odoban disinfectant in laundry basket

Calling moms of stinky teens!

I love love LOVE my teenagers, but y’all, let’s keep it real, teenagers can be a little stinky at times (that may be the understatement of the year). So, I’m always on the hunt for something that will not only keep my house smelling fresh and clean, but will also kill germs!

That’s where OdoBan Multipurpose Cleaner, Fabric, & Air Refresher saves the day and helps to eliminate odors instantly. Not only does it help with those pesky odors, but it’s also a disinfectant that kills 99.9% of germs including Coronavirus / SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) in just 60 seconds. Whoa! 😲

Think this is a sponsored sales pitch? Think again!

This is not a sponsored post, I’m just sharing my own personal experience with this product and think it’s a great option for cleaning, disinfecting, and odor removal! I truly am a HUGE fan of this product.

spraying armpit of uniform with odoban

A Band Mom Must Have!

We use OdoBan to spray our high school band uniforms (and sometimes shoes) after every football game, band competition, and in between cleanings. OdoBan really helps to kill germs and keeps the odors at bay until it’s time for them to be laundered.

odoban

I like to refer to it as “OdoBand” because it really is a lifesaver for keeping the band uniforms fresh. 🤣 How cute does their little mascot look with a marching band hat on? I’m totally thinking the peeps over at OdoBan could have a winning idea on their hand with this rebrand idea I’ve come up with! 🎺

They’re a Georgia-based company in the Atlanta burbs like me, so I’ll let ya’ll know if they call me up wanting to discuss this amazing idea! You saw it here first! 😉

odoban with hat

I will say when I walk into the band mom office that houses all of the uniforms, the smell does hit you right away and lingers in a room for a while. That being said, the uniforms smell much fresher than they did prior to spraying.

I suggest if you’re spraying a lot of clothing (or band uniforms), that you do like we do and take them outside so they can air out a little bit when you spray. If you’re spraying furniture or using a lot of OdoBan I’d suggest opening your windows so it can air out after spraying.

Where can OdoBan be used? 🤔

OdoBan can be used just about anywhere you have lingering odors and want to freshen up the place. As I mentioned earlier, it’s also a highly effective disinfectant —man I love a good 2-in-1 product! 🙌

There’s no end to its capabilities! Use it on walls, tables, floors, chairs, countertops, bathroom fixtures, sinks, shelves, litter boxes, upholstery, drapes, carpets, bedding, shower curtains, trash cans, car interiors, closets, mattresses… the list goes on and on. It’s also a great fabric and laundry refresher, and OdoBan helps control the growth of mold and mildew.

odoban with washing machine

Freshen up your laundry with OdoBan!

My Hip2Save teammate Stetson likes to add in a little bit of OdoBan to stinky loads of laundry along with regular laundry detergent. He says that there’s no stinky chemical smell when you do it that way.

Where can you buy OdoBan?

I typically grab OdoBan from Home Depot, but you can also grab OdoBan products from Amazon, Walmart, ACE Hardware, and more! It comes in a wide variety of scents including original eucalyptus, fresh linen, lavender, and citrus. OdoBan is available in ready-to-use sprays, odor-absorbing canisters, one-gallon bulk concentrate, and air freshener spray.

For those of you interested in the ingredients, you can find a complete listing of the Odoban specs here. Check out the ingredients to be sure this is something you feel comfortable using in your own home. I love Odoban’s commitment to environmental sustainability, and they’ve even been recognized by the EPA as a safer choice option for home cleaning products.

SWEET! Thanks so much for your recommendation, Ashley! Good to know how great it smells!

  2. Angela

It’s won the EPA green choice award- for safer products. Maybe you should fix that in the post. It’s on their website as part of their commitment to green energy – it’s produced by solar power too. https://www.cleancontrol.com/about-us/our-founder/

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks, Angela! This has been updated!

  3. Megan

YES!! Love this stuff. I pour a splash into all my laundry loads. Takes all the funk out of clothes, sheets, towels, etc. Also great to spray on anything and everything! I buy it at sams. It comes with a gallon jug and a spray bottle for about $10. Great value!

    • Joanna

Do you dilute it when putting it in the wash? I have never thought to use it in that way!

      • Megan

Nope! I just open the cap, splash a bit in directly into the wash, then add clothes.

        • Joanna

That’s awesome, thanks for the tip!

  4. Judi

I love this stuff too! I like the fresh scent one, I use it on SO many things. With an elderly dog, you REALLY need this stuff! 😉

  5. Rachel F.

I once forgot a package of ground turkey in my car and then left for vacation. We live where it gets extremely hot. It was pungent and so strong. I almost puked many times. I had to pick the kids up like that. Hahaha they almost puked. So I asked my friends what to use to help the smell and one or them suggested this. She used to work in crime scenes and clean up bio matter with this. She said it worked well for that and it definitely worked for me too.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh wow! SO glad it worked on that smell!

  6. Elizabeth

Oh no people have caught onto this stuff 😂😂 it’s amazing, I love this stuff, it comes in little spray bottles that I keep in bathrooms for an oder fighter 🤭🤢

  7. Gail Kirk

We have been using this for years at the Animal Shelter i work for. It is safe around the animals and I even started using it in my home, I love it.

