This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Mission Foods. All opinions are 100% mine.

Remember the post from last week called “How do You Pack a Hip Lunch?” Many of you that left one of the 300+ comments suggested using tortillas as an alternative to the standard PB& J sandwich. Like you, I love the fact that tortillas take the predictability out of an everyday sandwich for kids AND enable you to create sandwiches of any shape or size with cookie cutters. Plus, they are budget-friendly, contain 0 grams Trans fat per serving and are cholesterol free, and are perfect for every meal: breakfast, lunch or dinner! Check out some of the ways that Hip2Save readers suggested to use tortillas…

* Buy roast chicken from Costco and make sandwiches on a whole wheat flour tortilla.

* Tortillas with veggie cream cheese spread, turkey, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, and shredded carrots. Wrap them in saran wrap to keep it held together…they actually get better in the fridge with time, so make up a lot and keep them refrigerated for 2-3 days.

* Make a breakfast burrito: Scramble 2 egg whites & slice or two of turkey bacon with some shredded cheese that gets rolled in a wheat tortilla. Wrap it in alum. foil, then stick it in a warmed thermos.

* My daughter’s fave lunch is a tortilla with a small amount of 1000 island covered with grated cheese, spinach, and lunchmeat turkey.

* Make a pizzadillas…Use any kind of tortilla/wrap, turkey pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, small chopped veggies (i.e. green pepper and mushroom) and toast up like a normal quesadilla. Then send tomato sauce for dipping!

After reading all of the great lunch ideas, I had to share one of my all-time favorite recipes: Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Tortillas Chips which I discovered on AllRecipes.com. (I shared this same recipe on Hip2Save back in May when I highlighted some of my favorite salsa recipes; if you had a chance to try it out, let us know what you thought!) With all the fresh fruit available, this is the perfect time to make this delicious and healthy dish!

Ingredients
* 2 kiwis, peeled and diced
* 2 Golden Delicious apples – peeled, cored and diced
* 8 ounces raspberries
* 1 pound strawberries
* 2 tablespoons white sugar
* 1 tablespoon brown sugar
* 3 tablespoons fruit preserves, any flavor
* 10 (10 inch) Mission flour tortillas (Be sure to use the $0.75/1 coupon from the 8/1 SS)
* butter flavored cooking spray
* 2 cups cinnamon sugar

Directions
* In a large bowl, thoroughly mix kiwis, Golden Delicious apples, raspberries, strawberries, white sugar, brown sugar and fruit preserves. Cover and chill in the refrigerator at least 15 minutes.

* Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

* Coat one side of each flour tortilla with butter flavored cooking spray. Cut into wedges and arrange in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle wedges with desired amount of cinnamon sugar. Spray again with cooking spray.

* Bake in the preheated oven 8 to 10 minutes. Repeat with any remaining tortilla wedges. Allow to cool approximately 15 minutes. Serve with chilled fruit mixture.

I’ve used that fruit salsa recipe and it is AMAZING! I usually change it up depending on what’s on sale, and I always use less sugar. The tortilla chips are sooo good too, better than any I’ve bought in a store.

  2. Lisa

I just made some homemade chips last night, they are so much better….

    • Stacey

I am a Tupperware rep and this is one of the recipes we do at our paties!
It is super easy to make (Especially in the Tupperware Quick chef) and sooooooooooooooo yummy. It is a huge hit at all my parties.

      shameless plug………
Wanna order a Quick Chef? Email me at spressman@my.tupperware.com

      • Amy

A paid testimonial for tortillas and then a plug for tupperware. On a coupon site? Just sayin’

        • Stacey

I didn’t mean to offend anyone. Sorry.

          • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You didn’t. Someones just in a grouchy mood.

          • Kristen

Some people are offended by anything and everything, don’t take it to heart.

        • Barbie

Amy- if you dont like it….leave….just sayin

        • Heather W

So? What is your point? You really need to find something better to do.

        • Laurie

I like good ideas whether they are from paid testimonials, shameless plugs or just plain creative people. My husband was out of work for over a year so I feel happy for people that can make money doing something they love!!!!

        • Laura

Maybe you should find another web site to gripe about! The people come here to get ideas, not just free crap like you are after!

        • L

if you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything AT ALL!

        • jennifer

          take a pill!

      • Candy

Why would anyone be upset about this. If I am not interested in a post, I scroll right past to something that does interest me. Colin works really hard and she should get paid. Anyone who has a problem with that has some serious issues.

        • Divas4Deals

I completely agree with Candy! Collin I love you site and have a sponsored post once a day or 8 times a day for all I care. I feel from reading this blog I know you and know that you would never post a sponsored post if it wasn’t an item you didn’t believe in!
And to Amy…How do people seriously expect the people selling items to make a living from them without giving a plug here and there? Just hope that someone passing by will automatically know that’s what they do/sell?
And should Collin spend over 8 hours a day posting these deals for us and not get compensated? I’m thinkin’ someone’s not living in the real world!

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You hit the nail on the head!!!!!

      • Tami

        Awesome!!!!!

  3. Kristin

Here’s another easy lunch tortilla idea: spread peanut butter on a tortilla then roll a banana up in the tortilla. Voila, you have a fun “sandwich.”

    • Kristin W.

ooh, I’m going to have to try this one w/ my son. He loves peanut butter and banans. Yum!

    • Sarah

Love that idea! A peanut butter banana is so messy otherwise.

      • Kristen

That sounds perfect for my daughter, she’s always tearing her regular sandwiches apart because she doesn’t like the crust.

    • Christy B.

Yum! That sounds so good to me right now! I knew I should have bought those tortillas at Costco today! They were like $3 for 30 flour tortillas! I’ve spent that much on 10 at the grocery store.

      • Courtney

There are really easy tortilla recipes. They are super cheap, and are so easy to cook! And they taste 110 % better than store bought.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yummy..also bananas and cream cheese..roll it up and stick it in a frying pan for a few! MMM!

    • Alice

can I just say yum I don’t even have kids and I’m making this hehe. Hooray for me:)

    • chaney

This is too funny!…after telling my sister about one of the tortilla ideas above, she told me about this exact same recipe!…I think she called it a banana roll? It does sound YUMMY!

    • Anna

That sounds delicious! Maybe even throw a few chocolate chips in there :). Yum!

    • jennifer

      yum

      • Latasha

I do this for breakfast with whole wheat tortillas and Nutella! Sooooo gooooood!

        • reeses_dream

          Nutella! **swoon**

  4. Karin

Thanks for the recipe ideas with tortillas. I definitely try them for my son’s lunch!

  5. heather

I just made my 7 year old a turkey wrap for lunch today!! She loves them..I also make the fruit salsa I have been making it for several years,It is great,I switch up the fruit depending on whats on sale. The chips are great also!!!

  6. Sarah

I just made this fruit salsa a few days ago to take on a weekend trip with some family. It was a hit and everybody was asking me for the recipe!

