Wendy’s: FREE Jr. Frosty for the Rest of 2012?!

So I just heard word from reader, Kate, about an amazing Wendy’s promotion that is going on again at select locations. Now before reading any further, I want you to be aware that this promo is not available nationwide, so I suggest calling your local Wendy’s ahead of time and asking.
Alright, so what’s the deal?
Well, supposedly when you donate $1 to charity (each Wendy’s location picks their own charity), you’ll get a key tag that will score you a FREE Jr. Frosty with ANY purchase, every time you go to Wendy’s, for the rest of the year. Yes, the rest of 2012! 😀

We did this because our local Wendy’s is donating the money (it cost us $2.00) to the Siteman Cancer Center in STL, Missouri, where my brother had cancer treatments!! It’s a tiny little ‘free’ frosty, but yes, it does work!! :0)
Melissa, can you tell me which Wendy’s you went to?
I just contacted the location in Osage Beach,MO and they said they do not do it anymore.
Our local Wendys does this, they did last year too! Perfect size for my little bug!

I purchased one of these keytags at the Tysons Corner, VA location about 2 months ago. We’ve been getting our Jr Frosties since then. I will say that this junior size is very mini. It is the perfect size for my 3 year old to have a little treat after his lunch

Yep just called and all Southern Oregon Wendy’s are participating (8oz. frosty) with $1 donation to Dave’s Foundation.
Booo They should have picked Sparrow Clubs and kept it local.

I called 3 locations in San Antonio with no luck. I was told Austin is participating but haven’t called.

Just called a Wendy’s and they said they’ll probably get them but ’til July!!!!
Called the 2 on slaughter and they didn’t know what I was referring to. Said they will be selling coupon books closer to July.
Tried San Marcos and New Braunfels with no luck either.

called the Cedar Park location and they said that is a Dallas area promotion only. Cedar Park is part of the same franchise as Austin apparently and so they would all have the same response. 🙁

Not doing it here in Statesboro, GA, which really surprises me with it being a college town and Wendy’s is really close to campus. I would think they would get tons of college kids who would be glad to donate for a free frosty for a year!
That might be why they’re NOT doing it…a campus full of college kids w/those tags could eat enough free Frostys to put a Wendy’s out of business!! 🙂

I got one last month in Denver CO. Also Arby’s has a similar buy a bracelet for a free small drink all year. Same thing goes to charity. The bracelet was 2.00.

I got it at the one on 92nd and Sheridan. (Guess its Westminster). Used it today at lunch since this post reminded me on 88th And wadsworth. It says its valid in Utah, Colorado, and select Wyoming locations.
Anyone had luck in Morgantown, WV? It’s for charity, I would think all Wendy’s would participate.
It might depend on the franchise. Mine says Tri-State Philadelphia area which includes Delaware.
I live in Myrtle Beach ,SC and was looking to get that keychain frosty for 2 weeks now. Went as far as driving to Columbia, SC and stopping at every Wendy’s on my way with no luck. What’s up with that? What does girl has to do to donate for some frosty???

Interesting that I live in Columbus (home of the Wendy’s headquarter) and my local store is not doing it. Hopefully, they will do it too soon. They have in the past. Great promotion!

I just called our Wendy’s in Westerville and they said as of now they aren’t doing it but may later this summer.
I live in Worth too! But have tried the Bethel and Henderson locations- no go. I would assume that means it is city wide. Boo. Do you all find it ironic that the home of the Frosty isn’t participating! ;(

In the past I have bought coupon books in one town and used them in another no problem – when that town was not selling them. HTH!
Yes, the local Wendy’s will honor the key chain purchased else where. I checked last year before I started my all out search.
Mine says good only in the Tri-State Philadelphia area, so I think it will be YMMV.
I got this in January and I thought it was for one free frosty so I tried giving my cashier the key chain thing and he said it was good all year long. I was so excited! It was so worth my dollar donation!

They did this in Evansville, IN for the past few years- I got one each year and never used it! Oh well, the $1.00 went to a good cause!
My son found one last month on the ground in a parking lot here in Utah, and we have been scoring free frostys ever since! 🙂
Fredericksburg, VA is doing.. so far I haven’t got one. We don’t eat there or out at fast food often. Good charity donation:)
I think I’m the only person who doesn’t like them, but my husband does so I’ll have to see if they are doing it at my location.
I just bought 5 in Elk Grove, CA thinking they are valid all year. Unfortunately, they say on the tag that it’s good until 5/31/2012.

Richmond, VA is participating again this year — donations go to the SPCA!
So strange…. I just called corporate and was told that this is a discontinued promotion, and that some locations still had some and were still giving them out! I really didn’t get anywhere. I asked if I managed to get one would any location honor it, but obviously that would be up to that perticular location.
I asked on their Facebook wall today and told it was a franchise by franchise decision
and that there was no “master list”. That could make sense with what you are saying too.
I think that this is a fantastic thing – we donate a good chunk of change to charity (even though we don’t make incredible amounts of money). I don’t eat much fast food – but I did participate in this promotion last year….and probably got two free frosties (lol). I was a little surprised (and it made me giggle) over the SIZE of this freebie….it’s like a larger shot glass size. 🙂
The Wendy’s in Baltimore, MD are participating. The charity is the JH Children’s hospital I believe. Ours are good for the rest of 2012. I have already gone probably 5 times since getting it in January. Its a perfect treat after lunch on a nice day.
My local Wendy’s said that it expires May 31.
Centralia & Longview, WA had the Key Tags about two months ago. They do expire 5/31 though…

Tri-State Philadelphia one expires 12/31/2012. I think it all depends on the franchise or region.

The Wendy’s in Springfield, TN did this last year. I am going to see if they are doing it for this year. Well worth the donation even if it doesn’t if the promotion is for a short time.
I just called my local Wendy’s in Chandler AZ and they said they would be selling them the first week of March.
I work for Wendy’s in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We are participating citywide. Supplies are limited at some locations. Our charity is Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. They are helping find homes for foster children across the nation!
My Aunt gets one in Burlington, Wisconsin every year at her Wendy’s!

I currently live in Fort Belvoir, VA (just seconds outside of Alexandria, VA) and my local Wendy’s is doing the promotion if your donate $1.00 to a charity, which I did.
Anyone in Idaho finding these???
We did this last year, and this year, when it first came out in January, I bought 6 of them and gave them out as gifts to my mother, daughter, mother’s friend, SIL’s mom, grandson’s daycare provider, and myself. Even at $6 for all of them, we can get free Frosty Jrs for the kids, and it’s just right for an adult trying to watch the weight but wanting a little splurge. You do have to buy something to get the free Frosty Jr, but I never had a problem with it last year, and so far haven’t had a problem this year. You can get vanilla or chocolate.
My mother-in-law bought these for us in her Wendy’s in the Pittsburgh area. Our local stores were not doing it, but they said they had a policy in place to honor any Wendy’s promotions so we were still able to use them.

I bought two in IL (Homewood and Country Club Hills) and my sister gets them each year in MI (Flushing).
