Update on TopCashBack Virgin Mobile Offer

If you took part in the TopCashBack Virgin Mobile offer, you may have received a message today via email or noticed a message in your account. If not, I wanted to be sure to share this message with you that was sent to me directly from TopCashBack:

Dear Hip2Save readers,

We would like to thank you ever so much for your patience over the last week-or-so as we worked behind the scenes continuously to resolve the $35 Virgin Mobile cashback hitch.

We have been in multiple discussions with Virgin Mobile and its agent regarding the “$35 cashback for any handset purchase” offer that was available over the weekend of September 19 through 22. Although we placed the offer correctly on TopCashback.com and despite repeated requests, Virgin Mobile has informed us it will not pay out cashback on your order unless the handset is activated. We do not feel this is fair to our members so, we are very pleased to tell you that, in line with our fair play policy, TopCashback will honour the offer displayed on our site.

As long as the transaction has posted in your TopCashback account, we will make the $35 cashback payable within the next two to three weeks.

To be clear: if you do decide to activate the handset, TopCashback will receive the $35 cashback from Virgin Mobile rather than us paying you it out of our own pocket; but whatever you decide to do with the handset, you will receive the full amount of cashback you expected.

Once again, thank you very much for your understanding while we worked to resolve this situation. Our aim is to always do the best for our members and we hope you continue to enjoy our money-saving services.

      Hi Lawman, We just want to be clear here that we put our members first in everything we do. This has cost us a significant amount to now fund the deal ourselves and there was no intention to upset anyone or profit here. We were simply told that cashback wouldn’t be paid and our response has been to pay members what was initially tracked. We feel that we’ve shown here that we do put members first and really do stand by our fair play policy. Many thanks, TopCashback Support

        The complaints online, TCB’s D- with the Better Business Bureau
        and the complaints in this forum are examples of HOW BAD
        you treat your customers!

        I appreciate the gesture, but if this is the formal response why are your representatives only offering me $11.99 on my support ticket?

          Agreed! Neither my or my boyfriends offer tracked and they’re only offering us $11.99 as compensation; however, they’re all over this thread acting like the hero saying they will “stand by” their fair play policy and honor it even for those whose purchases did not track. If that were the case they would be offering us the FULL $35 as promised in the ad, NOT $11.99. The receipt I submitted, the money withdrawn from my bank account and tracked click through on the site is proof enough I purchased, so why should I be offered any less than somebody whose purchase successfully tracked by also did not activate the phone?

          I will never use topcashback again.

      They said in previous posts they would make good on the $35 if tracked
      and if not tracked (with proof of purchase) they would make good on the
      purchase price. – although not happened yet.
      I don’t think they are totally to blame so I for one
      am giving them a chance to make good on their promise.
      Virgin might deserve more blame than Tcb. Remains to be seen…

        How is Virgin Mobile to blame you didnt work with Virgin Mobile you did business with Top Cash Back. You have no idea what Virgin Mobile sent them about this deal. Funny how people want to blame Virgin Mobile because thats what TopCashBack said…ha.

    I think it is great they are doing this. I actually chatted with a rep from Virgin Mobile when I was buying this (she popped up; I guess I was taking too much time to decide on the phone) and she said that I DID NOT have to activate the phone because I explained that I was buying it for an Xmas gift so I would be giving it away. She said that was fine.

    My family members and I have sent missing cash back claims almost 2 weeks ago because they didn’t track the purchases but the claims are still on hold. At first it said the claims would be submitted around October 7th but now it says around the 13th…

      Your only option if NOT TRACKED will be to get
      the purchase price of the phone back (as posted by TopCashBack rep)
      with proof of purchase or activation. They stated that they will pay $35 only if your
      purchase tracked! Good Luck to you.

      I can assure you that if you provide us with the activation of this untracked purchase then we’ll be able to award the $35.00 into your account however if you haven’t activated this then we will award the total cost of your order so that you aren’t out of pocket here.

      If you are still waiting for your missing cash back claim to be resolved the I can assure you this is receiving our attention and we hope to be able to update you all within the next couple of days.

    My mom and I both signed up for TopCashback through a referral link. Neither one of us can access our account now. When we try to login it states they cannot recognize our emails or our passwords are incorrect. We both tried to reset our passwords and we receive a message to check and make sure our emails are correct. Both of us received verification links when we initially signed up and we both have emails from TopCashback. I don’t understand how they can be sending us emails but on the site they state they do not recognize us. We both purchased these phones and now cannot even access our account to check on the status. My mom sent a message to TopCashback through there contact link regarding this and she has not received a response.

    I just wanted to let you know that I got the money from this deal plus a referral credit too. I requested the money thru Paypal and it was there the next morning. Thanks so much for sharing this deal Colin. I used the money I made to purchase a new-to-me camera lens!

    i submitted a ticket on oct 3rd for this untracked purchase, until now the claim status still shows on hold, how long more do i have to wait on this?

    Seems as if TCB is planting different names here saying they have been paid.
    I don’t think they have paid ANYONE!

      Probably not as I received an offer today for the purchase price of the phone.
      They are working on the claims and from what I have experienced
      even though you send an email…they respond via the website!
      Good Luck all–my faith has been restored..partially.
