What are Crumbl cookies, and what’s the appeal?

Crumbl cookies are large specialty bakery-style cookies with various mouth-watering flavors that rotate each week. The soft sugar cookies with pink frosting are one of their most iconic varieties and are undeniably delicious. They are freshly baked and are often decorated right after you order in an open-air bakery-style store.

Each Sunday, we look forward to the new cookie flavors announced on social media for the week because the cookies are a feast for the eyes and stomach. Thanks to social media, my teens and their friends are big fans, and we enjoy them as special occasion treats, as they are super sweet and also super pricey!

At Crumbl, a box of four large cookies is priced at $14.35. In my opinion, that is a lot of money for just FOUR cookies, but they taste insanely good and it means no one messes up my kitchen baking them! HA 😂

Check out the Sam’s Club copycat Crumbl cookies in their bakery!

These Member’s Mark colossal sugar cookies are made in-store, have a similar look and feel to the packaging, and are priced much less than Crumbl. You can grab a pack of four large cookies for just $5.98 vs. $14.35 at Crumble!

That’s almost a 60% savings compared to Crumbl, so I decided to take a box of each cookies home and give them a taste test myself to compare them side-by-side and see which ones tasted better!

These sugar cookies look so similar, don’t they?

Both cookies are frosted, have a soft crumbly texture, and are about the same size. The Crumbl sugar cookie is slightly larger and thicker in size.

Now for the moment of truth… how does the taste compare?

I cut each cookie in quarters and had my family taste with me. We were all super impressed with how well Sam’s Club Oh My Dough cookies compared to Crumbl!

The bottom line is they tasted so similar and so delicious.

The Sam’s Club version was a little denser and not as thick, but the frosting and everything about the cookie compared well! I was honestly pleasantly surprised!

We all agreed the Crumbl cookie tasted slightly better and fresher, but these Oh My Dough cookies are an awesome copycat, especially for the price.

If you like Crumbl sugar cookies, I would encourage you to give these Sam’s Club ones a try. I will for sure be buying them again. The best part, at just $5.98 a box, these are such a great value compared to the more expensive Crumbl cookies, too!

Three cheers for this affordable snacking option! 🍪

We tried the Sam’s Club Colossal cookies a couple weeks ago. We also thought they tasted just like Crumbl sugar cookies. So nice to have another option nearby because so often we are waiting in line just to get into Crumbl.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes agree! Also, last week Crumbl started not carrying the sugar cookie each week, so its a rotating one now I was told by my store.
I am glad you liked this option too! Thanks for sharing!

I had to laugh, you have listed the Sam’s Brand as MAKER’s MARK instead of Member’s Mark under the second Picture. I am not complaining or judging or anything, just laughing because would that NOT BE AWESOME to have maker’s mark cookies at Sam’s????????? Thank you for all the time that you spend putting these savings together and keep up the good work!!!!!!! Thank you!!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Lol OMG oops – so funny thanks for pointing that out!

  3. Dkp91576

My favorite are the Cheryl’s buttercream frosting cookies and I love when they go on clearance! Shoprite also sells a copycat of those for cheap. They are delicious. I need to find these Sam’s ones.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh nice! Yes, those are yummy too.

  4. grandmat57

I am in the Tulsa, Ok. area. I was told they only carry those cookies at Christmas time!!! 😡😡😡😡😡 I thought that was all Sam’s? You all are finding these cookies now?!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes correct. About a week ago.

    • ava davis

i like you i love thoes cookie too i want all of the cookie

  5. Around the World

I don’t get the appeal of Crumbl. What is it about the cookies that everyone loves. They are too big and dry so why so much love? Just curious.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hmm dry? Interesting. I haven’t found them to be dry, but the flavors are over the top sweet sometimes and can only eat about 1/4 cookie. Lol
The teens seems to really be into it. Trendy right now, and they are unique so 🤷🏻‍♀️ My fav right now is the walnut chocolate chip.

      • Anna

Maybe she let it sit out too long?
        They’re not dry 😂
It’s not really like 4 cookies in the box because they’re huge. I’ve never eaten a whole one, I guess some people might though.

        • Alikia29

I can easily eat a whole one. Ha! 1/4 is actually what they consider a “serving.”

    • Casey

I have never had a dry Crumbl cookie.

    • Laurie Villotta

      Crumbl Cookie hands down!!!

  6. Brandi

I’ve had dry sugar cookies at crumble also. I heard they keep the sugar cookies up to 3 days which explains why sometimes they are really fresh and other times dry for me too. I am super picky about frosted sugar cookies because we used to have a cookie place in our mall for over 30 years who made them similar and they were better than crumble in my opinion. 💕

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Interesting! Yes, I miss the mall ones that were kinda chewy – forgot the name.

      • Raquel

Yes Lina! I’m in AZ so I think I know what you’re talking about. I can’t remember if it was Fiesta Mall or the Chandler Fashion Mall. Was it Mrs. Fields or Original Cookie Co.? I tried googling but can’t find anything. They were so good. You’d get a bag full of the mini cookies, I hated sharing them with my brothers! 🙂

  7. Aerokiki

I just left Sam’s Club and spoke to the bakery and it is a holidays cookie so if there are still some in stores it is just the inventory they received for Christmas…would have loved to try them…have to wait until December 2022 I guess.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Awww bummer! Thanks for letting us know. It doesn’t look like a Christmas cookie- darn.

      • Aerokiki

I know it doesn’t look like Christmas only, but that is the info I got from the lead bakery worker today. Hoping I can find some at another store in the area, lol.

        • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

          Yes, absolutely! Good luck 🙂

    • Shelly

Just bought 2 packs today (6/11/2022) at Sam’s! They’re so good!!

  8. lindak

I agree that cheryls are the best. I would never pay that much for crumbls. My coworker bought some for my birthday and I’m sorry she spent the money.

  9. Mzannn

Does anyone know if the almond flavor extract is overpowering like Crumbl’s?

  10. Mz Teacher

I’m California the Crumb cookies are four for $16.50….

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

  11. Sharina

WA state a 4 pack is $15.38 but they’re so good! I do find the sugar cookies to be a bit dry sometimes like others have stated. The classic sugar is my least favorite of the flavors I’ve had.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks for sharing Sharina!

  12. GTgrad

I like chocolate chip more than sugar cookies, so I need to good knock off of those. We just got crumbl and they are definitely pricey but I love the chocolate chip.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yum! Thanks for sharing!

  13. Tina G.

Tried two of our local Sam’s clubs and they haven’t got the cookies in, in over two weeks. Guessing discontinued or just a Christmas item as noted above. Bummer. We do not have a Crumbl’cookie here so was excited to try this dupe.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

DARN IT! 🙁 Thanks for sharing.

  14. Lily

Just got some at our Asheville, NC store: can’t wait to get home and try them!

  15. SavingsMama

We just recently scored some churro flavor cookies from Sam’s for $3.68 for a 4 pack. I took them out of the box and warmed in countertop oven. When I served, quite a few asked if they were Crumbl cookies 😆 When I revealed the truth, they only commented on the size being slightly smaller than Crumbl, but the thickness and icing was on point. Even the texture was super similar. I had no idea to even look for these cookies! 😋

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

SWEET! Those sound incredibly delicious! Thanks for letting us know about this flavor option you found. 🤗💕
