Awesome- it seems like we’re constantly having to get a new car seat for someone or another. I buy the absolute cheapest, but maybe this will make an Evenflo cheaper than a Cosco
If you’re on a tight budget then any carseat (assuming it’s not expired and hasn’t been in an accident) is better than no carseat but in an ideal world people should purchase a carseat that fits their car well, fits their child well and that they will be able to install and use correctly every time. This is one situation where I think it’s well worth it not to focus just on buying the “absolute cheapest” if that’s an option.
Also, an initial purchase of a slightly more expensive seat that has higher weight limits and higher top slots for the harness straps may end up being a better bargain in the end than having to upgrade carseats 3-4 times for each child.
For example, I got a Cosco Scenera for my daughter for my mom’s car since traveled with my mom pretty infrequently. She outgrew it just before her fourth birthday and my mom had to buy another seat. The total cost of those two seats almost equaled the ones in our cars that I spent more on. The seats my husband and I have came with removable padding so our daughter fit well at under a year old and still fits her at almost 5yo so we can probably go straight from her 5-point harness seat to a $15 backless booster in both of our cars. In addition the belt clip and harness height adjustment are a lot easier on ours than on the Scenera so I feel more confident that we’re getting a nice tight install every time. Our seats had a slightly longer period before expiration (6 years for the Scenera vs. 7 years for ours). I’m not suggesting that everyone run out and buy a Britax (I didn’t go with that brand actually) but that this may be one area where cheapest isn’t necessarily best (I know this is a coupon blog and I save money where ever I can too…I’m just a little passionate about carseat safety 🙂 )
Mom of 8, ER doc, CPST. I think I have it covered. 🙂
Does anybody know about how much the one pictured on the right runs?
Looks like it’s $59.88 at Wal-Mart. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Evenflo-Big-Kid-Advanced-Booster-Car-Seat-Zeke/24675199
If it doesn’t expire soon, you can hold onto the coupon to see if Target does another $10/$50 baby coupon. It will stack with it!
What’s the expiration date?
The one on the left is $79.98 at Walmart, the one on the right is $39.98 at target. That’s what I saw when I googled them!
I have the one on the left for my special needs 5 yr old– we like it…..
Meijer also has an offer in mperks for $20 off the Graco Nautilus 3 in 1 Booster Car Seat. I’m not sure how much this runs, but if your looking for a car seat it’s another good coupon 🙂
