Hip Tips to keep in mind…
- Please keep in mind that you can change up this scenario to grab products that you typically use in your home as long as the total is at least $25 before coupons and pricing may vary in your area. This is just one of the many scenarios that you can do and save big!
- You will need to be logged in to your Dollar General account in order to see all of the digital coupons mentioned above. You can clip the coupons in advance or scan the products with your DG app in-store, however, my store has spotty service so I like to clip in advance. Some coupons may not come up by searching the name, so you’ll need to open the digital coupons page and scroll if you don’t find it immediately.
- I find that it works best to enter your phone number into the keypad AFTER the cashier has scanned all of your items and hit total.
- Be sure to check out with a cashier! I’ve tried self-checkout at two different stores and my digital coupons did not all apply to my purchase even when I entered my phone number!
- My store (and every other DG I’ve been in) seems to be a wifi/cell dead zone with no service beyond the entrance to the store! I place my items into the shopping cart and head to the front of the store to use the Dollar General app to scan them to be sure the coupons are attaching prior to check out.

My local DG has wifi now (yeah), so I use the app to scan my stuff as I pick it up and it shows me my running total and let’s me know what digital coupons may or do apply.

They just built a brand new DG just outside of my subdivision and the wifi and service actually work in the store! Plus, it’s ginormous and so clean and organized!
I just clipped my coupons and added my items to my list…but it’s showing me my total after coupons are applied..will the $5/$25 still come off even though my total is only $15 after coupons? First time doing this!

I think it doesn’t work in all states or stores bc the total here has to be 25 after coupons for that to work. Prevents the super deals for sure
Some of the DG’s in my area have wifi so I can connect while in store. I also like to have a back up plan in case these items are out of stock. For example, this week I don’t need that many chips and soda for my household of 2 so I changed it up a bit. I’m hoping to go for the first list but will settle for second list if need be. Hi Diane! In my area of Pennsylvania, select 12 pack sodas are 3/$10. You could always double check your store ad or call in to your location to be certain. Hoping this helps!
I live in the Kansas City MO area and my store does not take off the $5 off of $25 unless you have that total after coupons or unless you have all mfg coupons and no DG ones. When you read the fine print it states about DG coupons.
Another good deal is omit the three Lay’s chips and buy 1 Lay’s and 1 Pepsi and use the $2.00 coupon. Buy the 6 pack bottles for 3.75 and the chips for 3.00. Total is .75 more but then you get 2.00 off so total should be lower.
As a male coupon (rare category)…I was able to make this work with a slight adjustment…airwick was out of stock…but found a buy 3 get 1 powerade shelf sale along with the buy 3 get 1 free digital DG coupon…total after all coupons applied $14.77 for 18 items… $0.82 per item…cant beat it…thanks Colin!
