Have you used the amazing Kroger grocery pickup service yet?

Many retailers began offering curbside pickup during the coronavirus pandemic, and we’ve become especially big fans of this grocery shopping method at Kroger. Previously called “Kroger Clicklist,” Kroger Grocery Pickup is one of the few curbside services at major retailers that will allow you to use your paper coupons, so you’ll save both time and money!

New to Kroger Grocery Pickup?

If you’ve ever used a service like Instacart for grocery pickup, you know that you may pay more for your groceries due to markups. With Kroger Grocery Pickup, every item is priced the same whether you place your order online or shop inside the store.

Plus, grocery pickup is FREE on orders of $35 or more, and Kroger store employees do not accept tips, so it truly won’t cost you a penny more to shop this way! 🙌

Even better, Kroger accepts manufacturer’s coupons when you shop online! Just bring them with you when you come to pick up your groceries, and they’ll be deducted from your order.

Speaking of coupons, be sure to load Kroger’s digital coupons to your account from Kroger’s Digital Coupon page or the store’s mobile app. You can also use these to save money on your grocery pickup order! Just keep in mind that you cannot stack a digital store coupon with a manufacturer’s coupon.

Kroger Grocery Pickup also accepts SNAP benefits, so you can pay with an EBT card right from your car, too!

How does Kroger Grocery Pickup work?

  1. Choose your preferred store location on Kroger.com or in the Kroger app.
  2. Select your items and clip any applicable digital coupons. Note that Kroger’s digital coupons won’t be deducted from your total until you pick up your groceries.
  3. Choose a pickup date and a payment method at checkout.
  4. A Kroger associate will fulfill your order. If one of the items you ordered is out of stock, they will replace it with a similar or better product for the original (or lower) price.
  5. When it’s time to pick up your groceries, use the app to let the store know you’re on your way, and pull into one of the store’s designated pickup spots.
  6. Check-in on the app or call the number on the sign to let an associate know you’ve arrived.
  7. An associate will bring your order out, give you a chance to approve or decline their substitutions, and load your groceries into your car.
  8. At this time, you can hand over any paper coupons you have. The associate will take the coupons into the store, scan them, and come back with a revised receipt.
  9. If you’re paying with an EBT card, you’ll complete your transaction via a mobile point-of-sale system.

Note that this Kroger Grocery Pickup process is the same for other Kroger affiliates, including Fred Meyer, Ralph’s, and Smith’s.

One thing to keep in mind when placing a Kroger grocery pickup order is that the store’s new weekly ad goes live every Wednesday and your pickup order’s pricing is finalized when you pick up your order, not when you place it.

So if you place an order on Tuesday for pickup on Wednesday, make sure that you’re shopping the sales from the following week’s flyer for the lowest prices.

Fyi, if u use snap to pay for food items you don’t get a physical receipt. Otherwise I love this service

      Thanks for the helpful warning!

    • Winwood40

Your receipt is available on the App. Open the App, click on the 3 lines upper right corner, select my purchases, select the one you want, then click receipt in the upper right corner.

Thanks for this info. I wish I could somehow move the pdf straight to ibotta. Right now, I have to print the receipt out…using lots of paper.

        • IrishND98

You can link your Ibotta and Kroger accounts so you don’t need the receipt

I didn’t know you could use paper coupons for pick up. This is a game changer for me! Thank you for sharing!

    • Winwood40

I have worked for Kroger for 34 years. Clicklist or Pickup is my current department. The attendants take paper coupons at carside. They should be asking for them every time they approach you.

I prefer kroger pickup over instacart because the employees are actually trained in how to choose good produce and they want to keep you as a customer. With instacart, a third party picks your order and they’ve always seemed to care less about picking good produce because they would rather complete more orders overall to increase personal profit.

FYI for all you super savers, there will be a pending charge for your grocery total on your account that is higher than what you will actually pay. Give it a day and it sorts itself out to the amount you actually paid after sale prices, special 2for1 deals, buy five get $1 off, coupons, etc. I love Kroger Pickup. There have been a few hiccups here and there… but overall a very positive experience.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks a bunch for the helpful warning, Jenny! Good to know!

I have been doing Kroger pickup for a few months now, and except for 1 single item, everything in my order is correct every time. If they are out of stock, I get a text with a link to review substitute items and accept or reject them before I even go to pick up. They also pick great produce…I have been so impressed! If you order a day or more ahead of time, you can edit your order as much as you want up until midnight the day before your pickup. I love this feature because I constantly add and remove items lol

I love my Kroger pickup here in North Texas! Great friendly employees, and I always get a text when something is out of stock. I get receipts and they take my paper coupons. I also tip, my Kroger seems to be extremely busy.

I love the Kroger pickup! I’m my area the Kroger affiliate store is Smiths. I have a son with autism and in store shopping with him is not possible any more. I used to use the service before Covid, and now without the fee, I use it even more. They are always super nice, pick excellent produce, bag well, and are fast. This service makes my life easier.

  8. Jacy

Thanks H2S!! Smith’s Grocery pick-up definitely can be awesome. One thing to remember though….. if you are doing “Buy 5, save $5” deals, and they end up not having something, you do not get the discounted price on the other things. Make sense? I learned this the hard way 😉

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

You’re welcome, Jacy! Thanks for the warning!

    • Susie

Yes! I usually try to get at least 6 or 7 things just in case. I do like that it’s $5 off 5 or more things instead of having to do multiples of 5 😊

      • Tammy

They have been good about letting me return those < 5 items and get other items to bring # of items to at least 5 to get the $1 off an item. I do have to go into the store to do that and do that another day. I usually have a few items I want to get and still save time from doing all the shopping myself.

  9. Charlene

If you do the pick up you can’t use ebt food card because you have to checkout before you get to store and they don’t have checkout for ebt online.

    • JM1130

Hey! I know this is an old comment, but just wanted to give a heads up to anyone using ebt. You can still use it for your pickup orders. Just make sure to bring it with you. They’ll run it when you pick up on a handheld device.

  10. LaDonna

My chase credit card has also been having an extra 10% kroger pickup special offer the last couple months 🙂

  11. Pamela

Love to use their Click List to place and pick up my groceries order which I did today since I am sick with sore throat & coughs, the workers know me well to put my orders in my reusable bags at my request!!

  12. Liz

Don’t forget to scan the QR code in the weekly ad to be able to the clip the coupon for $25 Kroger gift card wyb $100 worth of P&G products. Gift Card delivered via email.
