What’s Up with Kmart?!
Believe me, if it wasn’t for the fact that Kmart occasionally offers the Double Coupon Events, I would probably never step foot in another Kmart again!!
First, let me address the recent $10 off $20 Kmart purchase coupon. I chose to post this coupon because it was available on the Kmart web-site AND specifically stated that it could be used at any Kmart location. Although some Hip2Save readers were successful in using this coupon, the majority of readers have had issues with it beeping and/or being told that the coupon is fraudulent (seems odd since Kmart had the coupon available on their web-site?!). At this time, the coupon is no longer available on Kmart’s web-site…despite attempts to call Kmart about this issue, I have not been able to receive any additional information on the status of the coupon. So I am making the assumption that the coupon is no longer valid. Darn! However, it doesn’t hurt to try to use it if you are making a trip to Kmart regardless. Sorry about the confusion…I am honestly just as frustrated as most of you!
OK, now on to a different Kmart topic…the upcoming Kmart Double Coupon Event! Here is all the nitty gritty that you need to know prior to your Kmart shopping trip:
- This event is for select participating Kmart locations from April 4th-10th
- You can use manufacturer coupons up to and including a $2 value (i.e. if you have a $2/1 coupon, it will be doubled up to $2 for a total of $4 off the price of the item)
- You must be a member of the Shop Your Way Rewards program AND the cashier MUST swipe your reward’s card at the beginning of your transaction!!*
- Does not include Kmart Store Coupons or Kmart Pharmacy Store Coupons (i.e. Kmart coupons will NOT be doubled)
- Limit 5 total coupons per customer per day.
- If you are using more than 5 coupons in your transaction, ONLY the first 5 coupons will be doubled.
*If you are not currently a Kmart Shop Your Way Rewards card member, do NOT stress! There are 3 simple ways to become a member:
- Go to the Customer Service Dept at your local Kmart or Sears store and request a card; you will be able to sign up and receive your card immediately (this is obviously the best option if you have a store close by)!
- Call the Shop Your Way Rewards Card dept at 1.800.991.8708; they will take all your information over the phone and then a card will be mailed to you (the card typically takes 6-8 weeks to arrive). Even if you do not have the physical card in hand for the double coupon days, you can give the cashier your phone # or member # in order to pull up your reward’s account.
- Click here to sign up on-line; then just print off a temporary card to use while you wait for the permanent card to arrive in the mail.

I couldn’t use mine today in Sierra Vista, AZ. They said it was for NY only.
I used the previous one posted on the hip to save blog at the oxon hill kmart this evening and I had no problems. Please note they do not have any more dolls in stock.
My local Kmart said that they were intended for New York only and that someone had copied the coupon and removed the portion that stated that, and that is what has gotten to the rest of us. Not sure if thats true but it what I was told.
I tried mine in Hershey, PA. It beeped and they had to put it in manually. The mgr did not allow the next person to use their coupon. I assume from reading this blog it is because of the corporate e-mail they received. Thanks for talking about it here!

So not true. You can tell that kmart expanded the coupon to add the Chicago Land stores making the coupon twice as long!

I tried this morning and they denied my coupon. =( So sad as I had a cart full of items that i would be purchasing. They mentioned that it was only for the “New York” store but on the coupon it says, “May be used at any Kmart store”. Very frustrated…oh well. Here’s to more savings other places. =)
I used the K-mart coupon last night with no problem but it beeped this morning when I went back and took two managers coming over to finally have it approved, don’t think I will go through that hassle again but I scored a couple really good deals on diapers!
I don’t have one nearby, so I haven’t used the coupon, but does anyone know when the martha stewart sale started? Everything is sold out now, but $0.20 for a lamp? does anyone know if these items were just a price error?

