Recently I shared some earth-friendly products that we should all be switching to. Not only are they more frugal, but they also contribute to making the Earth a better and cleaner place. While I’ve slowly but surely adapted to these life-changing improvements, I’m totally obsessed with one recent switch in particular.

Say hello to these reusable beeswax wraps! 😍

I had these wraps sitting in my Amazon cart forever – simply because they were on the pricier side and I just wasn’t sure that I’d like them. It wasn’t until Christmas that a friend ended up gifting me a variety pack of Bee’s Wraps and I fell in love with them at first use!

I immediately ordered more so that I’d have enough for all my kids’ school lunches! 😍

On average, I was using about 3 plastic sandwich bags to pack my kids lunches every single day. 😬 Not only does that get expensive to continue purchasing, but it’s a horrible waste of plastic and bad for the environment.

Over the course of 10 years, that’s about 21,600 bags and $1,723 that I would be spending! 😱

Bee’s Wrap is naturally antimicrobial and can be reused for up to an entire year! It’s made from GOTS-certified organic cotton, sustainably sourced beeswax, organic jojoba oil, and tree resin. All of the ingredients combined create a malleable and easy-to-use food wrap that can be used over and over again!

I also love that they come in so many different sizes, fun colors & patterns, and some even come with a cute wood button and tie to keep your yummy sandwiches perfectly sealed.

Here’s are all my favorite benefits to using Bee’s Wrap – Beeswax Food Wraps:

  • A natural alternative to plastic
  • They’re ethically sourced
  • Easy to clean
  • Made right in the USA
  • Fully biodegradable
  • Green America certified
  • Durable and keeps food fresh
  • They can also be used to cover bowls

One downside I did come across is when my son lost his lunch box recently and it happened to be on the second day that I had used the Beeswax wraps to pack his lunch. 😫 Sadly, it never turned up so I had to purchase another pack, but for the cost I was going to be saving and the amount of plastic I would be cutting out, I was willing to pay to replace them.

Now, we are just extra careful and had a really long talk about being more responsible with lunch boxes, so hopefully, this is something we will avoid moving forward.

Hip Tip: Need an affordable lunch box for your kids? When my son lost his, I found this lunch box made by Wildkin on Amazon and so far I’m very impressed by the quality and think it will last for quite a while! Plus, it was under $10 (at the time of purchase) and I was able to score free shipping with my Amazon Prime membership.

hand washing bees wrap with brush

Washing them definitely isn’t the most convenient thing in the world either, but I find them to be much easier to wash, dry and use rather than some of the reusable silicone bags I’ve tried in the past.

To wash them, I use my favorite cleaning brush, squirt a little bit of soap, and rinse with cold water. If you pat them dry, they’ll be ready to fold up and put back in your cabinet in a matter of minutes. 🙌

Still on the fence? Here’s what other reviewers have said about them:

Beeswax wraps covering veggies on table

“I can’t recommend these beeswax wraps enough. The antimicrobial aspect of the beeswax keeps fruits and vegetables super fresh for much longer than plastic bags. They also keep breads softer and fresher for much longer than Ziplocs, they’re unquestionably better for the environment, and they can be reused for a long time!” – Stacy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Wow, what a product! I’m very impressed – I wrapped a block of cheese in this and popped in the fridge where I fully expected the cheese to dry out within a couple of days. I looked at it today (one week later) and the cheese is as fresh as when I purchased it. Well done Bees Wraps, I’m totally sold on this reusable product as an alternative to cling film plastic!” – Sandra ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“These are amazing! I have never written a review before but this product is so fabulous I just had to! They are even better than I had hoped. They keep my half avocado as fresh as the moment I sliced it with NO brown discoloring – even after two days of sitting around! I used it to cover a bowl of leftover fruit salad that I had made on Thursday and by Sunday it was as good as when I had first made it. A real joy to use and I will definitely be buying more for myself and to gift to friends!” – Olivia ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I LOVE these and if you buy directly from the company they will offer you 10% off. They have a ton of selections and videos to let you know how to clean and how you can origami fold them. They are a Vermont brand. <3

  2. Micci

I have been using these the past 3 years and absolutely adore them.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Awesome to hear how much you have been loving them, Micci! Thanks for the feedback!

  3. ohjodi

I have that exact brand, and the beeswax flavors breads and cheese. I’ve hand washed them many times, and that problem continues.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh darn! Sorry to hear that. I wonder if using the cleaning brush suggested above, might help.

I want to love these so much but I don’t. I bought them hoping to use them like plastic wrap on top of open dishes etc. I can never get them to stick enough to provide any kind of seal. Maybe I’ll have to try a sandwich. I love the idea and have no issue with quality or anything.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Bummer! Hoping they work better for you on sandwiches!

    • Kelsey

I bought mine for the same reason and have found they wont stick to anything. They barely even stick to themselves. Really disappointed.

Have anyone tried the trader joes one? I always see them and they are cheaper. Is it really supposed to be stiff? That’s how the TJs version are.

    • Melani

I have the TJ’s and don’t use them. They’re too stiff and don’t stick.

Unfortunately these do not prevent sandwiches, etc from getting squished in lunch box. I use the plastic containers from Ikea which fit a sandwich perfectly. They last years and come in a combo pack with various sizes.

  8. Heather C

Trader Joe’s sells similar ones much cheaper that work great. 😊

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

SWEET! Thanks, Heather C! We’ll have to look for those too!

  9. Valerie0408

I’ve seen a few people at farmers markets selling these from their own hives.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      That’s really cool!