  7. Dawn

I think one of the easiest lunch or snacks I’ve had are with tortillas. I’ve had them rolled up with a slice or two or turkey, sliced grapes and a sprinkle of cheese. They are yummy.

  8. Crystal

I love tortillas! And homemade chips are the best. I’m not a big fan of Mission Tortillas though. Maybe I’m just picky

  9. bali

Mmh, the turkey/cream cheese rollups sound great! I’m addicted to the Mission “Caseras” tortillas but I try to buy the whole wheat ones only, since they’re somewhat healthier…

  10. Jaclyn

Its so easy to make your own tortillas too! You can make cheese tortillas, spinach tortillas, cinnamon tortillas etc. Its a great way to spice up lunches. I buy mission tortillas (when I’m being a slacker) but I always feel better making my own (no preservatives, no hydroginated oils).

    • vlasta

yeah, no hydrogenated oils, big NO,NO in our family, and they are in all tortillas.

  11. rosebud1022

Bloggers get paid for EVERYTHING they post in one way or another..just sayin

    • Beth

Collin puts in tons of hard work and many hours in to writing this blog for us. I certainly hope she’s getting well compensated for it one way or another!

    • JULIAN MYERS

      HATER !

    • Heather W

Well rosebud I am a blogger and I don’t get paid for anything I post. Do you get paid for your job? Just sayin.

    • Christy

well, what do you do for work? My husband works for Intel so he speaks good of Intel. My bro in law works for Xerox and speaks well of them too. If a product that I liked offered to pay me to speak about them, heck yes I would. I would offer my honest opinion, but I would totally do it. This is her blog, she gets to do with it what she wants. And I personally love what she does 🙂

    • Tammy

might want to do your homework — I blog and I don’t get paid

    • Mitchell Wischmann

Actually, we don’t get paid for every post. I’m also a blogger and have made only a few bucks.

    • Anna

I wish I got paid for my blog… just saying…
And if you want to get paid for blogging…you could start your own and make it as awesome as this one… Just saying…

  12. rosebud1022

this blog get paid for EVERYTHING they post in one way or another..just sayin

    • Jamie

      what’s up with this?

    • Ciara

Not really, I’m also a blog owner and I host a couponing site, and I may occasionally be sent a few items for giving my opinions on a product, but not for everything else I do on the site. Collin gives a lot of her time each day and I greatly appreciate it. Although she may be getting rewarded especially with her blog becoming so popular, it’s not like they paid her mortgage for writing about tortillas, in my experience they don’t send reimbursement, they send maybe one or two free products, some companies don’t even send that. Yes it is rewarding but it’s not like a significant amount of reimbursement. Look at it this way, if I write a long review on a $5 product and it takes me roughly 45 minutes to get it written up and linked up and everything, that’s like making a little over $5 an hour which isn’t even minimum wage. Just sayin’…. 🙂

      • bali

        amen to that!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

doesn’t you also get paid for every link you click on and any referrals like $25 for referring a friend or for swagbucks you get whatever that person wins. I think you can score some amazing deals on that. As you said, probably not enough to buy a house but still significant

        • Erica @ eeendeavors

I WISH we could get $25 per referral!!

          • Jenni @ Sweet Pennies from Heaven

            ME TOO EE Endeavors!!

          • Mitchell Wischmann

            So do I, Erica!

    • Heather W

Well you know you don’t have to come to this blog. If you think that people shouldn’t get paid to work then maybe you should let your boss know you don’t need a paycheck anymore..just sayin

    • Kristen

      Annnnd your point is?

    • Lori F.

I am just sayin, quit with the sayin…Please

    • jennifer

and when did it become your buisness to worry about who gets paid for what…….just sayin
and that also didnt stop you from looking at the site, so what its ok for you to use collins site to save yourself some money but she cant save some money……..just sayin, if you dont like the site get off it and make room for all the other thousand people who do want to be here…..just sayin.

    • Sara

Then why waste your time?! Doesn’t seem like a good use of YOUR time! At least Colin is putting hers to good use.

    • Tracy

As a fellow coupon blogger I see nothing wrong with getting paid for your efforts. It goes towards domain and hosting fees and gets reported as income so taxes are paid. What professional blogger doesn’t get paid? Do you expet Collin to take time from her family to help you save money on her free access site and not get paid? It does you absolutely no harm if she gets paid or not. Don’t like it? Then close the digital door by click the red X in top right corner. Whine much? Oh and I’ve not seen any FREE (non money making) coupon blog that was of the same caliber as Collin’s. Nice try though…

    • Tammy

oops meant to respond to this one — do you homework — I blog and I do not get paid — I have a coupon and deals site for my local area — anyhow as much time and effort that Collin puts in I hope she gets something for all the hard work she does!!!

You might want to tell your boss you will work for FREE next month!! Would hate to see you get something for your time and trouble

    • jennifer

she worked hard to put up the blog and should get paid so chill, I love hip2save

    • Tami

This is ridiculous! I have no idea if a blogger gets paid for anything or not and I don’t care. I go to numerous blogs because I love what they write about. How the heck is that any different than going to a book store or news stand and buying a book or magazine I love to read. If this site got paid a ton of money I wouldn’t care. She started this blog, has been successful obviously because people love it.
It’s a great site! I will come to it regardless if she makes a ton of money or doesn’t get paid.

I love this site! Why would you possibly care if she gets paid or not? Create your own blog if it concerns you so much, seriously.

    • Nancy

You’re an ungrateful person. Just sayin’ …

  13. Jamie

We LOVE tortillas in our house too! This is by far the best homemade tortilla recipe!
    https://www.food.com/recipe/flour-tortillas-diaz-101601

We then use these tortillas for the chips and they are always a big hit. By the way, after you make the homemade tortillas, they freeze WONDERFULLY in a gallon ziploc bag–then you can just grab what you need!

    Love your site!

    • Natty

Thanks for the link, Jamie! I’m going to try to make those. I love homemade tortilla, but I’ve never tried making them myself.

    • Beth K

I love homemade tortillas! They are so much better for you than store bought ones, especially if you use white whole wheat flour!

      • MA

Thanks for the info, but how can whole wheat flour be white unless it’s bleached? I try to stay away from bleached products also. Thanks in advance.

        • Rochelle

Try the King Arthur White Whole Wheat! There are lots of different colored wheat flours (it depends on what type of wheat (red, etc) that the flour is made from!

        • sara

you can make “flour” from different things for example: buckwheat, rice, almond, bean, flaxseed, oats and others, you just need to turn it into powder with a grinder. How cool is that right !! 🙂

          hth

        • Beth

White whole wheat flour is made from a white albino wheat instead of a darker wheat, like buckwheat. It’s becoming increasingly popular, several stores even have generic brands, like Kroger, because it grounds up finer and bakes lighter and so can be substituted 1:1 for bleached white all purpose flour with almost identical results. It’s nutritional benefits are identical to the brown whole wheat flour. I use white whole wheat flour in almost everything I bake, though I sometimes still use the brown whole wheat flour because I like the stronger taste and texture. You can google “white whole wheat” flour to learn more! Hope that helps!

