Walgreens Corporate Coupon Policy Now LIVE!
Oh my gosh, I never thought that I would actually be posting a Walgreens Corporate Coupon Policy!! Can YOU believe it?! Those of you who have been couponers for quite a while understand my excitement…especially, those of you who have run into issues at Walgreens. As always, I recommend that you head over here and print a copy of the policy for yourself.
Here are some of my favorite points…
* In the event that any item’s selling price is less than the value of the coupon, Walgreens will only accept the coupon in exchange for the selling price of the item. (This means that the cashier/manager should adjust the coupon value down to match the item’s value)
* When purchasing a single item, Walgreens accepts one manufacturer coupon and applicable Walgreens coupon(s) for the purchase of a single item, unless prohibited by either coupon offer.
* When items are featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased. (Woo Hoo! Yippee! Are you jumping for joy with me as well?!)
* Walgreens accepts valid internet/print at home coupons.
Let us know what you think of this new policy in the comment section below. Personally, I am really impressed by the policy…thanks Walgreens for listening!!
Maybe all those recorded phone calls to Walgreens made a difference, right?! ๐
(Thanks, Amy!)
“* When purchasing a single item, Walgreens accepts one manufacturer coupon and applicable Walgreens coupon(s) for the purchase of a single item, unless prohibited by either coupon offer.”
Does that mean I can use a RR AND a MC on 1 Item? OR are they talking about the Monthly Coupon Books?
I think that they’re talking about the manufacturers coupons and the wags coupons not RR
I think you may be right…but so what about multiple items? Do we still need fillers for equal products to coupons??
Woopsy…read the policy Rhonda…yes we still have to have # of products per # of coupons at least. Excuse me.
Yahoo! Sounds good to me!
And thank you Collin for all that you do!
Well, I’m glad to see there’s now a policy. Personally, I still won’t shop there b/c the customer service is sooooo bad (and not in a coupon related way either,) but to each his own.
I was afraid to start to read it at first…lol
So now i have a question about :”When items are featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased”
So for example, they have this month the got2be for $5.49 BOGO, i have a coupon for a free item and a $2.50, i can’t use both of them, right? since it will go overage…
I bought them yesterday and didn’t have any problems, but wondering for the future since i have more coupons for that
TIA
I think it’s about time and am stuffing this in my binder pronto. ๐
WOOHOO!!! This is going to make for some very upset checkers unless they have schooled them well! And I am sorry about that…but payday is always a stinker! ๐
YAY!!! Your videos totally made the difference!! ๐ LOL Thanks for posting – will definitely make my trips to Walgreens less frustrating!!
YEY!!!
do we still have to follow the coupon to item ratio at wags?
Yes, it does state that.
from the link provided:
“The number of manufacturer coupons, including Register RewardsTM manufacturer coupons, may not exceed the number of items in the transaction.”
Yes, and that’s what I was hoping they would change, but no go ๐
At my Wags they always counted the Walgreens ad coupons toward the item total so I’m happy that now I do not have to purchase extra items for those coupons.
YEAH! hip hip hooray! now i can shop there without being looked at as a criminal! maybe i’ll go get that visine if the coupon has not expired…oh the hassles they gave me over that one penny. and remember the b1g1 purex back in feb…what a disaster. I can only hope their employees know about the policy. yiipppeeeee. sosososo excited ๐
I am soo glad they finally did this!!!
Nice!
WAHOO!!! I seriously can’t believe everything came out in our favor. I was genuinely thinking this would be a give and take (yes, they’d give us a corporate coupon policy, but not everything would be accepted). I am so excited! Collin – thank you for blowing the whistle on this and making those recorded phone call videos. I am hoping many more of us will be able to enjoy Walgreens again (after a few months of retraining the distorted coupon knowledge of many Walgreens managers and cashiers)!! Thank you, Collin! You do make a huge difference in thousand of lives.
Well, my problem (only at the Wags closest to my house) is that when I use a Q on a RR item, they tell me I can’t get the RR. There isn’t anything here on that scenario ๐
I get the same problems. We need some more detail about register rewards on items we get with coupons!
So do they keep the RR when it prints out or does it just not print out? Mine always print out when using a MFQ. I only have trouble with a couple of checkers. I try to avoid them when I shop there.
it doesn’t print out. And they say the reason is because I use coupons, that if I want the RR then next time I should pay full price!
BTW, I’m chatting with Walgreens right now.
Its not looking good. I’ll have the conversation I had posted on my blog. Jlhphotomom.blogspot.com.
I used coupons this week for the cereal deal where you get RRs back, I had no problems doing that.
There is a form that the manager can give you. You send your receipt in to the Catalina company and will eventually get your RR. It’s snail mail, so you will have to wait 4-6 weeks, but at least you will get it. I wish I could help more.
