Cheesy-filled sliders with ham on King's Hawaiian rolls make for the perfect party snack or appetizers. Makes 24 small sliders.
Ingredients
- 1 pound thinly sliced deli ham, or spiral cut ham
- 12 slices or 1 pound sliced Swiss cheese
- 24 soft mini dinner rolls, such as King's Hawaiian brand
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire
- 1 and 1/2 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
Directions
1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2
Grease a 9Ć13 inch baking pan or line with nonstick foil or parchment paper.
3
Cut the rolls in half horizontally creating a top and bottom layer for sandwiches. I didnāt even separate the rolls before cutting ā I just cut the whole pack in half.
4
Layer the ham first and then the cheese. Put the top of the rolls back on.
5
Whisk butter, mustard, poppy seeds, minced onion, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour mixture over the tops of sandwiches.
6
Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes until cheese is melted and slightly brown.
7
To serve, cut with a spatula or knife. Serves 12 with 2 mini sandwiches each.

This is a must-make recipe idea that won’t disappoint!
I have served these with a few different meat and cheese combos, and they never last long! I love how they come out kinda buttery crisp around the edges, yet soft and cheesy in the middle. My kids love these mini sandwiches, and I love how easy they are to make. Enjoy!
Have any leftover ham or prime rib? Party sliders are a great option.
After a family party, I was looking for an easy way to use leftovers from a Honey Baked ham and roasted prime rib. I made a batch of Honey Baked ham and cheese sandwiches following this recipe, and then also made a batch with thinly sliced prime rib and provolone cheese. They were a big hit and so yummy!

I’ve made these before and they are AWESOME! They are nice to prep the night before, refrigerate overnight, and pop in the oven-great for Christmas day.
My family makes something like this for party’s. And they are delicious!
These are one of my favorites to make for parties! Just made 48 of them for a teen party this past Sunday and they were gone in minutes. My favorite cheese to use is Havarti!
these look delicious…might have to give them a try
This might be just what I needed. My son graduates in May and I don’t want to do hotdogs and brats. This would be easy to throw in the oven. Plus with over 100 people it should not be to expensive if I can find some ham on sale after Christmas and start stocking up on the cheese now and freeze them. I might even be able to find clearance buns after Christmas and freeze them as well.
Great idea!
Aldi always has the rolls cheaper than any other store.
Agree! Aldi has all the ingredients including the Hawaiian rolls for a fraction of the cost and ALL of the YUM!
I’ve used aldi’s brioche rolls for this recipe and they were soo yummy! Also didn’t have poppy seeds on hand so I used chia seeds and they were great!
I LOVE the Taste of Home version of these sandwiches…uses chive/onion cream cheese instead of mustard. They’re called Sassy Tailgate Sandwiches. So good!
Good idea!
I use the chive/onion cream cheese along with the mustard also and these are AMAZING! Never had anyone not like them. Thanks Lina and Merry Christmas!
Hi Amanda,
Do you still bake them with the cream cheese? Thanks!
We make these and also try some different variations…this past weekend our Buffalo Chicken ones were a hit…we used sliced chicken…provolone, sprinkled with blue cheese crumbles, and the sauce has franks red hot and a dry blue cheese…it is a great snack all day kind of meal…
Wow! Yum.
love all the variations too!
These are scrumptious! š
I made these for a baby shower once and they were so popular! I think I’ll make them Christmas night with the leftover ham from Christmas lunch š
I am definitely making these on Saturday.
These are so awesome! They are easy and so yummy.
Perfect idea for leftover Christmas ham and the “what to serve for New Years”!!! I love the idea of this recipe. Thanks so much for sharing!
Wondering if the rolls stay soft when baking that long?
They are super soft and gooey inside and a little crusty around the outside. So good.
Thanks for responding. Need to try this one!
I also noticed the recipe says dried minced onion and then the instructions say onion powder. Can you use either one?
Thanks Kim – i actually did use a little onion powder bc i didnt have flakes and it was good. You could use either I’m sure. I will fix post.
Tried today with onion powder and it was delicious! Thanks so much for the great recipe. I used Franz Hawaiian rolls because they were a bit cheaper.
i want to lick that cheese ozing out the side!
This sounds amazing since I’m addicted to those ham and cheese croissants from local doughnut shops!!
Thanks for posting this…kind of ironic I mentioned them to my mom the other day and said I wished I could find the recipe since I moved, I couldn’t find it. Collin to the rescue! You are so good you are a mind reader! š
Also, I have used Boar’s Head honey glazed chicken deli meat!!!!Absolutely, the best.
I’ve had these before and they are delicious. I had lost the recipe …thank you
My nephew always wants me to make these along with the slaw recipe here…https://m.allrecipes.com/recipe/187963/chinese-broccoli-slaw/
They’re great together for a meal!
We call these “ham delights”. Slight variation in ingredients. They are delicious!