          • Mo

hey – thanks for the info… I always wondered about that in the back of my mind LOL!!

    • Anna

Homemade tortillas are so good! I usually substitute 1-2 cups whole wheat flour :), I think it gives it more flavor. Yumm!

    • Rachel

      Thanks! I’m going to make these. I’m intrigued . . .

  14. Sherryl Tracey

I, too, have made this exact fruit salad recipe! I make this for all of our picnics/get-togethers during the summer months. I LOVE allrecipes – I’m always on there looking for fresh ideas when I hit a dinner slump 🙂

I will admit, however, that I do cheat and purchase the cinnamon tortilla chips from target 🙂 I frickin love those things, and they taste so good, I don’t think I’d bother making my own

    • Lisa

will have to try the target chips…..

  15. Sarah

Hey, Mission, how about a printable coupon?!

    • Lisa

      i agree…..

    • LaToya

LOL – I was just going to say the same thing.
      PRINTABLE COUPON
      MORE COUPONS

  16. CJ

I’m not very good at rolling tortillas so now instead of breakfast burritos I make scrambled egg tacos – just fold a small flour tortilla in half, stuff scrambled eggs and any other fixins inside and eat like a soft taco.

  17. Beth K

I had a high value Mission coupon that I went to use recently, but when I started reviewing their ingredients on the package, I was shocked to see partially hydrogenated oil on the list (plus about a million other unidentifiable ingredients). Partially hydrogenated oil is one of the worst foods for you ever, basically like putting poison in your arteries. I cannot in good conscience buy Mission tortillas anymore. I will be making my own from home (using just three ingredients, I might add) for pennies or purchasing Target’s whole wheat Archer Farm tortillas which are made from whole, healthy ingredients with no partially hydrogenated oil or high fructose corn syrup. Coupons are fantastic, and I will use them until the day I die, but don’t be lured in to buying unhealthy, processed foods as a result of using them.

    • Carrie

How do you make tortillas? Is it hard?

      • Beth K

It’s very easy to make homemade tortillas! There’s a great link posted above from another reader.

Also, I wasn’t knocking on Collin at all with this post. I love her site and so appreciate her efforts to post deals! I completely think she’s entitled to do sponsored posts and make money from her blog. She deserves it for all her hard work!

I was actually trying to knock on Mission. I think they’re irresponsible for using unhealthy ingredients in their foods, and I hope they lose customers because of that. While it’s unlikely that they’ll read this or change as a result, it’s important for people to know what they’re eating and share their opinions on that. And that’s all I was doing, sharing my opinion.

We can’t avoid every bad thing in the environment but we certainly can control what we put in our mouths.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I agree! Hydrogenated oils lurk in most processed foods to increase their shelf life. Its soooo bad for the heart. Its better to spend a little extra on good stuff.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yeah, not a big fan of Mission and all the junk they use. I get mine from a local mexican martket and they are amazing and made fresh every day. They also sell some good ones at publix

    • vlasta

      awesome, awesome,awesome post! Amen!

    • Kent

Please do not use gasoline in your car as it is even worse than the tortillas. Also, don’t run your air conditioner, use any spray item, or use wood to build a home. Do not consume any item that is not approved by the CSPI. I, however, am going to heat up my leftovers from Famous Dave’s BBQ. Collin, your site is one of our favorites. Appreciate your efforts. If you disclose that a post is ‘sponsored’ (which you did) what more can a reader ask????

      • Stephen

        Bah ha ha!!! Great comment.

    • Brigit

      I agree…healthy over cheap!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The entitlement attitude posted in this comment is sad. This is Colin’s blog, she can do whatever she wants with it. It is up to each reader if they want to read it or not. If Colin wants to get paid for postings that’s her right. Everyone gets so up in arms about “their rights as a couponer” respect Colin’s right to do what she wants with her blog, Believe it or not, as long as it is legal and thankfully Colin is ethical, Colin can do what she wants. I would strongly encourage her to delete these kinds of comments as well as rosebuds.

Geez, there are a lot of people with entitlement issues these days. Who cares if Colin gets paid, who cares if a reader doesn’t like it. The point of this blog is to save money.

Thankfully, the majority of the readers on this blog are really, really nice.

  18. kristen

I don’t mean to sound critical, but isn’t the right column of hip2save enough advertising? I love this website, it just seems to me that the posts themselves should be about saving money, not a paid advertisement.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

90 % of the posts are about saving money!!! You must not come on here very much!!!

    • Cherry

      Agreed. Sponsored posts are lame.

      • Stephen

I’m sorry….do you have to pay to use this site? NO! I personally enjoy saving money. I can see you having the right to complain about advertisements if you had to PAY to use this site….but since you don’t….please be quiet!!

    • Annie

I love the blog and respect that Collin has to make a living, but I don’t really like the concept of paid endorsements either. It’s kind of like tv, people tune in for the shows, not for the commercials. But I don’t get why companies pay people for endorsements anyway, all it’s telling us is that the spokesperson liked the amount of money they got paid, not the actual tortillas or whatever product it is.

      • Laura

Wrong! You may not realize it or not, but you are bombarded with over 10,000 advertising messages a day since every single label on every package, every sign and every commercial are all part of branding. Oh, and that tv show you like….FILLED with product placements and shameless plugs. I worked for 7 years in broadcast tv advertising and get ready, product placement and social networking is the wave of the future.

You know those House parties everybody is clamoring to be a part of….just another form of marketing in order to get you to consistently buy the product. If you don’t like the work she has put into things stop complaining and move your happy butt off to a blog that has been stripped of any form of advertising which means NO PRINTING OF ANY COUPONS ALLOWED, since they have a brand and logo attached to them.

Military families do not bring home a lot of money during the month and if she wants to make a little money out of something she is passionate about then it is her right. Collin is not invasive at all with her plugs and should be getting paid for all of her research and work.

        • Shelly T.

          Very well said!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

In my opinion, most coupon sites are no less than marketing tools. They camouflage the spending with the word ‘saving’. Spend $10… and look you SAVED $50!!! HURRY!!!
      Geez…!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You can go ahead then and pay full price for whatever you want. But don’t come on this site and bash our dear Collin and the hard work that she puts into saving all of us THOUSANDS of dollars!

      • Kara Dawson

if you do not like to save why are you on this site?

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Just curious as to why you are on this site then?? That doesn’t make a lot of sense now does it. I’m so dissappointed the Collin got her feelings hurt!!! I love hip2save!

    • Kathy

I love this website also. Collin has saved all of us tons of money. If she gets paid for posting great ideas and receipes more power to her. I think it is great! If you don’t like it you can always go to another blog with less advertising. I have tried a few and found them to be much less user friendly with far fewer great money saving ideas. Keep up the good work Collin.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I agree, it’s very annoying to read through the enorsements. It’s a website about savings so unless mission tortillas are BOGO with a $2 coupon then why is it being posted?

      • Kristen

I don’t get what the fuss is all about, you’re not forced to read anything! If you don’t like the post, leave the page or simply scroll to the next post!

