Walmart: Apology & $10 eGift Card in My Inbox (Did You Receive This Too?!)

Earlier this week, there were many of you (including myself!) who jumped on the opportunity to snatch up the 3.5 Ft. Cardboard Race Car AND Markers or Crayons from Walmart.com for only $1.97 shipped. Unfortunately, the majority of us received just the crayons and/or markers but not the Cardboard Race Car. So imagine my surprise when I checked my email this morning and discovered the following from Walmart…

Unfortunately, there has been an error with the bundle you recently ordered on our site. One or more of the items you selected was unavailable, and we are unable to send you the missing item(s). We apologize for any inconvenience, and want you to know you may keep the other items from this bundle free of charge and we will issue a full refund. You will receive a separate email with your refund amount within the next 48 hours.

Also, to thank you for your understanding, we’re emailing you a $10 eGift Card to apply towards a future Walmart purchase online or in stores. You’ll receive the eGift Card in a separate email within 48 hours.

Although I was initially disappointed that I was not able to snag the Cardboard Race Car and the Crayons/Markers for only $1.97, I think that the fact that Walmart is formally sending an apology email AND giving me a $10 eGift Card is pretty darn great! ๐Ÿ™‚ What about you?     I got the email too but it wasn’t for this bundle since I didn’t try and get this one. It was for the camera bundle and the vacuum bundle. I do think it’s great that they’re letting us keep the products AND giving an eGift card.

    I got it…and I agree with you! I am pretty impressed with Walmart! I know I might be in the minority but Walmart has more often than not been very good to me and my family! The pricematching, the couponing, the good deals have all been pretty great!! THANKS WALMART!

      I’m with you J! My Walmart is pretty good with coupons and I can’t live without it. I always do pricematching(with/without coupons) and they have decent stock. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Wal mart in Rockwall texas 75087, does not want to match FIESTA or other Mexican supermarkets advertised offers. Thay are claiming only big stores KROGER,Tom Thumb.
    The manager of the store is also saying stores need to be within 5 miles of walmart.
    Is this true?

      Luna, I’m in Washington state. Our Walmart is GREAT. Very clean and the employees are nice. They will price match all the stores in our area (probably a 20 mile radius suburban area). Their only exception (and this has bothered me since there is nothing in their policy about this) is that they won’t price match MEAT unless it is an exact brand. That means nothing that is store packed will qualify. Our Fiesta Food store (not sure if it is the same as yours) often has fabulous deals on meat. Walmart will match their ads EXCEPT for the meat saying that Walmart carries a higher quality product (actually they won’t price match ANY meat from other stores either for the same quoted reason). I have contemplated writing to Walmart corporate, but haven’t taken the time yet. I think that you should contact the corporate office, because I’ve heard of them calling and correcting the managers at individual stores. Good luck. ๐Ÿ™‚

      Luna, It’s nice to see someone from the same area. My house is close to the lake in Garland across the bridge from you. I had price match fruits&veggies from Aldi ad at Walmart (Garland, Rowlett). I never price match meats so not sure about that.

    I just received my email with the subject heading…. You have a Wamart e-card from Walmart.com customer service. However, my email does not have any content. Did any one else receive this from Walmart not enclosing the E-gift card?

      I had to contact customer service through email. Customer service resent the email and my e-card was enclosed.

      I received my refund yesterday. So, yes, it is a full refund, a $10 ecard, AND you get to keep the markers. Walmart really stepped up on this one!! I am very impressed!

    OMG! Thank you, Colin! If I hadn’t read your post, I most likely would have ignored/deleted that email. The email was sent to me last night as HTML text.

    I could not view it in IE, but I could in Firefox. If you cannot open it, you might want to try another web browser.

    I got the same email, had ordered 4 different sets (they had a grocery store, the fire truck, and two other different ones) these were all bundled with the crayons or markers. Well all were errors I guess, but they said to keep the crayons and markers (I got 4) and they refunded my $8 something in fees plus sent the gift card.
