How does the quality of these compare with shutterfly?

    • Nichole B

I’ve never ordered one from Walgreens, I was wondering the same thing.

      • Jen

I’ve done the one where they print and put together in store and didn’t love it. The pictures didn’t look as high quality and the binding wasn’t lined up perfectly. Maybe I just had a bad experience but I’d much rather do Shutterfly.

      • Angela

Orderd 3 last year when this deal came out. Quality is terrible. The picture pixilation came out distorted. We recover a reprint from a different store thinking it was the machine. Nope.

    • Sue

I got one like this about 2 years ago. I’ve also gotten 4 from Shutterfly. Not as nice as the Shutterfly ones. Less choices with the cover, backgrounds, embellishments & photo layout. When I got my free one I was limited to a basic cover with an opening for 1 photo & to me it doesn’t look as nice as the Shutterfly ones. They also had a plastic-like page between the cover & the 1st page that cracked & broke off after a few months. It was worth it for free but I wouldn’t pay more than $5.

I ordered one today and just picked it up. Anything indoors looks dark. The outdoor pictures look pretty good. At $5 it’s worth it, but I wouldn’t pay anymore than that.

    • april

I personally think u can tell u didn’t pay much for them. I think shutterfly is way better. But it’s only 5 dollars

Since my teenage daughter takes a zillion pics of her and her friends, this will be an inexpensive and personal gift that she can afford to give them for Christmas. Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Heather!

Hi, I ordered one with our Disney photos when this deal came up this summer. Depending on how many photos you use it is very time consuming to organize/prepare. I spent almost 3 hours getting it all just the way I wanted. I absolutely love the finished product. I have not ordered a shutter fly photo book, so I can’t compare the quality. There’s a lot of designs and a lot of themed/printed paper. Do open and inspect your book at the store just to make sure it’s exactly what you ordered, mine was missing pages 10-18, and they reprinted the whole thing for me (at no cost). So I would worry if you ever send stuff to a Walgreens near a relative incase what is printed is different (missing) parts that you ordered.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks so much for your feedback Lisa. Great tip and so glad you liked yours!

  4. lrferris

I thought it was easy to put together. Good quality, not great. I would do it again for that price.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for sharing!

  5. taya

Ya did this a couple months ago for the grandparents…the quality isn’t great but it’s fine for the price I think..

  6. K

Binding fell apart the first day, pictures and backgrounds were fine. Probably worth $5, just have some glue ready so you can rebind it;)

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for your review πŸ™‚

  7. Marie

    Thanks for the feedback everyone.

    • Julie L

Hey Angela! I can trade you a $10 LL Bean or a $10 Jet coupon for your photo book! If interested in trading please email me julielondrigan@yahoo.com

The quality depends on what type of book your order. They have a new one which is the custom cover book. Also what type of machine it’s printed on. We print at my store but I prefer another store down the street since they print on photo paper not a heavy regular paper. Oh and last but not least the person making it. I always double check my books. Making sure they are glued properly and the pages are lined and in proper order. Its pretty easy to put it together backwards. Sometimes the last page of a book looks like it should be the front. Lol

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Oh cool! Good to know!

I used to work for walgreens and put numerous of these together. They can be nice if done right but I can see what the comments above are talking about. I’ve never done a shutterfly book so I can’t compare but if you don’t have decent quality pictures, the pictures don’t always come out the best. I’ve seen some good ones and bad ones, it really depends. As for the binding, all that happens is it’s heat sealed and if it’s not done more then once, it comes apart pretty eaisly. Hope that helps!

  11. Abby

I’m looking for a shutterfly promo code for a book if anyone has one they don’t plan to use. This is what I make my grandparents every Christmas!

  12. Nancy

My mom is getting forgetful and I wanted to make her a picture phonebook. I think I will try this for $5. Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Yay! You’re welcome Nancy!

  13. Jen

Worth a try for $5-$10! I’ll try to make sure the photos I pick out are pretty good quality and hopefully that will help them print out a little better as well!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Awesome!

  14. S

Happy Holidays to you too !

    • S

Sorry I sent it to the first person who replied..

      • d

        It’s ok. Thanks anyway!

  15. Ashley

I did 2 of these last year when they ran this promo. The pictures were clear and the book seemed to be put together well (they were grandparent gifts). I chose clear pictures that were taken from a camera (not a phone) so I don’t know if that helped….? For $5, I’m definitely going to put a couple together again.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh cool! Thanks for such a great review Ashley!

  16. Jody

I did this deal last year and didn’t have any problems with quality. I gave them as gifts to grandparents (which I do every year, but previous years had used Paper Courerie). I didn’t like them as well as the Paper Courerie, but the grandparents liked the Walgreens books more. Thanks for the heads-up on the deal!

  17. Krissa

I’m not a big photobook snob, so I think these are nice. Obviously not as nice as the $100 books out there, but for what they are used for in my case – everyday pictures that are looked at every once in a while – they are great. I wouldn’t get this as a wedding album or a showpiece portfolio. Do check them in store when you pick up. I ordered two of the same book and each had a different error. If I had only ordered 1, I might have thought it was my fault. They fixed it for me immediately. I had started my photobook project hoping a BOGO or 50% off deal would happen. I was super stoked to find they were 75% off!

  18. Anita

Anyone tried their 11×14 Lay Flat Book? Website says this is their premium matte finish. WOuld love to know quality feedback from anyone that might have ordered this. Thecoupon should bring down the rate to $15. I have some wedding pics that i would love to get them printed.

    • laureen

The only thing is it would have to be shipped to you. This size isn’t done in store. I would like to know too. I did a brag book for my MIL last year and it’s still holding up to the abuse of being stuffed in her purse and constantly taken out and shown to strangers (lol).

  19. Mrs.Y

Thanks Collin – this is an inexpensive way to make a Christmas keepsake for friends with Alzheimers and memory issues. Love this – $11 shipped!.

  20. Sherri

I was able to get the book this time turn out very good ordered 3 more for Christmas gifts.
