World Book Night: Acceptance Letters Going Out Via Email Today (Check Your Inbox)
Did you apply up to become a 2014 World Book Night Giver back in October of last year? If so, be sure to keep an eye on your Inbox as the acceptance emails are going out today! Check out what World Book Night – USA posted on their Facebook page…

Today’s the day . . yay!l . . but please do stay calm. Emails are going out in batches of a few thousand every 90 minutes, from 8 AM EST to 7 PM, alpha by last names. This is so we don’t overload the map website that you’ll be logging onto when you get your email. We aren’t doing this to raise your anxiety! We do this so it will hopefully all work more smoothly over the course of the day and week.
Speaking of which, when you do log in to the map website via the link in your email, PLEASE give the location map time to load. You do need to pick your bookstore or library shipping point soonest, but it’s not first come, first served. Your box will ship to the place you pick.
So do take time to let the map load so you can see all the choices near you. Don’t post concerns or questions here. If you have questions, we are all standing by at the april23@worldbooknight.org mail box to help you.

What a great program! I would like to read more but never know which books to pick up. Hope to be a recipient of these!

If you don’t know what to read I’d recommend stopping at your public library. Ours has shelves of the latest books they have received. Just scanning the jackets I always find books that interest me. Besides, if you check one out but end up not being able to “get into it” it doesn’t cost you a dime. Just return it to the library.

I can load the map after I enter my location but there is no list of pick up locations.

same here. I sent them an email. I can see locations but then can not select them as they are not listed under my zip code location. Apparently, the list of locations should be listed under the town you are located in to choose from. Hopefully they will get back to me soon! 🙂
It took me 5 tries over 2 hours to finally see locations and select mine on the map.
Third year in a row for me! First year getting my first choice book: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Just read the latest book in this series and I love them both!

I got my acceptance letter this morning. I’m giving away Catch-22. I love to read and I try to instill a love of reading in all of the young people in my life.
This is my second year doing it in Michigan.
They just said they don’t want anyone to pick locations until tomorrow. They are working on issues!
I got Young Men and Fire! I love this book as it is based on an event from the area I grew up in. I am having trouble finding a pickup pint on the map, the page just doesn’t seem to progress and give me the option to select anything.
Today is the first day you can pick your location, but it isn’t the ONLY day. EVERYBODY is trying to load the map today, so there are definitely going to be problems. This isn’t like HouseParty where you have to be the first to pick your spot, as long as you remember before next Thursday you will get in. This is the 3rd year I’ve been picked and it is always easier to load the pickup website a couple days after names are selected.
This will hopefully be my 3rd year too, but I had real issues when applying. Went smooth the previous years. So now I’m all antsy waiting to see if it went through. Why did I get married? I would have been an “M” if I didn’t get married!!!!!
Yay! Just found out I was accepted. My last name begins w/ letter “P” and I got the email at 3:00 PST.
