Beef stroganoff is one of our very faves! I usually take the crockpot route, although I have made it in my instant pot. This version sounds fantastic too. Thanks!

I love to use leftover roast and gravy and chip up the roast add a can of mushrooms and a small carton of sour cream a boil my egg noodles then pour over the noodles and enjoy. This is a awesome dish to make when you do not have enough roast to feed everyone but will go a long way in stroganoff. I use to cook at a tea room and this is how we used leftover roast and gravy.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh I love that idea!! Great tip Nicole!

OMG! Thank you so much for this series! I am so over cooking and never know what to make and normally end up making all the same things, which is BOORING!
    Thanks again!

Those mushrooms look soooo good! No one but me enjoys them 😔

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Aw Thanks! Yes, I have one kiddo that picks them out, and told him to put them right on my plate! LOL YUM.

I love stroganoff! My version is virtually identical to yours, except that I don’t add Worcestershire sauce. I’ve also made it using ground beef that I browned up well, and once I even made it w/ beef bacon (we don’t eat pork). Not authentic at all perhaps, but those versions worked really well in a pinch!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes love the ground beef version as well! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! <3

  7. Marcie Mullens

I make this in my Insta Pot all the time and it makes the beef stripes soooo tender, plus it is all in one pot.

Where does the last of the 3 tablespoons of butter go? It doesn’t mention it

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

About 3 for browning all the meat, and 3 for sautéing mushrooms and onion. Hope that helps!

  9. Mary

I’ve never made stroganoff with sour cream before and actually never eaten it with sour cream. My recipe has always been with cream cheese and it is delicious and super easy. I also like to change it up and make it with chicken. Guess I know what I’m cooking for tomorrow’s dinner. Thanks for the great ideas.