      • Mary

Because it is Collin’s website and she can post WHATEVER she wants if you don’t like it then leave.

      • Divas4Deals

For AM….Do you work 8 hours a day for free?

      • Heather

This site is %100 about savings! Homemade lunches save you money. Tortillas are inexpensive. Plus homemade lunches are typically healthier. There! money saving! exactly what you asked for!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Because, it’s fun. It’s fun to try new recipes. It’s fun to see what other people are doing. It introduces us to new things. Leave the poor thing alone. It is HER blog. She can do what she wants.

    • Melinda P

Maybe Collin should stop the awesome giveaways, they are a form of advertisement. Even coupons are a form of advertisement, maybe she should stop posting about those. Oh, and then there’s all the advertising she does for Target, Walmart, Rite Aid, Walgreens, CVS, etc., etc., etc. By posting the deals, that is advertisement. Oh, and the biggest offender of all: Posting about free samples!! MAJOR advertising there!!!! Gasp!!
Personally, I think the negative comments are ridiculous. Lots of bloggers do sponsored posts. It is expected (that is, it is the law) that the blogger will only give his/her actual opinion of the product. This is actually one of the lesser “advertising” ones that I’ve seen. If a company that makes something you like or even love approached you and asked you to give your honest opinion of their product in a public forum for either pay or free products, wouldn’t most of us jump at that chance? It takes an incredible amount of time and effort to run a blog. I HOPE Collin makes money from this blog, cuz that means she will be more motivated and happier to keep it running. This is the most reliable, most fun coupon blog I read.

      • JULIAN MYERS

        AMEN…

      • Sarah

Agreed! I hope she makes money too because with all the deals she posts it must be more than a full time job. She has sure saved me some cash.

        • Barbie

Some people just shut their mouth and THINK before they open it. How many sponosored posts has Collin wrote? She rarely EVER does these. I think some people have NOTHING better to do but whine & complain. grow up.

      • Melissa Oliver

You said it Melinda P.! Thanks collin for ALL your hard work. You make this fun. 🙂

        • Heather W

I agree. If you don’t like the site leave. There are plenty of us that do. Collin doesn’t only have to post about coupons it is HER blog. I would still read her blog if EVERY single post was sponsored. Honestly why do you care.

          • Danielle

Yeah, honestly why do you people care!! What Collin does is awesome and you should all be greatful for the money she saves you and your family, I know I am!!

      • Lolo

LMAO at Melinda P! Well put. You go girl!

      • Jenni @ Sweet Pennies from Heaven

Loving your way of thinking 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The post WAS about saving money….it was about different ideas that readers had about how to make fun, healthy lunches for your kids at home with tortillas instead of feeding them garbage from the school cafeteria or a bunch of processed “edible food substitutes.”

    • Julie

I don’t understand the problem of putting a sponsored post up here. It’s not hurting/negatively affecting anyone. If that one sentence that stated it was a Mission-sponsored post (which may I remind everyone was full of Colin’s opinions, and her READERS’ recipes), we wouldn’t have known whether it was a Mission-sponsored post or not. She also went on to highlight what awesome recipes you can do with tortillas. Since there is a newspaper coupon for Mission tortillas, I love having the ideas of what to do with them. Also, as a pre-K teacher who eats in the classroom, I love having lunches that do not involve a sandwich – those get old very quickly!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Another entitlement attitude from a reader! “I don’t like (fill in the blank) so it should not be on the blog because it (bothers me, is not nice, is not to the right, advertisement should be to the right, Colin shouldn’t get paid.)”

Who cares if the posting or advertisement is to the left or right. What right does a reader have to tell a blogger what to do with their blog, sure make suggestions but be tactful at least. This is a free service people and Colin has the right to turn it blue if she wants. Be kind in your remarks. If you don’t like the blog then go somewhere else or voice your opinions politely and then IF Colin feels it is appropriate she can take your feedback and utilize it. Who do you think you are to tell another person how to run their blog especially since it is a free service, A FREE SERVICE!

Colin, please disregard these comments unless they are written in an upbeat manner!

Thankfully, the majority of the readers on this blog are really, really nice.

    • kristen

Just for the record, I do appreciate this site and all the hard work Collin does. I just felt like a sponsored post was a little out of place in my opinion. I tried to express that in a polite manner and I’m sorry that people got so upset about it. Shouldn’t I be able to voice my opinion respectfully without being told to shut my mouth and leave the site?

      • Cally

I think you should scroll up and fully read everyones comments. You are missing the main picture. She’s a stay at home mom with a military husband. I am one as well with three kids and my husband living out of state I don’t have time to do half of the things she does. I honestly have no clue how she can stay on top of all of these deals for everyone. I hope she’s getting paid for her hard work. You should also re-read the post she made about the tortillas this is a product she uses and likes, she shared readers recipes. Besides the fact that it says sponsored you would think it was just another helpful honest post, which it is. You always have the option to not click on the info and keep scrolling if you don’t care for the post. After all this is a free to us site with no membership fees.

      • Anon

Yes, kristen, you have just as much right to express yourself as all these other people who are going ga-ga over anyone saying anything about Collin or her sight.

    • jennifer

its hip2save and fun to see other things to some of use enjoy it

  19. Diane

Love fruit salsa! Here’s a recipe that I use that uses less sugar.
    1 cup finely chopped strawberries
1 medium navel orange, finely chopped
    3 medium kiwi, finely chopped
1 8 oz can unsweetened crushed pineapple, drained
    1 T lemon juice
    1 1/2 t sugar

Mix together, refrigerate and enjoy with cinnamon chips.

Cinnamon chips: 10 flour tortillas (8″), 1/4 c butter, melted, 1/3 c sugar and 1 t ground cinnamon. Brush tortillas with butter, cut into 8 wedges, Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mix and bake at 350 for 5-10 minutes. Yummy!

    • Jennifer

Thanks! I am definitely going to try this!

    • Tomoko

Thats sounds yummy and healthy!! I will try it. Thanks.

  20. jen

What great topic 🙂 I love how versatile tortillas are. I make my own tortillas, now I need to find a deal on a good tortilla press. Anyone?

  21. Colleen

For those of you who are watching your calories/carbs, try corn tortillas instead! you can have two small corn tortillas for less than the calories in the medium sized flour ones! and they make better chips too! 🙂

  22. rosebud1022

I too am disappointed at the content here the past few months. Seems that since this blog has gotten so big that the content has suffered. And its not just me, some of my friends feel the same way. Maybe this blog is to high class for me. or at least that is what it has become. I am not against making a little money for offering good savings info but it seems everything on here the past few months is paid links. I feel the content reflects that and there is the same coupon links given out every week..new if you haven’t printed them but you are out of luck if you did they are not new. Sorry I just see many more blogs that have better content and not being paid by an advertiser for every link. Hope this changes here and isn’t so money motivated. Oh and I don’t doubt this blog can pay a mortgage weekly! But that is none of my business.
This post couldve been posted w/o the endorsement is all

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’m sure this will spike controversy but I agree with you. I fell in love with this blog back when it had the “old” website that crashed. I used to recommend it to others all the time. I don’t recommend it anymore, too many bogus sponsored posting to go through to find the good deals. I miss the old blog that was all about great deals and not endorsements. 🙁

      • Dawn

You guys that feel this way about her site, you can visit other sites. I enjoyed the old site as well, but I think change is good and if this is helping Collin out, then so be it. I mean this is her site and she can do whatever she wants to do. This is not the only site I visit, I visit several throughout the day, and sometimes this site won’t have the same deals as others, but then again, I do find great deals on this site alone.

