In the past years, Candle Day has always landed on the first Saturday of December. If following the same pattern, this year’s sale will be on December 3rd. We’re breaking down the most recent info and tips Bath and Body Works has given us so far and will be sure to update once we hear more!
What is Candle Day?
The sale infamously features 3-wick candles for around 60% off – as low as $8 – $10.50!! These candles usually go for $26.50, so this sale is the ultimate time to stock up on your favorite scents and potential Christmas gifts. Rewards members usually get early access, so your best bet is to download the app (available for iOS and Android) and sign up! Turn those push notifications on to make sure you don’t miss out.
With the app, you can even scan the candles in-store during the sale and collect tons of points for it! Bath & Body Works also recommends that you start eyeing the new candles, as even the most recent releases are usually part of the big sale.
Plus, Bath & Body Works usually sends out coupons via mail or email around the time of the sale that can be stacked with the sale, making the candles up to 75% off! Last year, readers had coupons for 20% off the entire purchase!

Bath & Body Works sends out various mailer coupons several weeks before Candle Day that often include free product coupons with NO purchase required, $15 off $40 purchase, 20% off, and more!

And, did you know that if you receive a mailer with several coupons attached to the same card, you can use ALL three coupons in one transaction? Yes, it’s true!

It worked for me! You have to be in the reward zip code for it to work, I think if you are trying to place an order outside of it using the code won’t work.

I can’t get the code to work for the sale. Says it’s invalid. Waited in queue over an hour for this.
I was on the site after a hour of waiting, I had 5 candles in my bag went to do the whole check out and returned to complete my order and everything in my bag was gone. Very disappointed.
As any good Hip2Saver would do, it’s good to track this throughout the year in terms of price. When they’re under $10 with coupons, I might buy them versus waiting for candle day. For me, it’s a fun event during the holiday season though. 🙂 I should add, I live close to my mall and I’m in and out it in 30 minutes. I wouldn’t want to go after that! 🙃

Neither promo code worked after I waited an hour in the website cue. I wonder why I received the members email and given a cue line to wait in? I’m going to save more money shopping in the store. Again an Epic FAIL for Bath and Body Works. Last year was nightmare trying to buy candles on line and this year is no different. Been trying to buy candles since the sale started and neither code that I have been given (LOVEIT and BESTDAYEVER) are not working. I have had to get in line three times for it to tell me that the code does not work.
Kroger is having their annual candle sale on their Tuscany 2 wick candle large jars for $6. Great smelling and burn to bottom. Save your money people.

Operation Success at one of my suburban stores. That was exciting to shop with a few other early birds. 23 candles but may take a few back if my hubby doesn’t like the scents I got for him for the first time ever. Sales associate was super nice and helped me out with every scent I asked her to find quickly for me. A+++++

Woohoo! Wrong zip code to join their rewards program so I was worried everything would be sold out by the time I was actually able to purchase. I got 18 candles in the scents I wanted at 5:20AM CT. Super excited to receive my order!

Such a lovely shopping experience! All crates were ready to go, no lines, lots of smiles, full stock. Went after dkids drop-off, no standing outside at 4 am, and used my 20% on top. $8/ea is a win for me! I know there are cheaper candles that have the same scent, but BBW is just my favorite, they have the prettiest jars and decor on the outside, can’t compare. So glad I skipped online shopping/shipping charges and not being able to use my coupon.

My store last year was a 3 HOUR wait. I didn’t NOT wait. This year I drove by thinking I’m not going. Especially with my 5 year old. There was NO line and tons of candles… at noon! Yay!!! Glad I had my 20% coupon too!
I tried to shop online but they were sold out of my regular scent, even at the member early access. So I ended up in store, which actually turned out great! I checked store hours online and they opened at 7am this morning. I was able to get in there and shop in peace, not to mention saved on shipping and was able to use my coupons. I got my candles and was home by 8am! That makes me happy.
Walked right in at 7:30 am – only about 8-10 people-loaded up with everything I wanted and was out in 10 minutes! Easiest candle sale ever!

Went to my small local store around 5:30 pm. There were only about 5 other shoppers and I was able to use my $10 off 40 coupon, free item under $13.50, and free gift bag coupons.
They were very hush hush about it this year. My store wouldn’t even tell me when I directly asked. Got there when they opened and was able to get and out in 10 minutes. My only mistake was not using my free item coupon. A fun morning!
Has anyone received shipment notification from their online orders? I put mine in at 530 yesterday morning so hoping it’s not cancelled
I happened to be in the mall yesterday, without my coupons, and saw an empty store at 2:30 in the afternoon. I went in and bought six candles. Then I drove home, got my coupons and went back. No lines. No wait. Fully stocked both times. The staff was ready and did amazing. Every year I avoid candle day because of the mayhem and crowds. I was so excited to see how they handled the candle day craziness yesterday!
I used Kroger gift card deal ($50 Gift Card for $43) and I had a $10 off $40 and free item with $10 purchase. I got 6 candles and Aroma Stress Relief Mist for $55 (essentially $48 out of pocket with gift card deal). Makes candles $8 or so including tax
Our store opened at 6am. We arrived about 6:45am and no one was there except 4 employees stocking candles! Was nice to have the store to ourselves. Got our 6, used coupon, and out we went!
