Here’s What Our Hip Team Has Been Up to Off the Clock in August
Here’s what our Hip2Save team members have been up to when we’re not hard at work.
We’re back with more exciting behind-the-scenes at Hip!
We’re continuing our super fun off-the-clock Hip series and giving you all a sneak peek into our lives behind the scenes every month!
Whether it’s something we’re buying, something we did, or how our lives are ever-changing, we’re bringing you along for the journey with us!
Erika went to Hawaii for her 30th birthday.
Erika decided there’s no better place to ring in a new decade other than a warm beach so she went all out and traveled to Hawaii for her birthday! 🤩
She swam with turtles, went to a luau, did a sunset sail, and got lots of free drinks everywhere she went thanks to her birthday tiara. (Noted for my next vacay!) 😆
Despite bringing COVID home as a souvenir, she said she had the time of her life!
Emily and her hubby went rafting again.
Another weekend, another rafting trip! Emily and her hubby rafted on the Grande Ronde River in Oregon with their sweet pup, Maddie. We always love seeing their adventures and beautiful views. Man, their dog has the life, doesn’t she?! 😍
We went camping in our backyard to enjoy our last weekend of summer.
Since my two older boys were on a trip to Hershey Park with their cousins, we made the most out of our last weekend at home before school starts. We set up a tent in the backyard, made a bonfire, ate s’mores, and read some new camping books.
Backyard camping is my favorite since we have a bathroom, shower, and kitchen all close by. 🤣 I couldn’t help but sneak this cute photo of our “campsite” all lit up at night. My daughter’s first time sleeping in a tent was pretty magical, to say the least! 🥰
Angie and Shane got together in his hometown.
We love seeing Hip sidekicks getting together off the clock! Since Angie was on vacation near Shane, she was sure to plan a quick get-together. Angie is our oh-so-sweet Human Resouces Manager who is the glue that holds us together and Shane is a rockstar Affiliate Manager, so although you may not see them often they’re a huge part of our team! I sure am jealous of all these Hip meetups! 🤩
Alli and her husband enjoyed seeing her family in Wisconsin.
Alli and her husband had a super chill week-long vacation in northern Wisconsin with her side of the family. She said they wakeboarded, caught lots of fish, played with her adorable niece, and enjoyed being out in the sun. There’s nothing like good quality time with family! 😍
Melinda and her family are back in Orlando already.
Melinda and her family have had a busy month celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary, their youngest son’s 6th birthday, and spending lots of quality time volunteering at their Vacation Bible School.
You may have even seen them in Florida last month and they’re already back thanks to her husband’s work where he helps translate the Bible into foreign languages worldwide. They got to take a tour at Wycliffe Discovery Center which is a museum with interactive features that teach about people, languages, and cultures all over the world. How cool!
Melissa and her family went to the beach and checked off a bucket list item for her son.
Melissa and her family did one last beach trip to the Texas coast in Galveston which also happens to be close to NASA’s Space Center. Since their 10-year-old dreams of one day being a NASA engineer, they surprised him with a pitstop at his top bucket list place. Trips always go too fast, but the memories last forever!
She also went to Las Vegas and won some cash!
Since her hubby had a medical conference in Las Vegas, Melissa tagged along for some adult time. She’s not big on gambling, but went in with $2 for slots and came out with $20! Considering she only went to Vegas to sleep in and have adult conversation, I’d say she made out big time! 😂
Anne also went to Vegas and made a special trip to see the Hoover Dam.
One of our newest deal bloggers, Anne, also just took a trip to Vegas! While neither she nor her husband are big into gambling, they opted for seeing some shows and soaking in the amazing nearby views instead! If you’re planning a trip to the city that never sleeps, she said she highly recommends seeing Katy Perry’s Play and America’s Got Talent!
Melissa finished up an incredible new closet she DIY’d all on her own.
We were all stunned when Melissa shared her master bedroom closet project. 😍 She built it from the ground up using IKEA Pax cabinets and made every effort for them to look “built-in”. She even laid all of the floor tiles herself which she said nearly killed her and she’s so glad to be finished. 😂 More importantly, it was worth all of the hard work as it clearly came out AMAZING! Great job, Melissa!

Angela officially sent her daughter off to college.
Two weeks after turning 18, Angela’s daughter Morgan officially moved into her college dorm! Such a bittersweet month for her, but we know she’s going to do amazing things and is already adjusting to life as an adult.
On the other hand…Gary’s pretty moody over the whole thing. 🤣
Oh, Gary. LOL! 😂 We sure do love an update from this cool dude. Don’t worry buddy, Morgan will probably be home for Christmas!
Amber went to an alumni event to brush off her color guard skills.
The color guard was life for Amber in high school and early college. She was captain, KIDA Individual Champion in 2000, and instructed in college so she was thrilled to spin some equipment for the first time in 20+ years at an alumni event. How fun!
Lina found the dining table of her dreams.
Lina’s been big into thrift shopping lately and as it turns out a local shop had the mid-century dining table and chairs of her dreams! 🤩 This thrift find is made of teak, refinished with white leather seats, and is something that will surely last forever! We love a great find and supporting small businesses! 👏🏻
Jenna’s son turned 5 and they celebrated at a zoo where they can feed animals.
There’s nothing like getting up close and personal with some wildlife. When Jenna let her son pick what he wanted to do for his birthday he picked the Shalom Wildlife Zoo and they got to feed so many cool animals! Happy birthday, Lenny!
Chelsey sent her oldest off to kindergarten.
Many of us Hip sidekicks are gearing up for back to school and we can hardly believe summer has come to an end. 😩 Some of us have as many as 4 kiddos in 4 separate schools, some are homeschooling, and some are sending off their firstborns to kindergarten. Doesn’t Tate look so adorable?!
Cheers to a wonderful and healthy school year!

Is Alli a triplet? Looking at the pic, those ladies look so much alike! Great pics!
Hey Kimberly! We don’t have any twins/triplets in my family, we just all look so similar — but my mom (in the black sweatshirt) will be so thrilled to hear she was mistaken for a triplet! 😂❤️
She might need to guest post here about her skincare routine and makeup (or whatever age defying tricks she may know)!!!
Fantastic post! Will there be any more details on Melissa’s closet reno? I’m considering updating mine and would be very interested to hear about her process. TIA!
