Fresh Strawberry Lemonade
yield: 4 SERVINGS
prep time: 5 MINUTES
cook time: 5 MINUTES
total time: 10 MINUTES
A fruity twist on classic lemonade as a refreshing summer drink served over ice.
Ingredients
- 12 strawberries + extra for garnish
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup lemon juice (about 8 lemons) + wedges for garnish
- 2 cups ice
Directions
1
In a small saucepan, add water and sugar and heat over low/medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves entirely (about 3 to 4 minutes) to make a simple syrup. Set aside and allow to cool.
2
While your simple syrup is cooling, wash and dice up all of your strawberries. Set aside.
3
Squeeze all of your lemons (about 8 whole lemons) using a hand press. Remember to keep a few extra wedges for garnish if desired.
4
Once your simple syrup has cooled, add everything but ice into a blender and blend for about 90 seconds until well blended.
5
Pour your blended mixture over a strainer so that the liquid drains into a jug or canister of your choice. Reserve all liquid and discard the leftover strawberry purée.
6
Add about half a cup of ice to each glass and pour about 1 cup of lemonade over ice and garnish with a lemon wedge or strawberry if desired. Enjoy!
Tips when making fresh strawberry lemonade:
- Use a hand press for your lemons. It’s quick & easy to get what you need for your lemon juice. If you don’t already have one, here’s the same brand that Lina used to make her lemonade.
- Feel free to use a desired sweetener that is right for you. For instance, instead of using granulated sugar, try granulated monk fruit for a lower in calaries version! In fact, check out our keto strawberry lemonade on Hip2keto.com!
- Consider adding a good vodka for an adult beverage idea this summer!
- Waiting a few days to make this recipe and don’t want your berries to go bad? Here are 3 genius ways to make your fresh strawberries last longer.
Even Jenna, my other Hip sidekick had to try out this recipe! Here’s what she had to say about this drink:
“This lemonade is so refreshing! There is nothing that says summer more than lemonade with a fresh berry flavor! The kids and I made a second batch after a day of fun outside, and it was the perfect hydrating treat!”
Cheers to summer and great drinks!
Throw this easy queso on the grill to complete your backyard summer menu.
So refreshing…perfect hot weather drink!
Does anyone know if you can make this last more than one day? Can u make it ahead of time without going bad?
This recipe only yields 4 servings- that’s why it didn’t last more than a day. If you have the extra containers available, you can double or triple the recipe ingredients to make 8-12 drinks. For another idea, you can make popsicles too!
I like the popsicle idea!
I can something similar to this as a concentrate, then we add 7up or sprite instead of water. We enjoy it all winter long. You can also swap out raspberries for the strawberries. Yummy!
I would love your concentrate recipe!!! Do you mind sharing?
Peel lemons remove the seeds place in vitamix with water and strain. Place strawberries, blueberries or any berry blend on high no straining needed.
Sounds delicious, I love strawberry lemonade! Thanks for the recipe!
I read recently to cut a little of the lemon off the bottom before you put in the squeezer. Then the juice can escape through the holes in the squeezer.
You are supposed to put the CUT SIDE down in a squeezer. After squeezing it will have turned the lemon inside out.
A friend of mine made something similar last week but blended ice with it to make it a frozen lemonade. We also used sweetleaf stevia drops to give it sweetness without using sugar. It was delicious.
I have a bottle of lemon juice, will that work or will it taste bad?
Bottled lemon juice is okay.
Of anyone is curious, you can make simple syrup in a large batch and store it in a jar in your fridge for up to 4 weeks! That way you can make this drink in a snap without waiting for your simple syrup to cool.
I should think you could add a little water to the purée and freeze it in a popsicle or ice cube tray with sticks for a nice treat
I make it simple. Blend strawberries with sugar (freeze extra). Use sparkling water and some fresh lemons or even lemon juice.
