I do all my Black Friday shopping online. There’s no way my mother would condone foregoing Thanksgiving to wait in line. Also, being in a wheelchair is not crowd-friendly.

    Thanks for what you do!

    • Maia

Is there a Black Friday ad site for what will be on sale online? I have never shopped in stores during Black Friday and I refuse to lol

      • Laura

        Bfads.net
Best Black Friday website there is! IMO 🙂

      • Heather

I load the TGI Black Friday app onto my phone. It will let you see all of the ads and mark them so you know what you are looking for when you get to each store. It is a life saver!

      • Monika

Same with me. Black Friday shoppers please consider shopping only online. Employees and their families should be able to spend this special day together.

  2. Rita

Thanks Collin! Keep up the good work. And do share the online deals.
    Thanks

  3. rosepearljune

I plan on doing mine online as well, but I’m still looking forward to it! 🙂

  4. rightasrainy

I really need a mini keurig for my husband for his newest toy, an RV 🙂 Are there any deals for those?

    • Heidi

Check out the Kohls post from yesterday- the first comment I believe was a deal for one!

      • rightasrainy

        Thank you! I got one!

  5. Trish

Does the thought of Black Friday and Christmas shopping freak anyone else out? I am so thankful for your work, Colin, and follow your site every day, but I think my anxiety level triples when I think of all the shopping I have to do!

    • Jennine

It will help if you make a budget and pLace a goal just below that in case you see something perfect but out of reach. And make a list, ask the receivers and they may do the work for you by giig you a list 😉

    • Happymama

My family did something that helped us all not to freak out, or spend a lot of money! We drew names and only bought for ONE person. It was like a Secret Santa, and we put a limit on it of $50. We did an email xmas list so we can actually get something we wanted/needed and we were still surprised. We did allow people to buy for the kids if they wanted but the whole point is to save money!

We’ll be doing it again this year year too. 🙂 I got my mom in the drawing last year. I did tons of Collin’s deals…I made her a Shutterfly book of my kids and her, Simple products that she loves, comfy socks from Sears points, jewelry b1g1 from Target….and lots, lots more. I made a huge basket for her and she loved it!

  6. Kelly

Anyone know if you’re allowed to use manufacture coupons on Black Friday? For example, on the Hasbro games that are on sale at Kmart?

    • Happymama

Heck yeah! That’s why I still love braving the stores lol. As long as it’s not expired, you should be able to use a coupon.

    • krishna

Last year kmart didn’t allow me to use mfq on fisher price toys on black friday.

      • Happymama

Oh wow. I never tried at Kmart and they like to make up rules as they go anyway. I’d still try. Good luck there! I know Meijer and Walgreen’s allowed me to use coupons on Black Friday last year.

        • Jena

BTW The KMart ad looks terrible this year. Everything looks like regular sale prices…nothing extraordinary to make me spend Black Friday there. I was disappointed.

  7. Jenna

Question about Walgreens reward points. How many lets say Advil (4ct $1.oo get 1000 points = $1.oo) can I get in a single transaction, and still get 1000 points per package?

  8. Annie Pulliam Shaw

Will we be able to get the same pricing at Sears and Kmart online, on Thanksgiving/Friday? Last year, many of the deals were available, but I haven’t seen anything about it this year.

  9. Andi

The Meijer site has there ads up as well. 3 days 3 sales and different ads. If you have one some of the things like pajamas and clothes etc were buy one get one, or get one for $1.

  10. Ashley

I’ll be doing all my shopping online as well. Are Black Friday deals better than cyber Monday deals? Will both be posted before hand so we know if prices will be lower instead of waiting?

    • Jennifer J

A lot of places actually do Black Friday online as well. This Thanksgiving night, after pie and turkey, husband and I will be searching on the computer.
Cyber Monday seems to be diminishing in scale in recent years as more retailers put up sales on said Thursday night/Friday morning. That’s just my observation, however.

