That is an awesome price for the oculus! Would make a great Christmas gift! I own one with 64 gb and we love it!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

We own one and love it, too! I agree on the price, Stacy! It’s awesome!

  2. Matalier

Any idea if the 64gb Oculus will be on sale? 😬 I was planning on getting it for Christmas for my husband, but I’d love to get it now if there’s a deal!

  3. Amy

A lot of deals are already live today if you are a prime member and have an Echo Dot. You have to have voice purchasing turned on, but you just ask Alexa “what are my deals?” And you can purchase a lot of things today.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      Thanks so much, Amy!

  4. Meg

I am keeping an eye out for computer deals (desktop all-in-ones: Dell/HP/Lenovo). Anyone know of any deals coming on those for Prime day, or elsewhere?

      • Meg

        Thank you!

    • Joe

Try looking at IGN daily deals, they’ve been posting some nice computer deals lately on gaming pcs and office type pcs from Dell and such and include the links to those website.

      • Meg

Ooh, thank you!! Will do! 🙂

    • animity

Check out the ACERS. We have had one for nine years now and we a barely starting to think about getting a new one. I love that machine….

  5. Jess

Will be watching for an air fryer, my son moved out with his and I miss it so!!!

    • Evan

Not sure what state you are in but lots of stores have them on sale right now. If you are in Tx, check H-E-B. They are $39.99/49.99 depending on which brand/size you select.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Did you see the deal on this air fryer, Jess?

  6. candis

Im baaaaad with technology so plz help. We r moving in August and plan to buy a new TV. Im assuming we will be getting a 4k tv for the obvious reasons with the biggest reason being the affordability and they r everywhere, anyways, i want to buy the amazon fire stick. Could i buy the non 4k one ? What does it have to do with it ?? Will a 4k stick work on a reg flat screen smart tv ??
Also how does the fire stick work ? I just have to have amazon prime ? Or do i pay amazon a monthly fee ??
Please help. While my questions seem almost non believable i promise you, i do hang my head low at my horrific knowledge of such common things now. If it makes my case any better ican pretend im 85 years old and its all new to me and not a 41 yr old woman 😥🙃

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Let me try to answer all your questions, candis. If you buy a 4K TV, you DO want the 4K fire stick. If you use a non 4K fire stick in a 4K TV it won’t broadcast in 4K – but it will work, but show your programs like a regular 1080 TV.
So basically, you’ll want the 4K first stick with a 4K TV to watch it in 4K.
If you own the 4K first stick, it will work on regular TV’s so that’s always a bonus.
The fire stick just plugs into the back of your TV and helps you navigate or search around for programs. It’s similar to a Roku if you have used one of those before. It will show Hulu, Netflix, Amazon and other apps you have for channels. You DO NOT need Amazon Prime at all to use a fire stick.
Don’t worry, I am the same as you. We have all these devices in my home and I have to ask my husband for clarification.

    • Angela

Candis, don’t ever feel bad that you don’t understand the technology! There are SOOO many gadgets and things are moving so quickly it’s hard to keep up! I can’t answer the first couple of questions, but hopefully someone else can. I do own a fire stick and the way it works is you plug it into a port in the back of your TV and you also need a power source. If you have ever used YouTube and are a visual learner (like me!) they have some great videos on how to install it and how to get to it because you’ll have to change the input/source of your tv. Hope that helps and good luck 🙂

    • Pia

Yes a non 4k firestick will work on a 4k TV. To operate the firestick you just need an Amazon acct, not necessarily a Amazon prime acct. If you get a prime acct though you will have access to movies. The firestick just streams movies from various places like Hulu, Netflix etc. You will need accts with those streaming services. You can also stream music and play games. Amazon prime has a fee as well. Using the firestick is fairly easy and straightforward. Hope this helps

    • Diana

Lol, my mom is 85 and is more tech savvy than me! Ha! Ha! You do have a humorous writing style, so that is one of your strong suits! 🙂

    • Jess

Candis, you would greatly benefit from a trip to your local Best Buy. They are more than happy to answer questions in person and in detail. Just don’t go on the weekend when they’re swamped.

  7. candis

I CANNOT THANK YOU ALL ENOUGH! Im so glad i asked. My questions were def answered. I had such a vague idea but i honestly mostly get it. Its funny because im trying not to buy too much now as it just adds to the stuff we will have to move with but i feel like at these prices i dont want to miss a deal that we are going to want and will be using. I also figure whatever doesnt get bought now will wait for the next “black friday”. Hugs and high fives to each of you.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Hi again, candis! I wanted to chime in and let you know we just moved across the country and having the Amazon Fire stick with us was amazing! We actually packed it in our luggage and could use it at any hotel and at the Airbnb we stayed in before we found a home. I am so glad we kept ours when we downsized. HUGS back to you and good luck on your move!

