  • Place an unwrapped Andes mint on top of each cookie as they come out of the oven, while they’re still hot. You could also chop them up into pieces to sprinkle on top.
  • As the warm cookies melt the mints, gently spread the melted candies around using a fork so that they cover the top of each cookie.

OMG, I just made devil’s food with chocolate chips. My 3 boys said these are the best double chocolate chip cookies the have ever had. I just baked them and half are gone! I’m hiding some so my husband can try when he gets home from work. Best day ever!

  13. Kate

I made chocolate chip spice cookies using a box of spice cake mix last week. They were a huge hit! Everyone loved them!

  14. Carrie

So, mine didn’t get flat. They stayed in ball shapes. They were good, but I was hoping for flat. Any idea what would cause that?

    • Irene (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Carrie! You may need to add more liquid. One of the most common reasons why cookies didn’t spread out in the oven is because too much flour has been added. In this case, cake mix. Cookies rely on the perfect ratio of butter to flour in order to spread just the right amount when baked. Good luck!

  15. Joni

Aarg, making them now. Does anyone know salted or unsalted butter. Usually in baking the default is unsalted, so I’ll probably go with that.
