chili lime watermelon with lime yogurt dip

Do you love fresh watermelon like me? 🍉

Watermelon is one of my favorite snacks, especially in the warmer summer months. Today I’m sharing a fun and easy summer snack: chili watermelon fries! All you do is toss watermelon with chili powder and lime. It may seem odd at first, but trust me – it’s a yummy savory and sweet combination!

I’ve had similar chili lime mangos (popular in Mexico) served on a stick. It’s delicious, so I knew I’d love this, too!  Plus serving watermelon dippers in the shape of a french fry is a fun idea in itself.

Hip Tips:
  • For the lime taste, I had a shaker bottle of True lime crystalized lime, and it works out perfectly for this idea. It’s great stuff that comes in handy to season sauces, rice, and meat for grilling. You can alternatively use fresh lime juice and zest.
  • Customize the amount of chili powder and add more if you like spicier. My kids were eating this snack so I didn’t add much, but I may add more next time for myself!
  • For a fun and refreshing dipping sauce, add honey and chili powder to some lime-flavored yogurt. It’s yummy, creamy, and kids love to dip fruit and veggies!

One in a melon sweet and savory snack!

We really enjoyed these bright flavors all together. It’s such a YUMMY way to serve watermelon and is perfect for entertaining by the pool or outside.

Speaking of pool, we started off the summer with a pool party, and this watermelon beach ball is so much bigger and nicer than I thought! LOL My kids had fun playing with it this weekend, so I had to share (it looks good enough to eat, but please don’t slice it into fries). 🍉

Yes, I just saw this on either Instagram or Pinterest and I almost bought some the other day. Too scared to try cuz I just like old fashioned salt on my watermelon 🍉

Skip all those ingredients, go to Walmart/Aldi and grab a “Tajin” bottle at the hispanic aisle! 😋 .. It isn’t too spicy, even my 3 YO likes it.

I do this w/ mango instead of watermelon, and I just use Tajin…no yogurt dip. Perfect summer treat!

    • lydia

I came here to say the exact thing! LOL
This is sooooo good on mango (especially green, slightly unripened mango) without the yogurt. Yum!

      • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yum yes I’ve had that in Mexico and it’s great! Thanks for sharing ❤️

We always put chamoy and trechas on our fruit. Here in McAllen, Texas (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)

Try ground cumin, lime and salt if any of you’re not keen on chili 🌶