    • Brittany

If you are getting a smart tv, you do NOT need a fire stick. The difference between a smart tv and regular tv is that the features of a fire stick/roku/etc. are already built into a smart tv, thus eliminating the need for a device of that sorts. HTH!

      • Jordan

I want to offer a different opinion regarding smart TVs vs. devices such as the fire sticks or the Apple TVs. At least if you have multiple TVs in your home. Every one of my TVs is a smart TV but I still chose to have an Apple TV connected to each so that the interface was the same on each (later I also added a fire stick to each for other reasons). The problem I have with smart TVs is that they each seem to have their own interface meaning that you have to learn a different way to navigate and run apps such as Hulu and Netflix. I have even seen that the apps themselves work differently on different smart TVs. Annoying.

That’s a pain and while obviously there’s an extra cost to buying separate devices, I have found it to be worth the Investment just to standardize the interface.

One caveat: The 4K Apple TV has a slightly different interface than the non 4K version. Same with the 4K fire stick vs the non-4K version but the difference is minimal.

Any advice on the kids fire tablets or what they come with?

    • Ashley

Around 2015 I got my kids the regular 7” fire tablets when they were 4 and 5 years old, and they have held up amazingly well. I’m glad I didn’t spend the extra money on the kid version. I didn’t need the case or any extra bloatware with the already limited storage. They are the most durable tablets we’ve ever had even without a fancy case, but I eventually got cheap, sturdy cases on eBay for under $5.

      • Lisa

Does it come with games or apps or anything? My friend has a kids tablet & it came with stuff for them for like a year or 2. Looking for one for my 4.5 year old.

        • Ashley

The regular fire tablets we had didn’t come with any apps, but I was able to download lots of free age appropriate apps, games, and ebooks from the Amazon App Store.

      • Megan

We have 4 of the kids kindle fire tablets and we love them. My kids are actually currently playing on them while we road trip. They come with a free year of free time unlimited which has a ton of kid appropriate games, apps, shows etc and they are based on ages of kiddos. Also, they come with a 2 year worry free guarantee (which we have had to use). They have been great for us! Our kids are ages 3-7 if that is helpful too.

        • Lisa

That helps, thanks! My friend has these (I wasn’t sure if it was them or not) & her kids love them too. I believe our hand me down iPad is about to break (home button isn’t working) & we use it for YouTube music at night. Will it play it?

        • Joanna

We have these too and love them. Can we get the deal here and add that additional year to our current plan even though we are already members? I saw that current free time can’t get the free headphones but adding the year would be great!

          • Lisa

Is this a good deal, or are there better ones around Black Friday?

  9. Molly

Anything for sale that will allow me to record shows? We just moved to the country so no cable. Our internet works only half the time and is too slow for Hulu. I’m hoping to find a way to watch sports but I’ll need a way to record them since the hubby works nights one week and days another.

    • Jordan

The Amazon Recast is already on sale for Prime Day. It is a DVR for over-the-air broadcasts. Great deal!

      • Molly

        Thank you 😊

  10. Jennifer

I tried everything to get the prime pantry deal and my account would not accept the code. Is it because I have a business prime account?

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

I did some reading on this Jennifer. Business Prime is a separate program for business-specific features and benefits. A personal Amazon Prime membership supports household and entertainment benefits included Amazon Fresh, Prime Pantry, Prime Now & more. So you cannot get this on a business prime account. Hope this helps!

  11. Jordan

Hi! Do you know if there will be any deals on the high-end Roombas or the Roborock S6?

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

We are not sure, however, so many stores are competing in Prime Day this year we might see them!

  12. Jaelin

I’m looking for a go-pro or similar sport camera in quality. (The 360’ degree one by Garmin would be great too) Is prime day best or should I wait for Black Friday?

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

We won’t know until we see some on sale, Jaelin. Then we will compare to previous prices and let you know!

      • Barbara

        I am interested, too!

  13. Diana

I’m looking for a wireless color printer that uses toner and not inkjet.

  14. Victoria W. C.

The Fire TV sticks, Fire tablets, and Echo dot and Echo dot kids deals are available on Alexa. Have never used a Fire TV stick, is it better than Roku or comparable? Thanks!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

I have used a Roku and a Fire Stick. The Fire Stick to me is more user-friendly, but I do have Prime and like to watch Prime movies on it as well. The Fire Stick is also a little bit more responsive in my opinion.

      • Desiree

I second the fire stick. I’ve had both and the fire stick is MUCH more responsive and versatile.

  15. g

When is the deal for Portal going to happen??

  16. Amy

I just bought the Fire stick for the sale price of 14.99! 🙂

  17. Rachel

Kindle deal is live just purchased 2 for $45!

  18. Nanette

My son crashed the hard drive in my pc. He was using it for all his high tech dj music stuff & games😑
Looked on Amazon and they had a one day deal for prime members. We got a Dell gaming pc for $750 normally $1200 and the best part I was able to do the 5 pay for $150 a month. Woot Woot
