark.

1.) Sign up using our Poshmark referral code to get an extra discount!

New Poshmark account signups utilizing our referral code HIP2SAVECOM will score a FREE $10 credit towards your first purchase! Yippee!

2.) The search and filter tool will be your best friend for finding certain brands!

You will be able to search for favorite brands and then filter by size, color, price. You can even sort by “recent price drop” to see if someone has recently lowered a listing and “this just in” to see the most recent listings relevant to your search. I also highly recommend following your favorite brands as well, because items from that brand will pop up in your feed!

Have a favorite article of clothing from years past that you’d love to replace? Try searching on Poshmark for it!

3.) Bundle items from the same Poshmark seller to save on shipping!

This is the first thing I learned when shopping Poshmark and it’s so valuable. Most listings have a $7.45 flat rate shipping paid for by the buyer. Often sellers will bundle items so you won’t incur additional shipping fees. For instance, if you bought a 2nd or 3rd item from the same shop weighing under 5 pounds, you could still pay the flat rate shipping for all pieces.

Also, you’ll notice that lots of sellers kick in an additional discount for larger bundles which gives you extra savings.

4.) Find and follow sellers that have similar sizes and styles to yourself.

Since I mostly purchase items for my daughter on here, we are following some sellers that will often post similar items she likes and it’s more like shopping from a friend’s closet! That way we are more likely to be able to bundle items to save.

5.) Use the LIKE heart button!

If you press like on a listing, and that seller happens to lower the price of the item, you’ll get a notification or a message from the seller. This actually just happened to me last night as I was late-night browsing in bed and pressed the heart icon on a few items in one shop. I woke up to a message from the seller offering a large bundle discount for those items!

6.) Be sure to look at the Poshmark photos and descriptions very closely.

About 30% of Poshmark is NWT, meaning new with tags. The other 70% of listings are gently used pre-owned items that could potentially have flaws. You can zoom in on any photos to inspect closer. It’s also important to read measurements and sizing info provided for fit.

Feel free to ask questions on a listing if you are curious about the condition or any details that may not be listed.

Poshmark’s return policy states: We will give you a full refund if your item never ships or does not match the listing description. Otherwise, all sales are final.

7. ) You can make an offer on a Poshmark listing.

I don’t tend to utilize this feature as much, but if you see something you like, it can’t hurt to make a reasonable offer. The Poshmark seller can always decline. Just be sure you want that item, because if/when they accept the offer, it’s considered a sale.

8.) Search Poshmark for your favorite brands and styles from Stitch Fix to save big!

Do you subscribe to Stitch Fix? I am a fan of that service and have been getting their styled boxes for the last couple of years. If there is a specific piece that you love or have tried on, try searching for it on Poshmark even if it’s older! Chances are you may find it new or gently used for much less.

I feel like Poshmark is a WIN-WIN all around!

Although I have not personally sold anything on Poshmark, I can see how this could be a convenient way to clean out the closet while also making some cash. I also love the idea of buying preloved pieces as a greener way of shopping too.

It’s a fun place to shop high-quality pieces from home and score some deals along the way.

My sidekick Michelle recently tried Poshmark and here’s what she had to say:

“On Halloween, my favorite animated candy dish was stolen I had had for years. All the neighbor kids LOVED it and it really was the only cool Halloween thing I owned. I was on a mission to replace it and the only place I found it was on Poshmark. It was my first time purchasing anything from there and it was super smooth. Haven’t bought anything since but I think it’s a cool place to find ‘hard-to-find’ items!”

I used to use poshmark several years ago, but I was bullied on there by a group of people so I stopped. I know I was not the only one that had that issue as there were lots of mean people on there, and I had heard that others quit poshmark for the same reasons. Are things better on there now?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh gosh, I’m sorry that happened. So far all of the sellers I have bought from have been kind and professional. I just go on there looking for my items and leave though.

    • Sann111

I think they remove accounts that harass people. I always keep things quick and friendly.
I buy stuff but I try to just say thanks and move on if I make an offer they don’t want to accept and if someone low balls me I just say thanks for your offer but that’s too low.
I’ve done it 3 years and I’ve seen a few mean comments but I don’t get involved with that and you can always block someone if you want to.
They do have a decent return policy, if the item is not as described they will let you send it back. So you want to read closely when buying and ask questions and when you’re selling make sure you post tons of pictures and describe your listings accurately.
It’s been a great thing for me and I’ve made lots of money. Good luck

  8. A.B.

My sister shops here for luxury goods, but I’m leery. Are there counterfeit products in the mix? I thought I’ve read that items are “sent in,” to Poshmark, for verification? Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

If it’s an item over $500 I believe they can authenticate. Our purchases have been for items $30 or less so have not used it. Here’s more info–> https://poshmark.com/posh_authenticate

    • jen13289

Yes, everything you purchase over $500 ships free and goes directly to Poshmark headquarters for authenticity, then to the customer. You are protected, if the item isn’t authentic, you get your money back. If you happen to find something under $500, you have 3 days to accept the purchase, before the seller gets paid, if it happens to be fake, you can open a claim, and Poshmark will address the issue. If you don’t accept the purchase by 3 days, the seller will be paid on the 4th day, sale is completed, just do it within the 3 day window 💕

      • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

        Thanks for the info!

I love Poshmark too! Tips 3 and 4 are so very true – as both a seller and a buyer – I have gotten good deals on bundles so I love to give people deep discounts when they bundle too! Check out my closet and I’d love to ship to you soon! https://poshmark.com/closet/poshcasandra

I use Poshmark to find discontinued collectible items and jewelry. It has been a life save when I lose one earring and am able to find the pair on poshmark and replace them.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

yes!! I love that idea! Thanks for sharing Courtney!

  11. Amy W

I have been buying on Poshmark for several years and I love it. I primarily use it to replace some of my favorite wardrobe pieces once they wear out. I can almost always find the identical item, either new with tags or gently worn. I also collect Vera Bradley bags in a particular print, and have purchased several on Poshmark. I also use it to shop for my preteen daughter. I always bought dresses for my daughters from Crazy 8, but now that they’re out of business I shop for crazy 8 apparel on Poshmark. Highly recommend!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That’s awesome Amy! Thanks for sharing!

  12. Cathy

Yes to Poshmark! I’ve been a buyer and seller for a few years now, and have a few recommendations for my fellow sellers:
    1) Follow other Poshers. This creates a community built on trust. Other Poshers will follow you and share your items.
    2) Be a sharer! Share items from other Posh closets. Sharing is caring!
    3) Ship quickly. Who doesn’t a quick reward for shopping in your closet? 🙂
    4) Package your items nicely, and include a note. Posh shoppers love the personal touch.

I’ve been a seller and buyer on Poshmark for the past 5 years. It put me through nursing school and now through Grad school. As a mom of 5 including a teen it’s full of great name brand unique items. I’ve grown my Poshmark hobby into a family business and we all love it. Feel free to stop by and take a look at my closet @instylenow https://posh.mk/4fW94DmnFeb

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That is awesome! Thanks for sharing Stephanie!

  15. Melanie

I buy and sell, and it’s a great platform! Just remember, there are no returns for fit; ask for measurements if you need them. Also, sellers have up to 7 days to ship your item. Most ship faster, but it’s a good thing to keep in mind. I carry a variety of things in my closet, S-3X if anyone wants to save $10 on their purchase!
