Nutella is always a good idea! 🤤

A mug cake is a quick and easy treat to whip up when your sweet tooth is craving something extra delicious but you don’t want to hassle of making an entire batch and waiting for it to bake in the oven.

Lately, we’ve been sharing some of the latest viral recipes, and all of them have had us wondering how we ever lived our entire lives without them before…

…and 3-ingredient Nutella mug cake is no exception!

While there are many delicious and easy desserts you can make in a mug like 3-ingredient crème brulée or even just a 2-ingredient oreo mug cake, this recipe is mixing up the Nutella game ever since we saw it on biggerbolderbaking.com and it’s sure to hit the spot.

And did I mention this mug cake recipe only requires 3 simple ingredients?! 😱

jar of nutella, bag of flour, and one egg

Making this Nutella mug cake is as easy as it is delicious. First, you’ll mix your wet ingredients (egg and Nutella) together. You can use a small whisk or even just a fork or spoon if you’re really limiting the messy dishes.

Next comes the final ingredient – flour! Again, you can use a small whisk or a fork. Once your batter is silky smooth, you’re ready for the microwave. Just about a minute will do, although, Jami from our team said that she added an additional 15 seconds to achieve the consistency that she wanted.

Recipe tips to keep in mind when making Nutella Mug Cake:

  • Cooking times may vary depending on the microwave you have – so for best results, start with 30 seconds and then 15-second intervals after until your desired consistency is achieved.
  • Love the cup & saucer we used? It’s the perfect size for any mug dessert and a set of 4 can be found at World Market.
  • The chocolate flavor is on the lighter side so you can dress it up with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sprinkles to make it a really stand out dessert.
  • To avoid any cake sticking to the mug, you can lightly rub some coconut oil in the cup, however, you shouldn’t experience too much sticking without it.

    Does coconut flour work?

I don’t know what we did wrong, but it was nasty! It was rubbery and didn’t really taste like anything. Hopefully, everyone else has some better luck!😀