They just don’t print out. And the manager gets huffy when I question it!
You should be able to use a Q just fine and get a RR, no problem! I have never had a problem with doing that. I just did that last night with the Kellogg’s cereal RR. ๐
Actually, I did have one transaction recently that didn’t kick out the RR. BUT, that was only because I had used a RR from the SAME COMPANY to buy the item. That was my mistake, not Walgreen’s.
For example, when you use a RR from let’s say … the Kellogg’s company … (it should say on the RR which company it’s from) … you can’t buy more Kellogg’s cereal with that RR and expect another Kellogg’s RR to kick out. You can use RR from different companies (ie, Pepsi) and it will work just fine … but not if it’s the same company as on the RR.
Does that make sense?
AWESOME! Thanks for your efforts Collin. I may just try to shop at Walgreens again!
It is a great day for couponers!!!!
So on a bogo free sale, can we use a bogo free coupon and get the two items free?
The way I read it… No. It’s a shame too since CVS and Rite Aid allows it. I hope this will change. I am happy they will accept two now though ๐
How do you read it that way? It says you can use up to 2 coupons and the total cannot fall below zero- a bogo coupon is 1 coupon and the total will not fall below zero.
“Buy One, Get One Free Coupons
When items are featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased.
Sales tax must be paid for any Buy One, Get One Free coupon offers, if required by applicable state laws. ”
I’m reading yes.
Me too. ๐
Yes. I understand they accept up to 2 BOGO coupons, so total 4 items will be free.
the answer is no! I just asked Walgreens
You asked who at Walgreens? A manager at a store you go to? Did you call Corporate?
I hope we get this ironed out and the answer is in our favor!!!!!!!!!!!!
from what I read on your chat is that they are STILL leaving it up to store managers to determine if some coupons can be used together, i.e. BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale. That does not sound good to me.
WOOOOHHHOOOO! I’m so excited!
Yeah! So excited not be told to by one item at a time with same mutiple coupons. Yeah for the new policy!!!
Why does it say RR cannot be used for dairy products?
Also, is this coupon policy effective immediately?
RR have always had fine print on them with what they exclude. One of the exclusions has always been dairy. However, some cashiers still accept RR on dairy items. Personally, I just don’t purchase dairy with my RR because I don’t want to do something not allowed.
Thanks.
I’ve always been a CVS’er b/c Walgreens has too many complications.
Thanks for the heads up!
Seriously? I never knew this. I use these all the time to purchase milk. Weird.
Rock on I am going there after work so now I can have something in hand! Thanks Wags!
Wow!! This is great news. I think they finally listened and I think it is because of you Collin. Without your recorded phone calls and comments and emails to the company, I don’t think they would have implemented a company wide policy. Yay for free items, especially the imotions this week. That penny over was making a big hassle.
It still says “guidelines” at the top! does that mean that they can use it as a “guide” and not as the “rules”?
We’ve probably all done a little complaining to Walgreens regarding their lack of a coupon policy. It’s time to go to Walgreens website and thank them for the coupon policy. If there are areas in the policy that still need clarification, we should make our reccomendations. If anything, now is the time that they might consider making minor adjustments.
Wow, I just might shop at Walgreens again!
My take on the new polic…
The number of manufacturer coupons, including Register RewardsTM manufacturer coupons, may not exceed the number of items in the transaction.
Uh oh! What if I want to pay with 5 $1 Regsiter Rewards for a $6 item? That 5 coupons for one?
If you want to use 5-$1 RR, you have to purchase at least 5 items in one transaction.
So does that mean I can stack a manuf coupon with the monthly coupon book? I am so frustrated with Walgreens that I try to avoid shopping there. The Walgreen stores where I live won’t allow me to stack them saying they are both manufacturer’s coupons ๐
I’m with you! I always HAD done that until this week…they said no. Have the coupon books always said manufacturer Q??
I haven’t shop Wags this week, but I could always stack with Manu Q and wags coupon book and in-ad Q on one item with no problem.
This is the issue I have with one of the Walgreens near me. Cashier told me it was fraud for trying to use Wags coupon book coupon with a regular manuf coupon. Said they were BOTH manuf coupon. I called corp when I got home & was told even though their coupon book coupons SAY manuf coupons, they are considered STORE coupons & can be used WITH a manuf coupon. The rep I spoke to said they would call that store & clear up the confusion & have the manager call me. The manager made 1 attempt to call me but didn’t leave a message when I wasn’t home. I’ve never been back to that store.