I didn’t check everything, just a few of the items. When dealsplus tweeted about it 2 hours ago I went right on and the ones I clicked on were already out of stock. I was just curious to as when it started, since that was the first I heard about it.
Wow, those prices have to be incorrect. 95% off? And everything seems to be unavailable now.
I will not be shopping at K-Mart… just not worth it to me. Too much of a hassle for $10 bucks at the most? Its a 20 minute drive. I’ll save the coupons for a closer deal!
I used the coupon several times in the last days…. they have to manually type in the code and it pops right up as a 10.00 off. I used it also on the 50% off of the aleady reduced shoes and the 2.99 joe boxer pjs. My store has been great about it! Hope that those of you that were able to get the coupon have better luck!!!
Is there a minimum amount you need to spend in order to get the coupons to double? Our local grocery store requires you to spend $25 before they double.
I was able to use it last night, but when I went this morning they said that their machines stopped taking it this morning and that they were only valid in NY – which is funny because the page it was found on was for Chicago stores?! I had a feeling that it was too good to be true, but, I’m glad I was able to get a couple packs of cheap diapers out of it. Collin, it’s not your fault 🙂
You mentioned a 5 coupon limit to be doubled, but can you also use kmart and other manufacturers coupons at their face value along with the 5 that were doubled? Thanks for the reply.
Do you have to spend a certain amount BEFORE they will double your coupons?
Yup – she said in her post “•If you are using more than 5 coupons in your transaction, ONLY the first 5 coupons will be doubled.” Meaning – if you have more than 5 coupons, only the first 5 will be doubled and the rest will be at their reg face value. HTH

a friend who used it yesterday/Thur. (in Texas) told me today/Friday that it is no longer working.
This is such a bummer. I used it yesterday with no problem…my friend is there today and I’m eager to see how it goes for her.
It’s an hour away and so not worth only 5 coupons. They have NEVER been very coupon friendly to me and it’s always such a hassle to double the coupons there.
Ours is about an hour away also. I’d spend more in gas roundtrip than it would be worth the savings.
YAY, I was able to use the coupon today for Princes and the Frog DVD and TIana doll combo, total was $7.49. Its usually a problem, but the cashier put it right through. I am thinking I need to run back after work to do another deal before they pull it here, too. Thanks, Collin.
Hey – My husband just got the dvd and doll but said his total was $18 ish…
how did your transaction go down? $20 for dvd, $10 something for doll…use $10 off and $5 for dvd… help?
On the front page of this week’s ad, it says you get $10 off automatically if you buy both the doll and the DVD.
Jamie, that almost happened to me. They were confused about the 10 off the purchase of both and thought it was my coupon. I persisted and they took another 10 off.

You should be able to use other coupons at face value along with the same transaction that the doublers are in. I know Kmart has other rules about that though, like they can only be for a certain percentage of the item you are buying. The doublers have no limit on how much of the cost of the item you are buying they can be, but I know normally they have rules on that for coupons.
I was able to use it last night, but when I went to Kmart this morning to get the huggies diaper deal they told me I could not use it. They said they received an e-mail this morning that it is only good at New York stores, even though it says all Kmart locations. I over heard someone else talking to the manger and pointed it out that the coupon said that, and he said that he could not honor the coupon since they received the e-mail.
Just wanted to let you know that I JUST used to the $10 of $20 about 45 minutes ago. The cash register didn’t allow it to go through so the cashier called someone else over after reading the fine print. That person then called someone ELSE over and they both said it looked fine. Their only concern seemed to be to make sure I wasn’t using it on B1G1 items – ??? So in the end, they just keyed it into the register and took the $10 off and we got our cheap Huggies 🙂 Hopefully it will still work for some other people – ???
only good in NY, huh? Maybe I should try it… I’m upstate. I figured it was too good to be true anyway and don’t think I would have felt good using a coupon that was pretty obviously not intended for widespread release and use (based on the Chicago Renissance focus of the page it came from)
Rosie T, I felt the same way. It was obviously intended for certain areas. The “Chicago Renaissance” wording on the page should have been everyone’s first clue. When the coupon said “All Kmart locations” it probably meant all Chicago area Kmarts.
I didn’t even bother printing here in Central NY either because I knew it was too good to be true. Why face the embarrassment and hassle?
I’m kinda glad the coupon isn’t working, because now I don’t have to set foot in that place! It was too good of a deal NOT to pass up but I was dreading the trip to Kmart… so I’m not even going to bother now… thanks? LOL