      • Barbie

LOL too many BOGUS sponsored posts? Um she’s had 3 in 2yrs? Are you people serious?

      • Martha L

LMAO I think its so funny how big people act when they are talking thru a computer! Why do you guys do that? Were u guys picked on when ya’ll were kids and feel better about ur self now because u guys are bullys on a coupon site! LMAO!! Or maybe you guys are old and hate your lives and just want to be mean to every one no matter what? Or do you guys just want attention no matter how you get it?? If you guys can please let me know i am dying to find out!!!!!

    • SimplySara

Wow. You seem extremely selfish. You do realize that it is still free for you to read this blog right? It doesn’t cost you anything at all, but guess what, it does cost Collin a lot. She clearly spends a lot of time writing this blog and web hosting isn’t cheap (especially with the traffic this site gets). She doesn’t ask you to pay for the information she provides and you gladly take her free information and probably end up with a lot of free stuff but you complain because she was given “something” (and we don’t know what, it could be cash, it could be 12 coupons for free tortillas) for a post about tortillas. You are upset about the number of endorsed posts? The last one I could find was from July 23 so someone gives hours and hours of their life to provide information to you and you object to them getting something out of it once a month (oh and I guess there was the video about the cooking products that accompanied a giveaway)? Yes, I realize she has referral links and ads that she makes money on. She isn’t forcing you to sign up for anything.

So what if she can pay her mortgage from her earnings here. Why is that so bad? Why do you expect her to give her time to you for free?

      • Jennifer M

I agree with SimplySara. And I have to point out, how hard is it to skip a post? Jeez. Just SCROLL DOWN one page. It’s not like you’re forced to watch a 5 minute video before you can go on to the regular content.

        • Barbie

wow. is that ALL you people have to complain about in life? is collin’s blog? seriously. How about act your age & move on. If you dont like it…visit another blog. Its that SIMPLE. Collin has saved me SO MUCH money…the last thing I am going to do is complain about a post. I mean seriously?

        • Jaden

AGREED!! The negativity here is ridiculous… If you have seen so many “other sites” that have “better” information and aren’t doing sponsored posts, why don’t you just stop visiting here and go there instead? Why waste your time to put Collin down in the comments here and spread your bad attitude around? The loyal followers of Hip2Save understand and are GRATEFUL that Collin makes money off this blog… And there are plenty of us to keep her going 🙂 🙂 And I very much hope she CAN make enough to pay her mortgage… You get paid for your job, right?! I’m sure Collin spends more hours a week weeding through emails, writing posts, coming up with ideas for them, etc. than most people spend at their jobs!

      • Alicia

        I agree with SimplySara.

    • Heather W

Hey rosebud maybe you just shouldn’t come to the site then. You don’t make very much sense to me. I love the site. It annoys me that people come on here to post negativity. Collin takes a lot of her personal time to help us save money. I have been using this site for a year and it still seems fine to me. I’ve never paid for anything I don’t want. If you do maybe you don’t need to be using the internet. Just sayin

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How pathetic that you have to bash somebody that is working so hard. If you can do it so much better, then start your own blog! We will see if you can do a better job-which I highly doubt. I have followed Collin’s blog for 2 years now and find your comment about it changing ridiculous. If you want to make a comment, you better be able to back up what you say. Otherwise, keep your opinions to yourself and find another blog. You don’t deserve to be one of Collin’s followers. Collin- you rock and don’t let a bunch of losers with too much free time bring you down. We all appreciate all the hard work you do!

    • Lolo

      Rosebud,
If you are sooooo disappointed with this site, and you have found soooo many other wonderful sites that you so love, than PLEASE do us a favor and move on to them. We do not like your negative attitude here. Coliin is an honest and HARD WORKING person with this blog. In fact I challenge you to get all your info from these other sites that you so love and spend endless hours putting it together for free and then keeping it up (that incudes multiple updates throughout the day, every day) and then post it here and we will all come and comment on the job you are doing. When you can accomplish what Collin is doing and be equal or better to her, I will then follow you…. just sayin!

    • Jennifer

I think we should vote rosebud off the island!! hahaha 🙂 I love Collin and her site! Keep up the good work!!

      • Martha L

        yes! lets do it!!

        • chaney

I was just sitting here thinking….I wonder if Collin can “block” a commentator?! LOL

          • Mitchell Wischmann

Yes, she can! I run a blog myself and had to block a few because of spam but yes, you can do it!

      • Tanya Hall

You got my vote! Rose bud you are out of here!

      • alexandra

        lol…good one 🙂

    • jeanette

      someone’s jealous

      • Susan

That’s exactly what I was thinking!

    • 417fancher5

I think you need to get a LIFE! This woman works hard to help everyone else and is obviously a good person who truly cares for her family and other people, so if you feel she has changed don’t log on to her website and mabe you should do some changing of your own! I am sorry that your life is so miserable that you have to put other people down, but it is a simple fix, STAY OFF OF HERE!

      • Anon

Do you realize how silly you sound????

    • Kara Dawson

do you get paid at your job? do not like do not read it!

    • Ashley

You need to focus on yourself and think about what your saying, do you get a paycheck? Well Collin needs 1 every now and then too, I work for a computer company and web hosting is expensive! Hip2save has so much traffic and these products to mAintain the sure annually cost from minimum $10k to $30k. Do you wAnt to pay for that?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

First of all you can’t speak for anyone but yourself so don’t bring up what other people say. Second if you don’t like H2S then either be tactful in making suggestions for change or go somewhere else to do your blogging. No one is making you read H2S. I will ditto my remark above:

Another entitlement attitude from a reader! “I don’t like (fill in the blank) so it should not be on the blog because it (bothers me, is not nice, is not to the right, advertisement should be to the right, Colin shouldn’t get paid.)”

      • Anon

You are all just as immature as rosebud.

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

          Yea! I’m glad!

    • ehayes

Really? A blog is too high class for you? Well it seems to me that even low class is too high class for you. Shut up.

    • Courtney

“Maybe this blog is to high class for me.”

Yes Rosebud, it really is. Time for you to move along little Rosebud.

      • kristien33

And it is “too”, not “to.” Sorry~the teacher in me….

Collin~I love this site and I do recommend it to everyone. There are soooo many sites out there, but I CHOOSE to read yours. I love your style and I have gotten tons of great deals. I appreciate someone’s opinion on things I haven’t tried. If it is just cheap, but we don’t like it, it is still a waste of money. Even when Collin doesn’t give her opinion, I look at the comments to see reader’s opinions. Kudos to you and all your (obviously) hard work!