  11. MiisNoel

I think they should call it “Black Thanksgiving!” Seriously, it makes me so mad that so many retailers are opening Thanksgiving evening. :[ Most around 5PM/6PM with KMart opening at 7AM and staying open for 42 Hours straight!!! I’m sorry, but it’s absolutely horrid … It’s really ruining it. I will be home with my family! No deal, monetary savings, or “hot” list item is worth losing special time with my family … Who knows what undetermined time I may or may not have left with them. (Just my opinion.;)

    • Diana

      Hi MiisNoel
I totally agree these retailers are going too far and I really feel for the workers who don’t get to spend the day with family 🙁 my mom worked at Kmart last thanksgiving even though they closed earlier in the day. But thank God her store closed down so she doesn’t have to work there this year

    • Arianne

Michaels is opening at 4pm. Crazy!

    • mar

I love the shopping! All my family live close and we make it a point to make “family time” at least once a month and not just the holidays, thats 7 brothers n sisters plus spouses and kids. So thanksgiving is our monthly gathering and dont mind if we leave a little early. Plus half the family will usually join in on the shopping.

    • Lauren

If you choose a job in retail then you risk working on holidays. There are plenty of people lined up for their job if they want to complain about working on Thanksgiving.

  12. Star

I feel like we can never celebrate a holiday. I cant believe stores have fall/ thanksgiving things on clearance just to get ready for christmas. Everything is so rushed now. Right after christmas, they start putting valentines and easter stuff out. We used to be able to enjoy holidays, now forget it! Stores open way to early on thanksgiving. I like it when stores opened late because we had time to enjoy thanksgiving dinner.

    • SLS

it’s possible to make a choice not to go shopping for every holiday too.

  13. Rowen

Are we going to get the top deals from each store for Black Friday or no? I understand it’s a lot, just curious.

  14. Pharmchick

Drugstores, assuming they have good free after rewards deals, are the only ones I dare go to on Black Friday. Everything else is done online or foregone. I am Grateful I don’t per se need to get anything but if the deal is that good, I might make an exception.

  15. Jena

I work at Wal-Mart and yes all the sales are starting Thanksgiving morning…it’s Black Thursday rather than Black Friday….I will not be surprised if next year it’s black Wednesday….and the year after that we can just call it “Black Week”. Lol, it’s a fun day to work, but the downside is that every retailer worker for Wal-Mart is required to work that day, so definitely no one gets a traditional thanksgiving break with their family. As a mother it’s difficult to not be with my kids. At least we get Christmas Day off…I would rather have that than Thanksgiving.

    • CW

Oh Jena that makes me so sick that you are required to work that day! I am so sorry. If everyone just stayed home these businesses wouldn’t open on Thanksgiving – especially that morning. It is just so wrong….

    • khrista

At our retailer, we are calling it “gray” Thursday into black Friday.. they’re projecting that we will be open all day on thanksgiving next year, like kmart/target. Open 36-48 hrs straight. This year, we are one of the stores opening @6pm. I guess one of the benefits for retail workers is that if we work on thanksgiving, we get some time on Friday to go black friday shopping ourselves. That just doesnt really appeal to me though.

  16. Karie

    Black Friday ad I mean!

  17. Des

I work at two different stores in a mall (old navy and Charlotte Russe) and we have to come to work for 4pm thanksgiving night and work 12-14 hour shifts. I’ll be working both jobs because it’s that or lose my hours, so I’ll be working a total of almost 24 hours. As much as I’d love to spend time with my family on the holiday, I’ll be celebrating early because I need the money, and companies like finding a reason to make you feel like you have to work on the holiday “or else”. Hopefully enough people make the decision to not shop on Thursday and companies motor that and let workers have Thursday off or at least let there not be consequences for not working. Just a point of view from a retail worker that has to work on the holiday.

  18. Amanda

Anyone know of any trampoline deals on Black Friday?

    • Debbie Couch

Trampoline deals at Walmart & Sports Authority for Black Friday

  19. Beth

Are the Walmart and Sports Authority trampoline deals online? I saw Kmart had a 12 foot enclosed trampoline that’s online only. I’m thinking about purchasing that so I don’t need to brave the stores.