Thank you! I thought I was crazy. I have ALWAYS used both but this week she said ‘no, they are both manufacturer Q’s.’ uuugghh. Maybe she needs to brush up on the new policy ๐
Thanks Collin! I’m off to Walgreens to get the $3.99 Airwick that they wouldn’t let me use the
$4.00 coupon for.
Have the COUPON BOOKS always said manufacturer coupon?? I could not use book Q and a printed Q together. I had before. ??????????
yes – the monthly book coupon has always read manufacturers coupon…
Yay! Thank you.
Collin,
How rewarding for the coupon policy you fought so hard for to come out today. Just another example of how one person (YOU) can make a world of difference!
You spoke, you were HEARD!!!!! You are truly AWESOME!
Nice Job Collin!!!! Kudos to you ๐ Love your site…saved me TONS since April.
Yay!! Sounds good to me!! And thank you Collin, you made a difference!! I’m sure Wags listened to you and your video!!
This is by far the best and most comprehensive coupon policy available. Wal-Mart, CVS, and other stores should take notice and follow suit.
AWESOME AWESOME
The one I always had problems with was the 2 coupons on the BOGO and it clearly states it is acceptable!! YEAH!!!
I’M SOOO EXCITED!!! AND I JUST CAN’T HIDE IT!!!!
:p
WOW!!! I’m so excited, my local Wags was not letting me use anymore internet coupons, because they told me that one person went one day with fake grocery coupons for free coffee, milk and so on. So, I guess now I can show this to the “very rude manager” that claimed he was going to extinguish the register rewards with coupons all together LOL
Thanks Collin! As a new couponer (is that a word? you know what I mean!) your blog has made a world of difference!
This is so awesome, now I can’t wait to go shopping at Walgreens!!! ๐
They should have a date listed for updates, like updated 8/26/10, for any variation comparisions in the future, and so everyone will know of the most updated version, especially if the store’s don’t keep up and it’s to shoppers’ advantage(s).
Long overdue and yes I totally understand what you mean…thank you so much for posting this policy !
I just went to WAGS this morning and the manager would not adjust my Q down to the price of the item. They had the Frixion pens for 1.99 less the monthly coupon of .99 = .99. I had a Q for $1 and he would not accept it. Maybe the managers need a copy of the policy.
Did you buy with just a pen? If so, you can still try to buy those pens with other inexpensive items(like Butterfinger or $0.09 stationary etc.), so $0.01 overage from coupons will be absorbed with no problem without adjusting the coupon down. Or if you have other Wags to shop, better try that one. Hope all the managers read and understand their coupon policy.
Well, from their coupon policy, they can adjust the coupon price down if they need to, that means you don’t need to add a filler for overage. Sorry about my previous post.
I did buy other items but he said they couldn’t accept the Q for more that the price of the item. I asked him to adjust it and he said he couldn’t. ๐
Bring the policy and show each manager and each manager “sub.” If we all keep bringing the policy in, it will EVENTUALLY get to everyone. We WILL educate the Walgreen’s staff if corporate doesn’t.
YEAH!!! Thank you! I had a conversation with an assistant manager because I try so hard to do things right and it is impossible to figure out what is “right” when different managers allow different things!
Oh my I am so excited. Maybe now the cashier who hates me can get over it and finally accept my coupons without an argument. I’ve been avoiding shopping at Walgreens so hopefully this will help make it smoother!
well- I’m pretty happy with this policy- it actually outlines answers to most issues- specifically tells WAGS to adjust a coupon (I’d just stopped bothering to redeem $4 coupons on $3.99 items- they always refused!), explains RR usage (something the store should have done when it rolled out the RR program), says you can use applicable walgreens coupons (plural) on a single purchase, and even says you can use multiple coupons with multiple items (transaction vs purchase clarification).
Now if they would stop printing “manufacturer’s coupon” on their coupons things would be nearly perfect!
I don’t want them to stop printing MQ on the rr! Our grocery store accepts them!
I think your video definitely lead to this policy!
I love the part about price adjusting coupons. In the past, my wags would not let me use a $5 coupon for a $4.99 item. Now when the register beeps, I can just put out my printed policy and show them where corperate says its okay!
This is exciting! I’m thrilled for all of you who have had to deal with crazy cashiers who bicker with you about everything in this policy. I thankfully have a great Wags staff who totally understands about coupons. (Shout out to Joan and Krista- you guys rock!!!) I’m glad to have this policy in my phone for other Wags locations who might not be as savvy about coupons.
Thank you! I still think I will stick to CVS, but if Wags has any amazing deals then I might print this and attempt to go again..just so many bad experiences there..I get anxiety just thinking about going. But thank you Collin for all u do ๐
I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am that these rules are now clearly laid out!!! Now, I can go get my Airwick b1g150% off Compact iMotion’s!!!
Woohooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