    • Tori

Who are you to rudely comment to Collin when you have probably saved a ton of money from her site. She does what she loves and if she makes money from it, than good for her! If you don’t like it, then quit coming to her site, and make your own blog, one that is completely unmovotivated by money!(yeah right, lets see how long you will waste your time on that one) I am sure you are one of those who does nothing but complain about others successes because you do nothing more than sit on your cabooses and read about them while you yourself are being unproductive in your own life. Get off of the computer and make something of your own life! If this is a little harsh, sorry, I am tired of people who are so quick to point out a splinter in someone elses eye, when they have a huge plank sticking out of there own eye. Collin, we love you in our household! This is the first time I have ever commented on anything anyone has said on this site, but I felt the need because rosebud is a withering flower!

    • Ashley

Well, I have to agree with one thing rosebud says, this blog IS too “high class” for her! And please note that “class” has absolutely nothing to do with how much money you have, and absolutely everything to do with the way you choose to treat others and conduct yourself!!

    • Tami

Rosebud, I see nothing wrong with having your opinion about a site. If you really don’t like or think it has changed that is right to feel how you feel. Then, I personally believe you should just go to the other sites that you like better. I just don’t understand why you felt the need to throw a negative opinion out there. I use to visit several other coupon sites and liked them a great deal, then I found this one. I personally like this one better so I stopped visiting the other ones or just didn’t go as frequently. However, I didn’t post anything negative to the blogger. I’m not saying that constructive criticism isn’t good. But, the post that was written by you didn’t come across constructive. Positive energy is so much better than wasting our time with negative thoughts. If you don’t like something……..go to the next……..that’s my take.

    • Peggy

Definitely *too* high class for you.

  23. Melissa

just made the turkey/veggie cream cheese wrap for lunch- yummy! A nice change to the standard whole wheat bread sandwich!

  24. DP

I respectfully disagree with all the negative comments. I think Collin does an awesome job, and visit other sites who won’t even respond to your questions. Collin has ALWAYS responded to my emails, so if she makes a few bucks or a package of tortillas, good for her! Don’t we all wish we could do the same? This is still an excellent site with or without sponsors, which is the natual progession for a successful blog, IMO.

    • Laura

I also disagree with the complaints about endorsements.

First of all, if you read through the testimonial again, it is mainly composed of ideas and recipes for us to use with tortillas in general. Collin did not state that Mission tortillas were the only tortillas that she used. She merely posted a link to their site for more recipes. I think her purpose is to encourage us to try different ways to serve tortillas, and making food at home can save money. She also posted a link to allrecipes.com, and I doubt they paid her to do that.

Second, I am personally glad Collin gets endorsements and perks from companies because I know I don’t pay her, even though I use her site every day. I highly doubt the $ and perks outweigh the amount of time she spends on this site, not to mention the $ she pays to maintain the site. If she gets a perk from the companies doing give-aways, I don’t think too many people mind because I always see hundreds of readers participating.

Third, I visit this site because Collin is a fun person and I like her videos. If you don’t like it, go to another site; there are plenty more of us who frequent her website often!

Fourth, even if it was an advertisement, nobody is forcing you to buy anything. It is just part of couponing.

      • Melinda P

        Completely agree with Laura!!!

      • KRISTIN GALANTE

Get this rosebud1022 out of here! Collin is a hard worker who devotes tons of time to this site in order to save us all $. If rosebud1022 doesnt like the site then he/she can go else where! Thank you Collin for all the hard work you do for us everyday to help us save! Please don’t let this get you down…We LOVE you!

      • Jennie

I totally agree! I look at Collins blog multiple times a day, I have saved alot of money by following this blog. I am getting a FREE service by visiting this blog!!! Collin is doing all the work and people are complaining about what she chooses to put on HER BLOG!? I truly feel these are the type of people that just want everything for free, EVERYTHING! Do people really expect someone to do all this work for nothing?????? I have never commented on this site before but I just cannot believe how selfish and ignorant people are. Collin, I think you shoul do whatever YOU want, you should be getting paid!!! You never have to justify or give reasons why you have done what you want on YOUR Blog!!

  25. rosebud1022

The comment about the mortgage was in response to someones comment made earlier.

My problem is as a devoted follower of the hip2save blog I am just disappointed that there has been such a shift in content. I feel its not saving me the money it used to but instead I am very encouraged to sign up for this and that and most of the deals are dead or not even verified. Many deal matchups with invalid coupons not checked out first. Its obvious that the writer cares more about making money now a days than saving us money. Just disappointing as I recommend this to many people but hey 100 less users no big deal…more where that came from Eh? I will be on all the other FREE blogs with better content. All I have to say.

    • DP

I don’t know about you, but the deals I have “signed up for” have resulted in $20 Nike and Sketcher sneakers and $3 clothing. I will take that all day long..But hey, as they say, no good deed goes unpunished, I guess. You are entitled to your opinion, but it amazes me that people would complain, when all the good information we receive is FREE.

    • Sophie

Well, we all have free will to go to whatever sites we please. I doubt your mouse clicked all the way to Hip2Save all by itself!! 🙂 If you are not interested or disappointed in a sites content, then may I suggest that you dont visit it, but dont try to bash the blogger becuase you dont agree with what they post. Maybe you could start your own blog and then see why bloggers try to have ads and endorsements. I can guaruntee that Collin works at least 30-40 hours a week on this blog. Would you work a FT job and not get paid? I am a devoted follower as well, but when things change, they change. You cant do anyhting about it, so it not really useful to sit around complaining in multiple comments.

    • Jessica K

Why are you here if you don’t like it? Please get to those other blogs and leave Collin alone! She’s done nothing but try to help you!

    • Barbie

well rosebud….sounds like its time for you to find another blog 🙂 I on the other hand have gotten SO many great deals! Thanks Collin!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Come on you can flounce better than that!

    • Heather W

Hahahaha how is this site not free? Do you honestly think that any other sites out there aren’t making money? If you like the other sites better kick rocks. No one is forcing you to stay here.

    • Josie

RoseBud- Please..Start your own blog ans let’s see how you do. Shame on you for being so critical about something you apparently know nothing about! If you aren’t happy with collins blog, make your own and do with it what you want. Leave her alone.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You might “heart” coupons but you obviously don’t “heart” people. Your attitude stinks!

      • ashsme

        rosebud,
then go away nobody here cares about your stupid comments…go bug someone else…jeez some people just love drama don’t they?

    • chaney

The sad thing is…you’re still RELYING on Collin to do all the money saving footwork for you. The longer I read this blog, the more equipped I am to save on my own…meaning, Collin has “taught” me how to save money with coupons. At first, I was so dependant on the blog and now I can actually go to the grocery store with my binder and not have to have the weekly Target deals printed out! I feel like I have grown into a mature couponer thanks to Collin and this blog. Give it a go.