I use hot dog buns. I cut then into 3 pieces. With all of that butter, they are still good and much cheaper to make.
These sound awesome! Will definitely try them over the holidays! Happy Holidays to all and thanks Collin for all you do!
Good with turkey and mozzarella too for non ham eaters.
These are SUPER yummy, and you can make your own variations by changing out the meats and cheeses. Next time I make them I want to try the hawaiian rolls. I always make two huge trays (it’s 4 packages of buns) some with turkey/ham/chicken and cheese and some with a vegetarian lunch meat and cheese. There are a few leftovers but they are always gone the next day. I do not use the poppy seeds.
We have family from out of town and I made these to eat with leftover ham today and it was a huge hit. Thanks for the idea!!!
Thanks so much for this idea!! I made these with Swiss Cheese, Hawaiian Rolls and added pineapple slices! They were a huge hit! Doing it again for Superbowl this weekend! :o) Im hungry already!!
Wow that sounds great!
Awesome super bowl food! So glad we tried them.
Made these for my family for the Super Bowl today and they were AWESOME! We absolutely loved them! I used Muenster instead of Swiss as 2 don’t like the Swiss and they were ooey and gooey and just delish! Thanks for the recipe!
Wonderful news! Thanks
Made this for a playoff party last weekend and they were a huge hit! Making a double batch today!! I think the ingredient list is incorrect though as it says to use 1 Tablespoon dried minced onion, yet in the directions, it says to mix with onion powder. Those are 2 totally different things, so I went with the powder. Just didn’t want someone else confused.
I don’t have any Dijon mustard, can I substitute anything else?
I actually use honey mustard. My family is not a fan of dijon.
I normally use dried mustard and mix it in with the butter, minced onion and Worcestershire sauce.
Iāve made them successfully with regular yellow prepared mustard.
We make these every Christmas. Have also done these with turkey and cheese, sloppy joe and american cheese, and a friend is trying them with a reuben filling. Always a hit.
These are also called Funeral Sandwiches. So yummy and great for a crowd.
Thank you! Perfect timing finding this post! I Just popped these into the oven. I had a bunch of Hawaiian rolls I needed to use. I added cream cheese to the inside top of each bun and used regular mustard since we donāt have Dijon.
We love these sandwiches!! We use honey ham and smoked provolone cheese. So, so good!!
Oh Yum! I’m glad you enjoyed <3
You read my mind.. I was looking these up to make at my husbands big 50th luau party and Great news you can prep ahead and pop them in the oven the day of! Now Iām sold that this is what I need to serve; Hawaiian ham and cheese sandwiches!š„³šš
Reading the comments, some were from 2014 ! These are super easy and delicious!!
Made these last spring and realized while making them that I didnāt have minced onion. I used Everything but the Bagel. Wonāt make them without it again! Game changer!
I’m making both ham and chicken sliders. Thanks for sharing.
Yum! Thanks for sharing ā¤ļø
Hi! These are awesome sandwiches! Last time I made with Boarās Head deli tavern ham and smoked Gouda from the deli. They were amazing!!
Wow! That sounds perfect š thanks Kathy!
Been making these since I found this recipe many years ago here on H2S! Thank you all for enriching my life in so many areas š
Oh yay! Thanks for sharing ā¤ļø
What if your family hates mustard and worstershire?
Maybe just skip those and add a little garlic powder.
Made these today and they are great!! Can’t wait to make them again š
oh nice! Thanks for sharing Shelby!
Awesome! Made this recipe today with some leftover ham I cooked for dinner yesterday. Everyone in the family loved it.
Oh hooray!! Iām so glad and thanks for sharing š
I have made these before. Great for a party; especially for a sports-watching getty. I like to experiment with different kinds of cheeses and/or condiments. I might sprinkle some garlic powder or oregano on the inside.
Something I also add Laughing Cow spreadable cheese instead of sliced cheese. Since they have so many flavors it’s always a different flavor adventure!
Ohhh I like that! Great idea – thanks!
We did these and turkey ones with a side of potato salad yesterday. Easy Sunday dinner and everyone enjoyed it!
Oh yay!! Thanks for sharing š
One of the mamas from our playdate group made these for a playdate she hosted a couple of weeks ago and I loved them. I must say that I am extremely picky with foods and the only ingredients I like from this recipe are ham & hawaiian rolls but I loved the whole combo (except cheese which I removed before eating). Very good. Looking forward to making these myself.
Oh good!! Thanks for sharing!
I make these all the time! I like to spread laughing cow cheese under the buns for an extra bit of yum! They taste great reheated but we hardly have leftovers even in our family of 3!
I can’t wait to try these. Yum! Thanks.
Sure! Yep, these rock! Enjoy š
Yum, we make these but we do Cuban sliders. So good. Walmart has a Cuban mustard that is delish.
Ohhh yum! Thanks for sharing!
