From Collin:

“My sister, Marley, decked out my bed for me, and I’ve seriously been LOVING it! I feel like I am sleeping at a hotel in a cloud. LOL! Everything from the sheets, pillows, and bedding she purchased are just so amazing that I need to share this with everyone!”

Here’s a fun fact about what I’m sharing before I jump into the bedding:

When Collin hosted our team retreat last year, she needed to get new bedding for each of the beds that our team would be sleeping in! So Collin (and her sister Marley) decided to do a deep dive and research the best bedding options out there from high-priced to low-priced quality options.

Now, here are the components for the comfiest bed ever that have been tested by the Hip2Save team:

1. Waterproof mattress pad

white waterproof mattress pad in bag

This super soft and luxe mattress pad protects your mattress from spills while also providing an essential layer of coziness for any time of the year. Keep in mind that these mattress pads regularly go on sale, and there are often coupon codes available to save you even more!

“This mattress pad is waterproof but quiet, no rustling noise from [the] plastic cover. It’s very thick and washes and dries fast. It has very deep pockets which are also great! I put it over a brand new mattress and love the added softness.” – Traci ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

2. Soft pillow inserts

A good pillow is essential to a good night’s sleep. These down alternative pillows are just what you need to wake up feeling well-rested each morning.

“I’ve had these pillows for about 2 months now, and I am so in love with them! They are very giving and mold to the shape I need to support my head and neck. I believe they have even helped reduce my husband’s snoring! I highly recommend these pillows to anyone looking for soft, fluffy, and shapeable pillows.” – Kalie ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

3. Luxe sheets

These irresistibly soft sheets will elevate any bed you put them on with their 550 thread count. These soft Supima cotton sheets are also 18″ deep, so they’re going to fit just about any type of mattress!

“I absolutely LOVE these sheets!!! They are SO soft, wash extremely well, and look very luxurious. I thought they felt amazing in their package in the store, but they feel even better after washing them! You can’t go wrong with these sheets!! I bought a set for every room in my house!” – Sophia ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Also, I want to mention a runner-up that many team members rave about – Threadmill Home Linen 800 Thread Count Sheets!

“These sheets 100% live up to the awesome reviews! The deep pockets are the perfect size to fit around my Tempur-Pedic mattress. Plus I love the size of the flat sheet – it gives me lots of extra room on the sides, so my hubby and I are not fighting over the sheets throughout the night. And these sheets seem to get softer with every wash! A big plus, since I wash my bedding at least once or twice per week. If you are ready to refresh your bedding too, you may want to give these a try!” – Bryn from the Hip2Save team

4. Duvet cover and shams

Duvation duvet cover with zipper

This innovative duvet cover is simple yet so luxurious and meets all the needs that your bed needs to get on the “coziest-bed-ever” level. This is definitely a very pricey duvet cover, but Collin’s sister Marley thinks it’s totally worth it! Make sure you don’t forget to scoop up the perfect duvet insert to go with it.

“The Duvation duvet cover is awesome! I was so excited to discover that it has tiny zippers on the left and right sides for easy comforter insertion – which I’ve never seen in any other duvet – and totally sets it apart from all the others. I also think the fabric is so soft. Overall, I’m really impressed with the quality.” – Marley

Great article! Any recommendations on mattresses? Looking for an affordable Queen for my son.

Thank you! Looks like you and Amber both recommend that same mattress! Wish it was still on sale, but I’ll go check camelcamelcamel to see if there’s a cycle.

Thank you! Yes, it would work out perfectly for timing/delivery, too, since we close on our newly built home on Friday (after a loooooong 90 days living in a hotel), but I don’t think I could swing the price right now. I’ll look for something similar!

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

You’re welcome. Congrats on your new home!

We bought a new Serta mattress on Overstock.com. Great prices and free shipping

I was with you until the microfiber sheets (mid range and budget). To me, Jersey are usually pretty comparable price wise to microfiber and WAYYY more comfortable! Microfiber always seems warm to me, and slide off the bed.

  3. Carolyn

I love linen and honestly Target has reasonably priced linen duvet covers by Fieldcrest. I think I got a queen sized one for $80, and as someone who runs hot, it is super comfortable and cooling. Now I just need to find some affordable linen sheets.

    • Amy

I like the brooklinen duvet- it stays cool.

I also love these sheets from amazon- inexpensive and 21 inch deep pockets.

Anyone have any suggestions for a firmmer mattress brand? I always sink into memory foam.

  5. Jennifer

Do I really need a mattress pad?

    • Jessica (Hip' Sidekick)

Hi Jennifer! I would say it depends on the person. I like to have one because I think it makes my oldish mattress feel softer without having to buy a new mattress.

    • Wren

My mom ALWAYS used mattress pads and now I do the same. We were at my MIL’s house the other day and slept overnight, and she did not have a mattress pad on the bed which I thought was so weird. Do people NOT use mattress pads? 🤪 Maybe I’m the weird one!
      Love this post, H2S!

    • Joelle

When I bought a new king sized mattress for over $2,000 I absolutely wanted to protect it with a mattress pad. I got one from Sam’s club and put it on. It was crinkly like plastic. I took it off, and naturally I spilled coffee and my toddler peed on it. So do some homework now before it is too late.

I brought my duvets and covers from Germany to the states with me. My mother sends me new sheets every few years. I love them. As soon as I get my insurance settlement I will be buying some new full size mattresses. I hope to find some deals by then here. LOL

    • Jessica (Hip' Sidekick)

Yes! be sure to check back here as we post mattress deals often!

  7. justme

My absolute favorite sheets are the Hotel Style Brand at Walmart. They fit well and wash well. I’ve had a set for almost a year and when they wear out I’ll definitely be getting more.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh awesome! Thanks so much for the recommendation! I’ll have to look for those!

  8. Fabbie P.

I have a favor to ask. I love the wall color in the first picture! does anyone now the name of that tone and where can I buy it? TIA.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

SO sorry, Fabbie P. We aren’t sure on the paint color.

  9. Debbie

Does Linens & Hutch have any good deals on sheets this month?

  10. Julie T

Several links are broken now. You should update the post.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks! We are getting those updated.