I did a deal today and I HATE K-mart but it’s like 1 mile from my house I had to try it and it worked for me. Kmart just keeps digging themselves into a hole. It’s a crappy overpriced store, excuse my french.
Yes, denied this morning! I was so excited about it and the girls from work and I went and were all denied the $10 coupon! grrr.. oh well. I am still excited about the double coupons coming up. Holding on to a few good coupons to try them out!
I just want to thank you for posting this last night. I was able to get 4 packs of diapers last night, and apparently was VERY luck to get 4 more packs this morning (9:30 am CST). I honestly don’t get why so many companies still publish multiple use, high value coupons. Then they are shocked when they get so many of them in the store. I hope that some day they will do a similar coupon with a limit for printing so more people will get to use it.
I will probably try the Kmart doubles. 5 coupons-a-day thing.
Well I used 3 of the coupons in different transaction and they worked.
As far as the coupodn being available on their website. Well while it came from kmart.com, if you actually went o Kmart.com you would never find it. It was linked to it. However, have you ever got email where they ask you for your bank info and it looks like the banks website…..well hackers can link things to make it appear like it come from there.
I’m not saying the coupon was invalid, i’m just saying that just because it said kmart.com doesn’t mean it was legit!!
Our Kmart closed years ago. I was wishing it was still here with all of the talk about double coupon days up to $2, but now it doens’t seem like that great of a deal. I mean, you can only use 5 coupons? What a bummer!! I can go to Kroger and they triple up to 29 cents and double up to 50 cents and I can use all the coupons I want.
YEAH FOR KROGER’S BRITT !! I shop there every week and have NEVER had any issues using a “ton” of coupons at once !! Saved $160 w/Kroger card and coupons last week !!
I love Kroger! Ours doubles up to 99 cents. They are so coupon friendly. They do super doubles once a quarter, or so.
WOW 99 cents!! That is cool! And yes, my Kroger is sooo coupon friendly too. One time, I had a HUGE pile of coupons and so I told the very nice cashier that I was sorry for all of the coupons she was having to scan and she said, “Oh no hunny, that is what I am here for!” I think Kroger is probably the best place to shop with coupons! I never have to worry about getting a grouchy cashier that hates me because I have coupons.
I have a “select” few cashiers I LOVE to go to thier register’s. No hassels NO worries !!
My Kmart has signs posted all over the service desk and each register that the $10 off $20 is not a valid coupon.
I’ll probably still do doubles for a few things. It doesn’t seem like there are that many worthwhile deals anyways.

Yesterday, I verified through the Kmart online customer support that it is a valid coupon and can be used at any store yesterday, before posting it to my blog. (www.bargainbombshellblog.com) The coupon comes from THEIR site. How could it possibly be fraudulent?
I was able to use it yesterday, but my total had to be $20 AFTER coupons. I’m pretty sure it rang up. I don’t think *?* they had to type it in.

I called Kmart’s customer service this morning was told that there have been lots of calls about this coupon. She said it is not fraudulent. The problem is that it was released too early. They are sending emails to all stores giving them this new info. The CSM said I should try again next week and she mailed me a 10% off coupon for my trouble. We’ll see…
What I don’t get, it if it’s only valid in NY and Chicago, what makes them so special to receive an awesome coupon like this, and not the rest of us. I’m surprised my local Kmart is even still here as no one ever shops there. I think we all deserve a coupon like this, not just select locations.
I hope K-mart CEO read this message. I hardly shop at K-mart it is because most of the prouducts are more expensive than walmart. Also, quality are not that great.
Now that we all have problem jus to use their coupon posted on their website (i mean do we have to sign up just to use coupon?). I say forget about K-mart.
I used it today in Michigan. It beeped, but they called a supervisor over and she read through the whole coupon and decided I met all the criteria and then just hand entered the discount. FWIW, I think Kmart should be REQUIRED to honor the coupon as it was on THEIR website and says VALID AT ALL KMART LOCATIONS. Anyone who is denied using the coupon, I’d sent a letter to Kmart. Maybe if they get enough letters they will rethink how they do things. I will not be even bothering with the double coupons as the limit of 5 coupons makes the drive and the expense of time and gas not worth it. 🙁
Is it just me or did anyone else not find 1 store in their entire store that is participating in the double event?? I am in Colorado, so if I missed one please let me know.
I honestly don’t know if I’m going to venture out this time for K-Mart doubles. Although I did amazing last year with their doubles events it’s not worth my time or the drive for just 5 coupons doubled per day. I printed off 2 of the $10/$20 k mart q’s and I may give it a try. I don’t understand how the cashiers can refuse to take it when it says on the q Valid at all K Mart Locations? I’ll just inform the cashier the code will have to be manually entered. I did get a $10 GC for filling a RX. there yesterday so who know’s, not really sure when I’ll make the next trip out there.
The coupon for Chicago has changed and now it lists specific Chicago stores. I called the one closest to me and they said they are taking it.
I called the main Kmart customer service, and they told me that the coupon is legit, but was released early from their website, and shouldn’t be valid until Sunday or Monday – which would make sense as to why it’s no longer available! I will call my store and check before heading back next week, but the customer service woman made it seem as though this will all be cleared with the stores in the next few days!