    • Jennie

Seriously, go figure the deals out yourself! You just want someone to do it the way you want and not let them get paid? That is amazingly selfish and close minded! Who in the world with 3 young children and a husband would just spend hours of time for the benefit of other people and get NOTHING out of it????? This is not some volunteer blog program to take advantage of Collin or anyone else with a blog.

    • Allyson M

Shes doing this for you for FREE to save YOU money. Keep in mind, she has a family of her own that she is probably not spending time with AS WE SPEAK to post for us. Stop being a hater and and be grateful for what shes doing for all of us!!!! Love the site girl! Keep it up!!! 🙂

    • Nicole

good, Rosebud, I think you NEED to go somewhere else! We don’t need you coming here and stirring up trouble! Didn’t your mamma ever teach you? “If you have nothing nice to say then don’t say anything at all!”

      • Anon

You need to follow what your mommy told you.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You are making a lot of “glittering generalities” about the deals that Colin’s offers on this website and as far as I can tell have offered no proof.
“I feel its not saving me the money it used to but instead I am very encouraged to sign up for this and that and most of the deals are dead or not even verified. Many deal matchups with invalid coupons not checked out first. Its obvious that the writer cares more about making money now a days than saving us money.”

Colin posts all of her deals on line. You can go back and do a thorough review of each deal. So I dare you, go back and look at the deals and then post specifics about which deals are not verified, or has invalid coupons.” Come back with the evidence regarding the claims you are making. I bet you readers can provide evidence 100 to your 1 about successful deals.

This is a free service. Who do you think you are? You have an entitlement issue. “Oh, Colin owes me better service and better deals. I tried to order from Target and the deals were sold out so it is all Colin’s fault that I did not get my deal. I didn’t get my coupon in the SS so it is Colin’s fault that I did not get it. She is responsible for all the deals I didn’t get so therefore all of her deal are “deals are dead or not even verified,” That is exactly how you sound. Come back with some evidence regarding your statements and the responsibility you took in identifying the deal and then we will soon if the deals are invalid.

Geez who do you think you are questioning someone’s integrity and right to manage their blog. I would highly recommend that Colin delete your comments. This is a coupon blog not a “we’ll I didn’t the bargain I want and am entitled to so it’s all Colin’s fault.”

      Whining is getting so old!

      • Anon

A number of people have complained in the past that coupons don’t always match up, not just rosebud. There will be a coupon mentioned that does not match up with the product. Stop being so defensive. Collin isn’t perfect.l

        • Julie

Different areas of the country can get different coupons in their paper. There have been times that I’ve seen a deal here on H2S and got excited and pulled out my coupons and couldn’t find the coupon mentioned.

Did I get mad at Colin for that? No…I just figured the coupon she was referring to didn’t make it into my paper. Oh well…and move on to the next deal.

It’s not like my life is permanently affected by whether or not I get one deal!!

    • ehayes

Hey stupid, this is a free blog. You don’t have to pay to be a member or view it. And I highly doubt that you could influence 100 ppl to stop coming to this site. Go to the other sites and have fun. We don’t like ignorant ppl here.

      • Anon

And, we don’t like people calling people names. You’re just as wrong.

        • Gen

Anon, why don’t you log in and SHOW your name!

    • Megan

You said you are “devoted follower”– if you were devoted, which means LOYAL, then you WOULD NOT be tearing down Collin’s Blog. Karma sucks! hahah

As a blogger myself – one with this very same content… Here is my 2 “cents”:
PLEASE try to find ONE blog that gets NO compensation for their time or bloggins. Usually it’s hidden or in disguise – at lease Collin is 100% up front about it – IF and WHEN she actually does it.
If you can find this quote / un-quote FREE site – then I’m sure it doesn’t have all of the deals – esp. FIRST….because EVERYONE deserves to be paid for their time… and it is HARD work to get posts done – let alone as well written as Collin’s – FIRST.

It is UTTERLY selfish to think one should pour their TIME, heart and soul in something ALL day (and night in Collin’s case) – and sometimes at the sacrifice of her family I’m sure and many other things – to bring us EACH and every deal – usually FIRST.

This is one of TWO sites I don’t miss daily… even though I have my own…. and the GREAT news for YOU – is that this is America – and you don’t have to come HERE.
      So then don’t 🙂
But please – in the process of your issues – DON’T YOU DARE – make this hardworking – full time mom feel bad about anything she is doing.
      thanks.

    • Nancy

Good. You’ve said way too much already. Bye and good riddance!

  26. jamie e.

I have made fruit salsa before! I love it! So yummy and healthy! I love to eat junk food, so it is nice to have a healthy snack that taste so good! I got the recipe from Taste of Home cookbook. I also made my own homemade tortillas! Kind of time consuming, but they were pretty darn good! 🙂

    • Nancy

      CAPITAL LETTERS

      I THINK ROSEBUD OWNS IHEARTCOUPONS.

Your’re really outdone yourself this time. And I will never visit your site. What an ass. Putting Collin down with your icon next to your name. WHAT ____S..

  27. susan

I think it’s terrible what you all are doing. If you don’t like a paid endorsement scroll past it. You all sure like scooping up all the bargians she tells you about though don’t you.

    • shannon

exactly. if you dont like the “sponsored” post, then dont read it. what a bunch of hypercritical crybabying. some of us like reading the ideas and recipes, which IS a money saving post, when you are packing your child’s lunch for school every day(which is MUCH cheaper than buying school lunch) you need alternative ideas. and using tortilla’s whether they are mission brand or not, is a GREAT tip, because when they go on sale and paired with a coupon they are way cheaper than bread. if you dont like something, dont read it, and if you dont have something nice to say, then dont say it.

      • Allyson M

Agreed!!! 🙂

        follow your own words.

  28. Kathryn

Just wanted to say Thank you Collin, You have helped my family survive a very difficult financial situation! You are such a blessing and your hard work is appreciated by my entire family~ I recommend you daily!!

  29. Misty

Love your work Collin. I happen to like tortillas and am extremely happy with your website. I think I am a Hip2Save addict.

  30. Oralia Robles

Colin, I just want you to know how much of a blessing you have been for me. This is a talent you have and you are using it to be a blessing for others and their families. I am sure you may have not of thought when you originally started this in 2008, that it would grow so much. I thank God for the things that I have learned from your site, and I pray that he continues to bless you and your family in many ways. There is always going to be someone that has something negative to say, keep your head up, and keep enjoying what you are doing.

    • Mo

      Amen!

    • kathryn

      🙂

It seems that Miss Rosebud is a little TOO concerned,….so many negative posts….. I mean if you don’t like it, stop visiting. Pretty simple. But she seems to want to get others to stop too….which made me think…is she promoting her own blog with her little icon? What is Iheartcoupons……..??? Another site? I won’t be visiting.

