Wow, hope I get it! My offer was different: 4 stars=$5, 6 stars=$10. A little better, but came in my mailbox a day after Collin posted.

  2. Nl

    Omg u lucky people! Lol
They just stopped sending me offers. Annoying ๐Ÿ™

  3. Jean

Mine was 7 and 10 stars (for $5/$10 respectively). I hope I get the 4 star bonus!

    • Marie

I had the same offerbuy it included a bonus star. Unfortunately it won’t let me add the bonus star to my account.

      • Sarah

Same here..It says invalid code. ๐Ÿ™

  4. Barbara

I have been trying to join the dash for 2 days now. Following the directions and logging in but cannot find the join the dash button. Also the star code that Starbucks gave me does not work. Anyone else have this issue. I contacted customer service and they were of no help. Just told me the site was having issues and to wait 24 hours. Still after more than 24 same issue. Maybe I am not looking in the right place. If anyone can guide me I would be thankful.

    • Michelle L.

Yes, I am having the same issues. The Customer Service said their system is down for up to 48 hours and they suggested I try to enter my bonus star code later.

      • Jean

I was having issues trying to do it from my phone. I worked from my computer though! HTH!

        • Marie

I should have read through the comments before responding. I will try it from my computer.

      • Barbara

Do you have to separately register for the dash or is it automatic? I finally got the code to work but cannot find anywhere to register for the dash as the instructions state.

  5. jostlen

HI Everyone! I received the 4 bonus star email BUT I didn’t receive the Holiday Stars Dash email (nor was it on my account when I logged in). I’m already at a green level, I’m not sure what these 4 extra stars will do for me. I’m a long way from getting a gold star.

    • Jenifer

Would you be interested in trading your stars for something then? It takes 30 stars in a year to get to gold level so if you are not trying to work towards that I could send you some coupons for the stars. jcr18 @ comcast dot net

  6. axhilli

Wow that’s nice. I would be surprised to get it since I got the star dash that’s 4 stars = $5 and 6 stars = $10. The email with the star dash gave me a free star so I only need 5 stars so I don’t expect to get this cause if I did they would basically be giving away $10 for 1 star.

  7. An

Hi, In order to redeem the kid’s offer, should the kid be present. One time I tried purchasing 1 kids hot chocolate and they wouldn’t let me. Is this some rule I haven’t seen?

    • Mary S.

I was able to redeem it yesterday without a kid present.

      • An

There was no promo on this day. I wanted a smaller and cheaper cup of hot chocolate. The barista looked at me disgusted like I am trying to take advantage of a cheaper price and told me that the kid must be present. This is really getting on my nerves now. Not only she was lying but she was rude while doing so.

        • Kelli t

Lol sorry to hear that. Hope she didn’t decaf u

          • An

I wasn’t looking for caffeine but for hot chocolate. Hot chocolate contains caffeine but I didn’t care for it.

    • Ashley

I used to work for Starbucks, The normal kid hot chocolate price is a special price for children. The same size drink would actually be a higher price if it is not rung up as a “child” drink. And they also make the child drinks only warm and not hot. It is kind of an unspoken rule at starbucks that you would only order a child drink for a child.

      • Mourrene

I get the unspoken rule but that’s sort of a bummer if you only want a small portion. I’m that way with ice cream–I usually only want the kid’s portion and sometimes that’s still to much because I don’t like a lot of ice cream. I do know adults who order kiddie sizes cuz it’s cheaper(hilarious to me!) but I sometimes genuinely only want a little of something.

      • An

There are no unspoken rules. This is the definition of rules – they are spoken. See if you say intuitive – I agree with you.
I personally saw it was the cheapest on the menu and because I have never ordered it, I thought it was a little bit smaller than the tall and I usually order tall drinks. I thought there are indeed kids cups.
You say unspoken rule but you either give the drink or refuse it and if you refuse it I definitely would recommend to everyone who refuses it to verify that the presence of a kid is indeed a requirement. And it isn’t. I just called customer service. And he told me nobody has the right to refuse me a kids drink with or without a child.