I was able to get thru to customer care. I had a TERRIBLE experience with my Kmart! The cashier had to call over a manager and when he looked @ it, he said, well if it doesnt go thru our computer, it isnt good and looked @ me like I was a criminal. I left my cart there and left. So, I called and spoke to Milton, who told me that they have recieved hundreds of calls about that coupon today and APPARENTLY, corporate did not let the stores know about this coupon and he said “this should be fixed next week. I would call the store next Friday to see if they have the information about it yet”. No way!!! You want me to call to see if you have done your job????? I will NEVER, EVER shop @ a Kmart or Sears ever again!
Soon enough they will go backrupt. They need better management.

Ok, so my question is this…are they having you scan your card proir to your purchase to track that you have used 5 coupons it in one day? I have 2 local KMart’s so I am guessing that by swiping my card, I can still only use 5 coupons/day even if I went to both stores…right?! Ok, 5 is better than nothing though. 🙂
worked last night, didn’t beep. today it did beep but without hesitating, just punched it right in for me(3 times!!) so i bought my kids summer and next winter clothes for under $50. whoopwhoop! might go there again tonight before they change their mind ;o)
Funny because when we used two of them yesterday (me and my husband) the lady at the service desk (where we checked out) said, “Oh, good, you have the right kind!” She said “We only accept online printed coupons that start with “4 4” on the bar code.
I sent my husband in to do the princess and the frog deal, but they were all out of the blu ray/dvd combos. He ended up just grabbing the dvd and the doll, and they took off the $10 for buying the doll and dvd, $10 off for the 10 off 20 coupon, and $10 off blu ray/dvd coupon! I don’t know why it worked for us here (in SD) but I am pretty happy about getting the dvd and doll for $1! Plus I am going to submit the 2 $5 rebates and end up making $9..woohoo!!
Oh, and I forgot to mention that this was this morning.

I do not like Kmart. Not worth my time. Stores are dirty, not well attended by personnel, and they almost never have what it advertised. And to double just 5 coupons per day? Totally not worth it to me. Hope you have better luck!
My store sucks and today reminded me why I hate it! I never shop there (except for double coupons), my $10 off $20 didn’t work either, they said it wasn’t printed from their site! I said. “well that’ where I printed it from”, they didn’t care, and didn’t care when I left everything on the belt and walked out either! I hate KMART!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
That’s a bummer, I kind of expected as much but I’m grateful to Collin for posting this last night because I got a chance to do the tp deal and I have the $10 off cat from that to use on the princess deal, after that I may never go to Kmart again 🙂
I will put up a big stink if they do not let me use the coupon, because they emailed it to me! I will print out my email to bring with me when I go there.
Corvallis Oregon store said no only for NY are when I called just now, but the Albany Oregon store said they are accepting it! Both are about 20 min from me and I am heading there in the next hour or so. Hope they still are going to accept it when I get there!
Another MARKETING SCHEME to get ALL of the consumers to TALK about and VISIT KMART Stores obviously… Good or Bad PUBLICITY is “STILL” publicity…. since they are going down the toilet as far as service, prices and availability of commodities….. THE KMART Marketing DEPARTMENT WINS on this one for sure!!!
I really have come to hate shopping at KMart. What in the world is wrong with them. The cashier acted like i was using a coupon i typed up and made myself. What a waste of time. don’t offer coupons if you don’t want to be coupon friendly. I just left my whole cart.

(and when i say NY i mean the city, i live in NY and 98% if the state is not the city). he was very nice but didn’t take it. i doubt they will even do the kmart doubles., even though they are on the list.
I will NOT participate in K Mart doubles. I would bet the stock will be very limited, the store will be very crowded, the cashiers extremely frustrated. For 5 possible free or close to free items? NO THANKS!
When I think of KMART I honestly think of the “dumpster diving of stores” ..I only go there during the cereal deals that Collin posted and the doubles….even this doubles seems fishy to me…we shall see…as for the coupon…I am worth more than the $10.00 savings…they can have it!!
I used mine last night! The Kmart I went to is doing away with the grocery section so I got a very cheap turkey (.59/lb) and some capris pants! Yay! 🙂
