I’m sorry you have lost your engagement ring! I read your post and wanted to share with you a ring my husband made me from a quarter.

He had to buy the quarter at a coin shop because it had to be 1949. He told me he got a 1949 quarter because that was the year my mom was born. My mother passed away when I was 12 so this ring is very sentimental to me. Also my dad made my mom a ring from a quarter when he was in high school in his shop class. My mom was 2 years older than my dad so she was driving him around when they dated in high school. LOL. Her birthday was yesterday.

Anyway I just wanted to share this with you. Praying that you find your ring.

my niece made a couple of these in her garage when she was about 14, and i am pretty sure she used tutorials online to teach herself.

My husband made me a ring out of a quarter, as well, and I am wearing it as I type this! His grandparents had wedding bands made of quarters and called them “Liberty Rings.” I have a traditional wedding band as well, but this ring will always mean more to me than anything New store bought. ❤️

I wear mine everyday. My grandfather couldn’t afford a ring for my grandmother after she lost her set. So he made one for her out of a silver quarter. Perfectly polished and beautiful. Think of them and their love for each other every day!

    Don’t do this…this is illegal. you’re defacing currency…

The Secret Service doesn’t bother about people making rings from coins. The US Mint used to actually sell jewelry, key chains, and other items, made from coins.

According to your interpretation of law, penny press machines that transform pennies into souvenirs are illegal. Am I understanding your position correctly?

Shannon, thank you so much for your post. I just bought to 1937 quarters to make rings for my sister and myself. our Dad passed in December will make a great gift for my sister. Can’t wait to try of course will try on newer quarter first.

My grandfather did the same for my grandmother back in the 50s. It took a very long time as he used a spoon to beat it smooth over time. He later bought her one with a diamond, but she preferred the one he made.

So do you but the quarter and take it to a ring place? Where do you do this at?

  21. Ashley

That’s so sweet! I teared up a little when you said he chose your moms birth year. So thoughtful!