  32. Heather W

Collin you rock. Plain and simple. When I work I expect my paycheck and I’m pretty sure rosebud does too and anyone else that has a problem with you making money from your site. The funny thing is this is YOUR site. No one forces anyone to come here. I love your site and I save a TON of money. I appreciate you showing us the deals. Most people with any common sense don’t buy it if they don’t need it. If there is someone that just buys anything because you post it well someone should take their credit card away lol. Keep doing what you do Collin. I love your site.

  33. Kar

I totally disagree on all those negative comments. Collin has really saved me a huge chunk of money for just visiting her blog. I am new in this country and don’t know much here but it is with the help of this blog that I saved so much in my initial spending. I don’t work but still Iam able to give surprise gifts to my daughter without looting my hubby . I have stacked many things to donate too which is a really nice thing. All We have to say is ” thanks Collin “.

  34. Jamie

I love Hip2save. It is my favorite savings site and I check it first thing every morning and thru the day. I have gotten the heads up on so many deals. I have a lot of respect and gratitude for Collin and her hard work. I hope she keeps this site because I am definitely a Hip2save addict too. Thanks Collin for doing this and working hard to help us all survive a little in this economy and save money. I am stay at home mom expecting #3 and an avid couponer too so I enjoy reading your deals and coupon scenarios. Keep up the good work, you are appreciated.

  35. Karis

Thank you for all the work you do to help us save money. I am addicted to hip2save and my kids will tell you that. We have a “free” Christmas gift exchange and you are helping to make our Christmas great.
    Thanks Karis

  36. Marcee

Collin… I want to thank you for ALL you do. You have helped me save so much money.. AND time! I am a stay at home mom of 5 and money is tight, as with most of us. I just started couponing a few months ago and have a stockpile like you wouldn’t believe! Ok, so maybe you would! 🙂 I check your site multiple times a day I think! 🙂 I actually even teach a coupon class/group with you as our lead blog! Feel good about what you do. YOu are making a huge difference in SO many lives! Over the past few months, I have looked at various money saving blogs, and this one is BY FAR the most fun and easiest to read and follow… a big THANK YOU!

  37. Kalin

Collin, I blog too, and I read a lot of blogs that have sponsored posts and products… When I saw this all I thought was “huh, a sponsored post that actually fits with a blog”-you’d just been asking about lunches, and a lot of the suggestions had involved tortillas, and it was a good follow up to that. Anyone who reads very many blogs will see sponsored posts and products pop up where they seem reallllly unnatural. (And seriously, when I started blogging I was more than willing to feature random product on my blog if it was free even if it wasn’t something I’d buy-I’m not immune to it) If people are going to complain about one sponsored post they need to read a few more blogs and see how much LESS sponsored stuff happens here.

  38. Heidi

I just want to say I love you site as well. Keep up the good work! You deserve to be compensated for your hard work every now and then! You have saved my family tons of money and I don’t know how we would make ends meet without you-SERIOUSLY! THANK YOU!!!

  39. amv310

Thanks for all you do Collin, I just started couponing and because of you and your site I have been able to save money for my family, Thank you!

  40. Susan

I can not believe some of you, you should be ashamed of yourselves!! this is a FREE, I repeat FREE website. Be thankful for all that Collin had done and will continue to do, to save us money!! If you don’t LIKE this site anymore, regardless of the reason, don’t COME BACK AGAIN!! Just STOP complaining about it!! It ‘s just plain RUDE and HURTFUL!!

  41. dana

Hey – anybody out there know where Rosebud lives?
I think we could put together a rockin’ party to go T.P. her house! LOL! 🙂

Rosebud – get a life – click it to somewhere else – AND STAY THERE!
We won’t be missing you and your ‘anon’ friends! 😛

    • Christy B.

I felt like I was on Facebook for a minute as I searched for the “like” button.

      • Jenna

  42. Tracy

Thanks for the great recipe ideas. My kids will love them!

  43. MoJo Savings

For the naysayers. Do you have any idea how many hours Collin probably works? If it is like Lisa and I, we spend about 60 + hours a week working on our blog and we’re not talking 9 to 5 type hours. Look at her posts, some of them are at 11:00 or 11:30 at night. I highly doubt any of the naysayers leaving comments would work for Free. Many if not most of the deals bloggers post in fact aren’t affiliate related. Further, there are quite a few cost in keeping a website up and maintained. So, to ask her to blog and not run ads (make any money), incur expenses, take a significant amount of time from her family, work herself to the bone all the while helping to save you a significant amount of money is simply unfair and unrealistic and good luck finding any blogger that would do the above for no money at all. Mike and Lisa ~ MoJo Savings

    • Jenn

I agree with you Mike and Lisa!! I also LOVE your site!! Some people do not put any thought into what they say in the comment section. I have had some negative ones myself on my blog, It is so hard not to let it get to you. But then again, the positive comments make up for it in the end!

      Thanks again Collin!!

    • bfam

Ok, if that doesn’t say it all, what does? Mojo Savings is another great money saving website. If anyone understands what Collin “gives” to make hip2save happen, they sure do!! How kind of them to stand up in Colin’s defense. I love it!

      • Mitchell Wischmann

I also know how much it can cost to run a website…it can really add up!

  44. Amy

Collins blog is the 1st coupon blog I had ever been on. She has helped me save a ton of money while keeping me laughing and smiling at her awsome videos about saving money. Thanks are not enough Collin I appreciate you!

  45. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Collin love your sight! exactly the way it is. You keep up the wonderful work.

  46. Jenn

Collin, I want to thank you for everything you do!! The negativity here is unacceptable!! I also have my own blog and I love what I do. I still love to find deals etc and anything I can FREE! Writing that sponsored post was a great idea! It helped so many with recipe ideas!! I have been coming to your site for over a year now and will not stop. When I see a great deal on your site I will sometimes repost it on my site and give you the thanks every time!! Thanks so much for all you do and do not let the negative comments get to you.

  47. Kristen

I just did a search for the screen name rosebud1022 and found her other comments on hip2save posts, and every one I found is something negative! What a shocker.

    • Kristen

Haha I also found her profile (unless there is another rosebud1022) on marijuana.com. So we can blame her anger on a fried brain?!

      • SaraJC

Funny what Google can do.. just sayin … LOL

  48. Kirsten S.

This is the best site I have found for couponing. I’m new at this, and this site makes everything so much easier. She posts about things I actually use so I’m not wasting money snagging a “deal” that wasn’t really. I recommend this site whenever I am talking to people about couponing. In fact, I just blogged (sorry, not trying to plug my blog. It’s private and completely non-money-making) about it, trying to make sure all my friends and family use this site. I’d be back paying full price for everything, clueless about what I could be saving, if a friend hadn’t recommended Hip2Save a couple of months ago.

Best wishes, and my heartfelt thanks, Collin, for a job well done.

  49. mary ellen

Collin–your site is my favorite and I visit at least once a day! You have helped me to save so much and have really made a difference in my life. You have the best match-ups–love how your highlight your favorite deals in red. Sometimes I worry about you because you work so hard! I have not noticed any changes in your site but I’m glad you spent more time with your precious children this past summer. Something about the anonymity of the web can really bring out negative people. Keep up the awesome work!
