I had been researching the (name brand) Instant Pot for months, and I was intrigued but wasn’t sure I wanted to spend a lot on an appliance I might not end up liking or using. So when the Insignia 8 quart model came on sale at Best Buy, it was too good to pass up. Little did I know that I would love it so much that I would end up buying a second one too! We are huge fans of pressure cooking now!
We have done a full turkey breast (bone-in), a small ham, tons of chicken recipes, pulled pork, soups, pasta, and cakes, and everything has been SO GOOD! Pressure cooking infuses your food with so much flavor. Everything comes out tender, moist, and delicious. It also has a sauté mode, which comes in very handy.
We find ourselves cooking in this almost every night now. It is fun to use, easy to operate, saves us time, and the food tastes great. We are enjoying experimenting with new recipes and eating better than ever.
This unit is easy to clean and includes an instruction book. Unfortunately, there are no recipes included, but you can find tons of Instant Pot recipes online and on YouTube.
Most of the Instant Pot optional accessories will fit this pot too. I bought a two-pack of instant Pot colored silicone sealing rings from Target and they work perfectly fine in the insignia. You may also want to consider buying some metal stackable containers they sell on Amazon for pot-in-pot cooking. A 6qt bundt pan and a 7-inch springform pan are helpful for making desserts and cheesecakes. But these are nice to have, not necessary.
In the first week I owned this I made beef stew, chicken and dumplings, and then chicken noodle soup. It generally took me longer to do the prep work than it took to cook the meal.
