This would be a good starter breadmaker for those who can’t knead (like me) to save themselves! I only have the machine knead the bread and then I transfer the dough to a bread pan and bake like normal. I have my Zojurishi breadmaker and wouldn’t trade it for the world. I’ve been baking since well before the pandemic hit, and bake a loaf of bread every 3 days or so. If you have a membership at Costco/Sam’s the bricks of yeast are dirt cheap compared to the small packets or jars in stores (I store what I am not immediately using in the freezer). Years ago, Sam’s Club used to sell some amazing bread flour, but no more. 🙁 Now, I have my DIL pick me up a bag of Costco bread flour every few months.
Lisa, you can now buy bread flour at Sam’s. I too, buy them by the bulk and then repackage them at home. Definitely a saving! I have been baking bread during the pandemic and still does. Thanks for the tip on freezing the yeast. Will definitely do that. I have the westbend bread maker that I love, and will check on zojirushi. Zojirushi rice maker is awesome, too!

Our store did not have it for a period of time too and I am so glad to have it back! It is in a red bag. I find it hard to spot for some reason.
Oh, darn, I just checked my club store and they don’t carry it. Why I ask? Why? 🙂 Oh, well, I’ll check out other clubs when I’m near one.

zee, may I ask how you store your flours when buying in bulk? We have a serious problem in our home with flours, spices and dry goods getting infested.
My old Zojirushi bread machine needs repair- is it worth sending in ( as they say is necessary) or should I just junk it?
My very first Zojurishi did that but I didn’t repair it. I made the mistake of just getting any old bread maker as I didn’t think it would make a big difference. Huge difference… and I then went and bought a new one. Good luck in your decision. Mine is starting to make some squeaking noises! Would love for you to follow-up.
My Zo is eight years old and it has pretty much always squeaked when it is kneading. I did replace the pan after about five years but I think my husband took the bread out and sat it on a warm burner on the stove and melted the gasket around one of the paddles. I would not trade my Zo for any other brand. I went through other brands of machine in a year since we bake all our bread and make dough for other dishes.
I’m glad to see that I’m in good company. I know they’re pricier than others, but wouldn’t change a thing. I don’t mind paying more for quality.
