I found this at TJ Maxx and I love it! Favorite laundry stuff, hands down! It got everything clean and my clothes were super fresh. My son has sensitive skin and this didn’t bother him at all.

Oh awesome! I’ve never tried it! Thanks a bunch for sharing your experience!

SWEET! Thanks so much for commenting! Good to know how much you have liked it!

Is this detergent or an additive?

    • DSch

      It’s a detergent.

  4. Suzy

Should I use fabric softener with this detergent?

    • Maggie

Suzy, my suggestion would be that you should not use it with ANY detergent. It contains some really toxic chemicals, IMHO. Not only does it leave nasty chemicals on your clothes, but the fumes from it trigger asthma attacks in some. I was a Downy addict for many years but weaned myself off of the chemical fragrances. Now they almost make me gag when I smell them on someone — I don’t even want to be in the room with Gain users because they smell so revolting now that my nose/senses have adjusted to being able to smell the chemical brew. It’s kind of like when smokers quit and finally can smell how gross it is — regular fabric softener users have the same scent-blindness to how gross those chemicals really smell. Just use white vinegar in your fabric dispenser cup — the vinegar smell vanishes, and helps pull any lingering soap residue out. Your clothes will smell *clean*, instead of dowsed in a synthetic chemical brew.

Oooh, I hate the smell of Gain too, not sure what is so great about it! I use vinegar in my softener dispenser.

This is my favorite laundry detergent. I usually buy the huge tub on HSN once a year and it lasts.

    • sarah l

I get mine from HSN also! It cleans great and I love that it doesn’t have lots of nasty chemicals in it.

Is this washing soda for laundry stripping, like the recipe posted by Hip2Save a few days ago? Thanks.

    • LisaK

No, not really. It’s a laundry detergent. So you wouldn’t necessarily soak your wash with it for hours or overnight but I suppose you could. It does not contain all the same ingredients as described for stripping. It contains only 3 ingredients. Fragrance and phosphate free. The first ingredient is sodium carbonate which is washing soda (cleaner). Then Alcohol ethoxylates (surfactant – cleaner)and these can be used as detergents, wetting agents, emulsifiers, degreasers and emollients in many products. Last is Sodium Metasilicate (a salt) an effective cleaner to remove stubborn stains.

        Thank you!

For HE top load machines, would you put the powder in with the clothes? I’m assuming it wouldn’t do too well in the soap dispenser?

    • witoldyna

My washer says to not put any powdered detergents in the dispenser drawer but my previous top load he washed (LG) did not have any problems with it (but it had a removable insert which you had to take out if using powders)

  8. MH

My husband does landscaping so his clothes get DIRTY. Can anyone comment on how it works on extra dirty clothing?

  9. Katrina

Thank you! Not a member but took the surcharge and still got it. Look forward to trying it. I usually use Seventh Generation laundry detergent.

  10. Nancy Carrillo

Love this stuff, don’t use any rinses or softener either. If you wish sent ,use some essential oil on the dryer balls!