  8. ToriSC

Typo alert – A Band Mom Must Have! I think you meant Brand….but hey Bands need moms too

    • ToriSC

On second thought- you must mean for Band equipment…lol. It’s too early.

      • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yes! For band uniforms! No worries! 🤗

  9. ImThatJennay

My husband used to drive for Uber & Lyft and some riders would have accidents or simply leave behind the smell of cigarettes or alcohol and it lingered. He “cleaned” his car several times a week and it still reeked. I bought two of these and it was a night and day difference. Been loyal customers ever since!

  10. Kim Tennyson

But it says non porous surfaces ?

    • Kim Tennyson

And what does it smell like ?

      • Kor

        Eucaliptus

  11. henryjhenry

We use this to clean our home gym!

  12. Joanna

I’ve used this for years for the odor control benefits and never even knew it also disinfects!

  13. bradleykymom

I found this a few years ago and purchase it regularly from Amazon. With a house of four cats and two dogs, it helps with odor on fabric, the laundry, and in the air. I buy it regularly in gallons. It’s a must!!

  14. Tammy

Does anyone know if I can mix this with my regular cleaning chemicals? Like in the same bottle?

    • MrsG

From a science teacher… don’t ever mix cleaning products. Ever.

    • MommySpendsLess

It depends on what’s in them but, unless you’re an expert or have THOROUGHLY researched EVERY ingredient, it’s best to err on the side of caution and avoid mixing them. Chemicals in each product could combine in harmful ways. For example, if you accidentally mixed a product containing bleach with a product containing ammonia it creates toxic chloramine gas.

  15. Mrsyancy

We’ve been using this for years also. House cleaning used this to clean the surgery center I used to work at and I loved the way it smelled, so I asked her about it and have been using it since. Love this stuff.

    • wendyann

      What scent do you prefer?

  16. AmandaJ

Has anyone compared this to Lysol Laundry Disinfectant? Does it work better? Not wildly impressed with Lysol, hasn’t taken out the laundry stinks amazingly like I had hoped, so I’m wondering if this will work better.

Yes I’ve used the OdoBan for many years and I’m a fan of the Lysol Laundry. The key to the Lysol laundry is that it has to have a soak cycle for the proper amount of time; not enough time it won’t work. The Lysol is a miracle worker for urine. If you have a build up of deodorant on the underarms that has to be addressed no matter which product you are using. OdoBan is far more versatile than Lysol laundry but I’m not a fan of the eucalyptus smell of OdoBan. I think they have more scents now though. The Lysol comes in a free and clear version but even the scented versions are very mild. I consider both products musts in my household.

I forgot to say that I am a fan of the Odoban Real Citrus air freshener. The smell is genuinely pleasant and like a real orange. On the can it says “excellent as a toilet pre-spray”. I get it at Dollar General. Sam’s is the cheapest I’ve found the regular liquid Odoban in my area-no Home Depot.

  18. Maggie

Costco sometimes has a combo pack of the jug of Odoban plus a spray bottle. They had lavender scent during the lockdown when all the other disinfecting cleaning products were gone. I honestly don’t love the fake-lavender chemical smell. Be sure to ventilate well when using it — this class of disinfectant (QUAC) triggers bronchial constriction in those with asthma — or who just have sensitive airways (REALLY important if you have kiddos or old folks in the home with breathing issues).

    • Jacy

Glad you mentioned this! I have asthma, so probably best to stay away 🙁

  19. Nee

Wow! Thanks for sharing! I have never heard of this and I enjoy reading the comments from personal testimonies about this! Will get some now!

  20. jodymartinjackson

I was curious which one do you like the smell of the best? I have a cat and puppy as well.

  21. jodymartinjackson

Thank you for sharing. So also curious if I just bought the gallons and put it in spray bottles would be the same as buying their individual bottles and using around the house on furniture, in the air, in the laundry etc. Would you agree?

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

The gallon size is a concentrate so it makes up to 32 gallons. You can buy it and follow the dilution guide when you put it in your spray bottles.

It is a wonderful product but is a disinfectant. Ventilation is important. Don’t spray the liquid in the air. Buy the air freshener spray for the air and don’t overspray. Follow the directions to the tee on the bottle. Saving money is good but healthy lungs, eyes and skin are better. I think you will like the product.

  22. Sara

My mom tried this on an upholstered couch that was left behind by the previous owner of her old house. One of the ladies smoked. Odoban didn’t do a thing for the cigarette smell.

  23. llc

I guess I’m the only person that hates the smell of this stuff. I gave away my jug I just couldnt handle it. I use vinegar for cleaning the floor and I have foster dogs (great danes).

  24. BJMeadows

If Odoban doesn’t remove the smell, it is time to burn it. A friend inherited a house trailer with a weird smell. I told him about this and for under $20 the problem was solved.

  25. Lala

Can you just spray it on Surfaces, or do you have to wipe it off as well?

  26. GARDENEVA

Sam’s Club also has this – buy a gallon and the spray is included WIN! I put it in my rinse cycle. Love this.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      Yay!

  27. Elizabeth L.

I found a small 4oz. spray bottle at Dollar General for a buck. I use it to spray in the arm pit of my son’s shirts when he forgets to use deodorant. This stuff has saved his shirts.
