Love fresh guacamole?🥑

It’s a MUST have at my house as we could probably eat yummy guac every single day, especially on Taco Tuesday! 🌮 It also happens to be super easy to make at home. The secret is to use ripe avocados and fresh ingredients – no seasoning packets needed. In fact I normally don’t even use a specific recipe, you can just sort of eyeball these ingredients to your specific taste.

Easy Homemade Guacamole

Serves 6-8 as an appetizer

  • 3 medium avocados. ripened, seeded
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 cup red onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup tomatoes, chopped (If freezing leftovers, consider skipping tomatoes)
  • 1/2 of a jalapeno, seeded, chopped
  • juice of 1 lime
  • pinch or two of salt
  • tortilla chips for serving, if desired

  • Scoop out avocado into a medium bowl and mash. Careful not to over mash if you prefer a more chunky texture.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients with a spoon.
  • Chill guacamole covered in fridge until ready to serve.

Yes! Homemade guacamole is the best!

We like to eat it as a dip, inside salads, on top of  hamburgers, tacos, enchiladas, and more. You can even go further and season it with garlic and cumin. In a pinch, just mash fresh avocados and combine with your favorite salsa. It can be super versatile!

Curious about the fun bowl I used in these pictures?

It’s a mortar & pestle set found here. You can use it for crushing spices and herbs, making dressing, as well as making delicious guacamole!

Can I freeze guacamole?

Yes, you can! Avocados are on sale at my grocery store this week for just $.69/each, so I made a couple batches of guacamole, filled a few seal-able plastic baggies, and placed in the freezer to enjoy with future meals.

To defrost, simply move to the fridge or soak bag in room temperature water for 20 minutes. Next time I’d skip the tomatoes in my guacamole if planning to freeze because they didn’t freeze very well. The taste and texture was pretty good still when defrosted and will be perfect when we NEED a midweek guacamole fix!
