Shopping the latest clothing trends has never been easier thanks to this Amazon store shopping hack!
Seriously! The massive online retailer has just about anything and everything you can think of from groceries to furniture to gadgets to really everything in between. My favorite Amazon buys? Trendy fashion finds.
Like most of you, I am OBSESSED with shopping on Amazon.
The clothing and accessories category on Amazon has been blowing up over the last few years thanks to name brand additions and the introduction of Amazon Wardrobe. We've also been loving the activewear that looks just like Lululemon! But if you've ever perused through the fashion section from clicking the category links, you've probably noticed that the prices aren't all that amazing, especially since you typically can't use a coupon or take advantage of a markdown sale as you would in any other store.
That's where the search bar comes in and this awesome Amazon store shopping hack...You're probably thinking, "Um Emily, using a search bar is not a hack," but trust me, there's a method to it!
When you click on the "Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry" department and browse within the category links, you're guided to a listing of the top name brands and designer brands available on Amazon, which is where you're also going to find name brand prices. Instead, utilize the search bar to really hone in on what you're looking for.
For example, navigating to a listing of one-shoulder tops by clicking on only Amazon department links brought me to this page of pretty, yet not totally budget-friendly, blouses. But when I used the Amazon search bar and typed in "one shoulder top" in All Departments, I got an entirely different listing with TONS of options with most ringing in under $20!
It sounds kind of strange, I know, but when using a specific list of keywords in the search bar, the results end up being from more affordable, yet relatively unknown brands. Even better, when you click on an item, you'll get suggestions for other pieces that are similar AND still at that lower price point!
Strapless Ruffle Top Dress, Geometric Print Dress, & Maxi Floral Print Dress all starting at $19
My all-time favorite search? Dresses! Is it just me or does anyone else feel like they're constantly on the search for dresses during the summer season to wear to bridal showers, weddings, and other dressy events? That's why I love getting my outfits using the Amazon search bar to get gorgeous pieces at discount prices.
I typically take search inspiration from what's trending in fashion or from the sponsored shopping posts I'm constantly scrolling past on Instagram. I always see the prettiest dresses promoted on social media but I'm not totally comfortable giving my credit card info to many of those websites. Plus, I never know how long the shipping will take or what extra cost that will add. That's why searching for similar looking pieces on Amazon gives you shopping peace of mind plus FREE two-day shipping and returns on apparel with Amazon Prime!
I originally saw this dress on Instagram and fell in love with it — so I searched for it on Amazon using the keywords "geometric print dress", found it for only $18, and ordered immediately. It's my most complimented dress!
Another important tip when using this store shopping hack is to scour over the reviews for quality, size, and picture accuracy. Because let's face it — a dress under $20 that's photographed on an Instagram model can be a touch too deceiving to not investigate further. That said, remember you can get almost ALL of the clothing available on Amazon with free shipping and free returns if you're a Prime member. So worst case scenario if you don't love something, you print the return shipping label and send it on back.
I'm not done raving yet... one of my recent searches landed me on a dress that I loved but it didn't have the color I was looking for. So, after purchasing the dress in white, I used some Rit fabric dye and only let the color soak for 10 minutes to make it a pale greyish blue exactly to my liking. It also made the dress appear less sheer than it was while white, increasing the quality a touch more and preventing me from having to buy a slip!
While I mainly buy dresses, the search bar trick can be used for any clothing items, from tops to bottoms to accessories and more! It's a perfect way to get all the latest trends and not feel bad when they go out of style in a couple years since you purchased them for so cheap!
To sum up this Amazon store shopping hack:
- Scour social media for the hottest trends.
- Search Amazon's main search bar.
- Read reviews for quality, size, and picture accuracy.
- If you love the item and not the color, consider dying it to change it up.
I hope you enjoy this Amazon store shopping hack as much as I do!