        • Jennifer

An — sounds like YOU have the attitude and are intent on creating a drama where there is none. A child’s drink at Starbuck’s is indeed smaller and heated to a lesser temperature. It is not intended for adults. Rather, it is intended to allow parents who frequent Starbuck’s and purchase more expensive drinks, to purchase a smaller drink for their children. It is a courtesy. Starbuck’s can’t keep their doors open based on the sale of children’s drinks. You aren’t a child, ergo, you shouldn’t purchase or demand a free child’s drink. If it’s the size you wanted, you could have asked, and paid, for a short hot chocolate. I believe it’s still on the register, although that size has dropped off their menu board.

What I have found in my years of retail experience is that people use the badge “customer” as permission to harass those behind the counter to the point that we have a hair trigger (for lack of a better term). You see it as capriciousโ€Ž enforcement of the parameters of a child’s drink, we see it as someone who isn’t purchasing anything to support our store and keep our doors open demanding something free that they aren’t entitled to, as they aren’t a child. It’s a gray area that could go either way. The employee could tell themselves that there is probably a child in the car and let it go or they could call the customer out on it.

I’m sorry you experienced this. I don’t know you or your situation. But I definitely can sympathize with the barista. Especially seeing your attitude here. Even if she would have diffused the situation, you wouldn’t have seen it as getting something you weren’t entitled to, you wouldn’t have appreciated her gesture. You just thought it was your due. And she can’t explain why it’s not, because she’s behind the counter. So I’ll do it for her — child’s drinks are for children. A free child’s drink is intended to incentivize a parent to come to Starbuck’s and purchase a drink. Hopefully, they will love it and return some other day and purchase more drinks. It’s marketing, not charity.

Those of us who love Starbuck’s and have worked there understand the culture and WHY it is important that Starbuck’s sell their drinks. They provide good, affordable health insurance for all employees. Very few businesses do. They spend more each year on health insurance than they do on coffee beans. They try to be good to their employees.

          Hope that helps. Happy holidays.

      • RT

If its unspoken its not a rule, it’s just an individual being a jerk and power tripping!

        • An

It is true – if it is not written or spoken it is not a rule. Give an example of a rule that is not spoken or written. On the contrary, I am not a jerk and not thinking I am better than anyone else. As a matter of fact, I was treated like I am less than a regular customer. As you see regular customers are supposed to get whatever drinks they want. Power tripping is someone who is creating false rules and enforcing them without right to do so. And jerks are those who call other people jerks with no justification.
Give me an example of a rule that is not written or stated somewhere but it is a rule? And don’t give me this example because this is an example of a power tripping barista. See I am a person who will never refuse a customer his purchase if I am not 100% sure I have the right to do so.

        • An

Companies are not supposed to have unspoken rules for customers. That is why they have official rules for various promos and offers. It is not rare a person to buy a drink for his/her child when the child is in the car. She must have dealt with this situation before. I doubt she has said no to a mother purchasing 2 drinks – one of which for kids. It is simply is a rule or not a rule – it is not her job to establish whether I have a child or the drink is for me. If I am willing to drink a child’s drink this is up to me. If someone is not happy and feels they have “unspoken rule” which they should pretend is spoken and official then good for them. But next time someone tries to enforce this rule to me, I will notify them that no such restriction exists and they better stop being power trippers. When I am the customer, I will not tolerate being taught nonexistent rules.

        • An

And calling me “a contemptibly obnoxious person” is really rude simply because I stated the truth.
rules – definition- one of a set of explicit or understood regulations or principles governing conduct within a particular activity or sphere
I don’t know are you governed by “unspoken rules” in life but apparently you have missed the “spoken”. Because don’t offend people is a spoken rule you’ve missed completely.

          • M

I am sorry you were treated so poorly at your Starbucks. As far as the “rule” is concerned many menu boards in the past have stated that the kids hot chocolate is for age 12 and under. I haven’t been to a Starbucks in a while so that may have changed. But if there are employees who knew the menu said that then that may be why they enforced a “rule” that’s maybe not a rule. At best it’s been vague for the employees and puts them in an awkward position. Whatever the case may be it shouldn’t be done rudely.
Second, I don’t understand the statement being treated “less than a regular customer.” Every person whether they are a regular, or a person who has only been to Starbucks once, should be treated with respect, and be able to get “whatever drink they want.” Being a regular does not give someone seniority or priority over anyone else. If someone wants a smaller size hot chocolate the barista should offer a short hot chocolate.

