80s Kids, Remember These? English Muffin Pizzas Are Back!
English muffin pizzas are the best inexpensive, no-fuss, and nostalgic 80s meal that still hits!
English muffins make a great foundation for an easy pizza.
Remember those after-school snacks where you’d slap some sauce and cheese on a halved English muffin and pop it in the toaster oven? English muffin pizzas are making a comeback because they make for an easy, cheap dinner that’s highly customizable and delicious.
I love that English muffins can easily be frozen to always have on hand! Use different varieties of leftover cheese, sauces, meats, and veggies from the fridge for a super-easy and delicious meal or snack.
These mini pizzas are perfect when you need something quick, cheap, and satisfying. For under $10, you can feed a small crew. Just grab a pack of English muffins (around $4), a jar of pizza sauce ($2 or less), and some shredded cheese (usually $2 for a small bag). That’s your base—but the real fun starts when you raid your fridge for toppings.
Learning how to make English muffin pizzas with odds and ends is smart!
Think pepperoni slices, leftover veggies, or that half-used can of olives you’ve been ignoring. Toss them on, bake for about 15 minutes until bubbly and golden. You’ll get these personal pizzas with a crunchy, chewy base that’s way more satisfying than most frozen pizza options.

Check out this elevated caprese English muffin pizza recipe idea!
This Caprese version of English muffin pizza is just like the popular salad, except melted to perfection into the form of a tiny pizza. YUM! Try using sliced fresh mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar at the end.
These are so good! I’ve also made a whole pizza this way, and it’s fantastic. I think sun-dried tomatoes and olives would be yummy too. I love easy, no-fuss meals like this and hope you do too!
Thanks for the recipe Lina. Do you have videos too for your recipes?
Thanks
Cool idea. I just happen to buy 6 packs yesterday
Can’t wait to try! Sounds super yummy. Thanks for sharing!
Yum
I might drizzle pesto over this instead of just using basil. What a fun idea! I use English muffins for a make your own pizza night for my boys, and it’s always a blast!
Yes! Yum
Pita bread works just as good!
i use pita breads all the time to make personal size pizzas..
Good idea!
I think some feta would go yummy with this too!
Thanks, Lina! These will make for a quick dinner prep. They look yummy!!!!
We lived on English muffin pizzas growing up.
Brings back fond memories of making English muffin pizzas in the toaster oven at my grandparents’ house (with white American cheese and tomato paste). What a fancy update, Lina!
Yum I need to try this. Your holiday ham sandwich recipe was awesome. I have been making tuna melts for years this way by mixing tuna with mayo, pickle, and red onion chopped up and putting it on the muffins with some melted cheese on top and I often add seasoning like garlic powder or the Trader Joe’s seasoning as well. Too yummy!
We love these when we go camping! I love also using naan bread for pizzas you can get super cheap at Aldi. It is also very delicious with sliced apple, arugula (lightly tossed in a little olive oil-honey-and dijon mustard),and goat cheese.
one tip…toast the english muffin first!
I agree!!!
But oh my goodness – I am so hungry and this looks SOOOO good 🙂
Good tip!
Yummy! I make english muffin pizzas and use tomatoe paste (season a bit) and cheese. The kids like to make faces with the toppings. So much fun. They are really yummy cold and great for the kids school lunches or snack.
Perfect ” kid size” pizzas! I love this for a school night. After all the heavy holiday cooking I just want easy, quick, and light meals for through the week, thanks Lina!
Yes and i agree! Thanks Jennifer!
My husband makes a dessert by putting peanut butter, cinnamon and sugar on English muffins.
Oh yum
Even though I don’t much care for peanut butter, the Planter’s Nut-rition peanut butter was amazing! (We tried the one with the granola and raisins and cinnamon in it when they first came out and were free with RR @Walgreens, but it’s a smaller jar and higher price–not particularly affordable–so I tried to recreate it at home.)
OH LINA!! I have been waiting for EVER for you to be featured again! I just adore your recipes. Collin needs to have you on more.
Oh thanks for your kindness! I’m working on lots of new content coming soon! 🙂
I love your recipes!! Thank you!
Thanks Emilie!
Thank you. I’m going to use this with bagels tonight.
That looks gourmet and so appetizing. Thanks for sharing.
I bake my English muffin pizzas in the toaster oven. Why heat up the entire oven, when the toaster oven is warm and ready in minutes?!?! My second batch usually only needs 5 minutes to warm and melt the cheese.
I usually use spaghetti sauce to make my “pizza-bread” because there’s usually an open jar in the fridge and it’s already well seasoned! My kids LOVE “pizza bread” so much they’ll eat 2-3 times as much for lunch when it’s on the menu (as compared with a regular sandwich).
I do something very similar when I crave bruschetta just add a little minced garlic….sooo yummy, easy and quick.
We love this try making them with nutella, marshmallo and banana.
this recipe turned out just awesome! sooo yumm!
Thank you!
Oh my gosh, Lina. I officially love everything you come up with. We made these last night for dinner and they were a HUGE hit. Thank you for sharing!
Oh hooray, love outcomes like that! Thanks for sharing.
We also like to make pizza bagels. We will buy a dozen bagels and slice them and freeze so we can easily pull out of the freezer on a night we don’t know what we want.
Love the idea of freezing a bunch ahead of time so you always have some handy for a yummy meal! 🍕🥯
Yummy, I love these!!
We ate a ton of these as kids – I wondered when they might make a reappearance! They were easy (we could make them ourselves) and delicious, and your updates on toppings look great. I’m glad you shared this:)
Oh glad you loved this one Michele! Thanks for stopping by. ❤️
