Does anybody know what the qualifying factors to receive these (and also the 40% off codes) or are they totally random? I’m not a cardholder but I am signed up for their emails. I buy a lot from kohls but I only get 20-30% off codes, never the 40%, and certainly never a $15 off $15. . If anybody knows the scheme, I’d love to hear it.
I called and asked last year and was told I needed to spend $600 annually on my Kohls credit card. I never spend that much.
I don’t think the $600 is true. I easily spend more than that at Kohls each year and I never get these free money emails. My husband and I both have accounts and we both only got the generic 20% off email last night, not the $15 off code. I wish I knew their theory. I never get the staples emails with $ off either.
The $600 is for being an mvc most valuable customer. I don’t know about emails but you get more coupon mailings a year. We got that this year because we moved and needed a lot for our new house.

I have been signed up for Kohl’s emails and mailed offers for several years and I am not cardholder. I have received quite a few emails during the mystery offers that are 40%, several that were 30% and just occasionally being 20%. I also received the $15 of $15. I do buy quite a bit online from them during sales – I like the stacking of codes!
Register for their Yes 2 You program if you haven’t already. No idea if that is the trick but it helps you accumulate even more free money and may help you qualify for extra bonuses.
I shop at Kohl’s VERY frequently, although I tend to stick to the clearance racks, so my total bill is never very high. But every little bit adds up, as I am an MVC Kohl’s cardholder, which means I spent at least $600 in the past year. It’s my go-to store for gifts, family clothes, shoes, etc. so my annual spending adds up, but I would need to spend that anywhere. I simply wait for either the Lowest Prices of the Season sales, clearance markdowns or 30% codes.
I have even trained my husband to scour the clearance racks! He brings my Kohl’s coupons and understands how to stack discounts there. Every time he comes home with a purchase, he proudly announces to me the good deals he got 🙂

When I checked my kohls coupon yesterday night, it showed as 15 off 15. Well, when I was at store to use it, somehow it just changed to 15 off 50. Did this happen to anyone else. Somehow, magically the words “when you spend 50 or more” appeared below the coupon. 🙁

This coupon is STILL usable! 🙂 I also got the $15 off $15 in my inbox two days ago. Went to use it today and it came up as $15 off $50! I told the cashier I wasn’t crazy and so we tried it anyway and it WORKED. So, even if your coupon has been modified to say $15 off $50, IT WILL STILL WORK ON ONLY $15. Hope this helps someone else! I got a pair of slippers and a chapstick for $0.65 today.

If you have time, please call in to let Kohl’s know about this situation and how unhappy you are. I realize people make mistakes, however there is something to be said for accountability and keeping your promise to customers. And power in numbers if they realize how many people this affected.

Thank you for this post! I printed my coupon last night and would not have seen it without your post. When I went to the store, the cashier thought it was $15 off $50. She checked with a manager who told her to honor it as $15 off $15. I’m glad I printed it last night and they honored it at the amount first printed. I had checked the fine print carefully. Since it said not valid with another $15 off $15, it seemed obvious that it was originally meant to be $15 off $15.
Whew . . . I’m glad I used my coupon last night! It went through just fine on a purchase of $19!

The code worked for me this afternoon. I opened the coupon on my phone then turned off my wifi before I left the house. I just showed it on my phone and it went through no problem. Spent 1.15 for slippers, playdough, and a t-shirt!

Really, all the money I spend at Kohls, the least they can do is give you a 15.00 off of 15.00, NO they go and change it after it is sent out and make it 15.00 off of 50.00.
I should start doing what my friends do and cool it with Kohls for awhile. They get actual incentive coupons that are 15.00 off of 15.00 mailed to them to bring them back into the store
Very frustrating. I was on live chat for 30 mins and was basically called a liar. He said there is no way we could have changed the email. So over kohls. They should have sent a retracted email…
I feel you- I asked on Twitter and included a pic, but got a response saying that they never had a $15 off $15 coupon. That’s cool if it is a mistake, but at least acknowledge it and they made it sound like I could read an email 🙁

I went and used the email that originally said $15 off of $15, but changed to $15 off of $50. I saw some people said it still worked. I had $16 worth of stuff and just brought up the barcode from the email and it did take the $15 off, no hassle. So if you still have the original email I would still go and use it!!! It should work!!!