(Just a thought about the topic: I think Starbucks has the right to charge more for an adult’s drink than for a kid’s drink of the same size in just the same way that a movie theater has the right to charge more for adults’ tickets than kids even though a child ticket costs less for the same movie.)

  8. dawn

I am getting none of these great deals. I even talked to Starbucks yesterday and they said it was random….I apparently have really BAD luck.

    • RT

Me neither, don’t feel bad! I’m gold level too and still not getting them!

  9. Marissa

I got this email but instead of 4 bonus stars, they only gave me one star. Better than nothing haha.

  10. daltonjsmom

FYI: to earn extra stars, you can do a separate transaction to buy a $5 GC using your registered card (GC or gold card). You could do this to give them as gifts, register them to your account and to used yourself, or transferred the balance back to your gold card. A free way to earn extra stars!

    • Stefanie

I always have them do each item I order on a “separate” transaction, because the barista told me that you get a star for each time they swipe your card, whether it is for a drink, pastry, or even to reload it!

      • daltonjsmom

Yup. I will do 2 individual transactions when I come in, stay and plan a shop or clip Q’s or whatever while I enjoy my treat(s) and then do 2 more before I leave. I usually include a package of nuts for my school bag pocket, a gift card, or a mini-scone if I am trying to rack up stars. Please keep in mind I come in every Sunday morning and buy from Sbux, even when I have no promotions or discounts.

  11. Stefanie

I got the email but when I went to redeem them and put the code it, it told me it had already been redeemed. What the heck?? ๐Ÿ™

  12. Mourrene

I never get these deals. )-: Oh well. Since two of the 3 stores near me closed, I don’t get there as often. Do you get stars for the Starbucks in Target? That’s the only one near me now.

    • Brianna

Yep! But you can only redeem them or other special offers at a regular Starbucks. So none of the coupons would work there.

      • Mourrene

        Oh, okay. Thanks Brianna!

  13. pharm_chick

i didn’t get this one but i did get a buy 4 get $5 buy 6 get $10 so i am going to go regularly to starbucks to earn my stars!! haha.

also i tried using the free hot chic at my target but they couldn’t take it. bummer since thats the only starbucks near me.

    • pharm_chick

      hot chocolate**** LOL!!!

      • Jennifer

        hilarious!!!!

  14. leslie

My offer is different. 10 stars, $5. Seriously, Starbucks? I don’t want the free drink. I want the free soy. :p

    • Abraxas

Glad to see I’m not alone. My Dash was $5 for 10, $10 for 16. Clearly they use your existing history to set the targets so I guess you, Leslie, drink a lot of Starbucks like me.

  15. Mabel

I didnt get the star dash offer but my huaband did on his account (4 stars = $5, 6 stars = $10. And i got the free 4 stars email :). So i just gave him the 4 star code to use on his account and it worked!!

  16. Samantha

I received the code but I try to put it in on my computer and it says “Oops something went wrong!” Contacted customer service and haven’t heard back.

  17. katie

do I have to earn 4 stars during the dash or could I be starting with say 3 stars earn 1 more and have 4 stars to get the egift?

    • Barbara

Do you need to register for the dash? Please answer if you know. The email. I got appears that you doubt when I follow the directions there is no place to register. Thanks

    • Marie

You have to earn the stars after registering for the dash.

I earned a star yesterday morning and received the email yesterday afternoon. When I registered it didn’t transfer the star from that morning.

      • Barbara

Hi Marie, how do you register for dash? I log in and see know where to register. Any help. Thanks barbara

  18. Jessica S.

I’m not having any of these issues. My issues is they only let me enter 2 star codes a day. I was able to enter at least 5 a day (saved my codes from all those bagged coffee deals! :-)) but now, it’ll either kick the code out or tell me I’ve netered in my allotted codes for the day. Odd.

  19. Migdalia

I got the 4 free stars. Now I’m just 10 away from Gold. But I don’t have the dashboard.I have not received an email but did get a txt message inviting me to join.I really hope I do get it too.I did it the last time and won free drink, free food item and $15 in gift cards.

    • Migdalia

Yay!Just signed in to my account and the dashboard is finally there! Its also counting the 4 free stars that I got yesterday.Let the game begin ๐Ÿ™‚
