I am coming from a Series 8 which I had no complaints about. This razor is comparable to the Series 8 but has a few advanced features. The head is larger with 4 razors instead of 3. It’s a bit faster than the Series 8. You get a really close shave with no irritation or burns. The other benefit is you can buy this $100 cheaper at Costco than anywhere else. And you have a very good return policy if you don’t like it. I am confident you will find this razor an excellent buy. I was looking at the Norelco Prestige but wanted a cleaning station to keep the shaver clean and well lubricated. I had the Norelco 6500 but found that it would get stubble stuck in the blades despite me cleaning it every day. With the Series 9, you can get a fresh razor every day with the cleaner. I also have a Series 3 as a backup for this razor. It also is a good razor but this one is the best.
Regarding speed: This thing is easily the fastest way to shave, even compared to the triple circular blade shavers. That’s partly because this thing has a powerful engine that eats even very thick beards, but it’s also because its design makes clean lines (like sideburns) very easy to achieve without switching anything around. It’s also easy to clean being one step, never taking the head apart, and changing razor heads takes 5 seconds if that.
