We’re watching Costco for the return of its easy and affordable Thanksgiving meals.

  1. Des

We have ordered from Marie Calendar’s before and it was amazing.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Awesome! Good to know how yummy it was, Des! Thanks for sharing!

    • LaurieG

If in Louisiana “Rouses” is the best. It REALLY taste like it was made in a Cajuns kitchen. This is from a really good Cajun cook! The portions are good, a little pricy however if you were to purchase everything to make a meal like what you get you would pay 3X’s that and spend a few days cooking. The seafood dishes are really amazing!!

  2. rusheajj5

Sorry to say but, we ordered from Cracker Barrel last year and it was horrible. Anxious to try a different place this year.

    • Jamie

We ordered it from Cracker Barrel a couple of years ago and will never make that mistake again. It was awful.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh darn! Hoping this year will work out better for you! Thanks for the honest comment.

  3. IB

    Anyone tried Publix?

    • Jessa

Publix is good. I used to work there & its ridiculously popular so imagine that IS good. 😊 I’ve eaten all their (yummy) food separately so i would order it in a heartbeat.

    • Kristin

Yes! We had it last year and it was amazing, packaged well, and easy to heat up.

  4. Rebekah

    Has anyone tried sprouts?

  5. Amanda L

Sprouts grocery store has an amazing Thanksgiving pre-made meal set that you order on there website and it’s a really decent price. You can start ordering next week! My sister has been making sure I put in our order for this year because it was so good last year!

    • Rebekah

Thank you! I had planned to try it this year, glad for some good feedback!

  6. Jessa

Some of them are so pricey. I guess things are different now but when i was small part of the fun of Thanksgiving was the cooking, different family members specialties (or duds) and all waiting for dinner. I did one of them when i was in college (Boston Market) and it was such a let down and all of us friends thought it was just yucky overpriced takeout. Learned my lesson and missed the typical ambiance.

  7. Kristin

My family ordered from Publix last year and it was delicious, packaged well, and easy to heat up. We’re doing it again this year!

  8. Shoppingfan

If in most parts of Texas, H-E-B will also have dinners available for families of 4 and 8. Ordering starts Nov 1. Details available at H‑E‑B.com/deli on Nov 1

    • lindak

HEB is coming to N Texas. Yeah!

      • Rebekah

Now can we please get HEB in El Paso😩

  9. Lacey

Any ideas for vegetarian thanks giving meal? I committed to hosting and it will be challenging with 4 month old..

    • TS

Trader Joe’s has a vegetarian “roast” available in the freezer section. That would be an easy vege alternative. My daughters are vegetarian so I understand how challenging it can be. With many convenience foods (e.g., premade mashed potatoes, stuffing mixes), you have to read the ingredients to make sure that they don’t contain chicken broth or other meat products.

    • TS

Also, Wholefoods has some vegan options for Thanksgiving.

    • Mona

I’ve order twice from Whole Foods, part of my family is vegan. You can do a la cart or, order a full family meal. It was very well done, lots of food and tasted amazing. I’ll do it again, this Thanksgiving.

    • Elizabeth Griffin

Whole Foods has a vegan meal that is delicious!

    • ahipster

Picked up 4 trader Joe’s meatless roasts for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Do it every year and leftovers are gone by the next day. They also have a small meatless roast that I only saw come out this year and it’s $5.99 vs. $12.99 for the large roast.

  10. Lori

We get it from Cracker Barrel every year and it is so good!

  11. Amanda D.

We got Cracker Barrel last year & ours was delicious! Gotta love getting to enjoy the day with my family & not spending it slaving away in the kitchen just to watch my kid only eat a roll & then have a big mess to clean up after! We also got a PF Chang’s family feast for Christmas Eve dinner & everybody still talks about how great that was (plus there were leftovers the next day for lunch!).

  12. Heather

Has anyone tried Bob Evans? Previously I’ve ordered Kroger’s and it was terrible. This year I want to get Bob Evans (it’s really the only local option) but don’t want a repeat of 2019.

    • marymariebrown

Bob Evans is the best, I’ve done their Thanksgiving Feast a few times. Definitely worth the cost, plenty of food and delicious every time.

  13. Kate

We’ve done Bob Evans the past few years, and we’ve all liked it!

  14. Hipgrandma

Meijer has a good meal too

  15. Andrea U

In Southern California, Polly Pie’s is great!

  16. TS

I’m trying to send a pecan pie to my parents in Florida. Any ideas how to get a good pecan pie delivered that isn’t $30 plus delivery fees?

    • Wendy

Whereabouts in Florida? You may be able to order a whole pie from a local restaurant or bakery and then have Uber / Lyft pickup and deliver to your parents. Might save a few $.

    • Lana

If they can pick it up, I have ordered birthday cakes for my parents and prepaid for them at Publix. All they had to do was stop by the bakery and pick up the cake. This would be really convenient if they shop there anyway.

    • TS

They live in a nursing home a little bit West of Orlando. They cannot do pick up. My mom loves pecan pie and I try to send some every year. I sent from Bob Evans last year but it isn’t available this year.

        • TS

          Thanks!

      • Laurie Villotta

Call the nursing home and see if a staff member could pick one up for you. Just call and pay for it. Call Uber eats and they will pick it up and deliver. I work in LTC and we have done this for many residents.

  17. Mercy

Fresh Market has a few options and they are really good! Got it last year and planning on doing the same this year!

  18. Dorothy

There’s also La Madeleine. We ordered from them last year and it was fabulous. Plus there’s the option to add any of their fabulous desserts or breads.

  19. Amy

If you live near a Lucille’s BBQ restaurant, their Thanksgiving turkey is incredible. Unfortunately, it’s also incredibly expensive so I was only able to afford it one year (just the turkey… I made the sides), and my father in law still remembers how much he loved it.

    • riss

I didn’t know Lucille’s do turkey. We have one near us, like about a mile. But now I’m scared to look at the price 🤣

  20. IB

Anyone tried Honeybaked Ham for their entire Thanksgiving dinner? Their package looks good.

  21. tim

Safeway does a great turkey dinner this year and 79.00 comes with the usual stuff well worth the money.

  22. justme

Also just to throw out there if anyone doesn’t want to do the whole turkey you can get a 3 lb boneless turkey breast and make this recipe. https://butterwithasideofbread.com/easy-slow-cooker-turkey-breast/ With some stuffing, green bean casserole, baked sweet potatoes, rolls etc… you have a Thanksgiving dinner and I promise you it is an AMAZING turkey

    • Rachel

That looks so good and right up my alley. Thanks for sharing this!!!

  23. gentledogwalker

I was in Costco last night and I saw a turkey breast in the cold section that look like it came with cranberry somehow within the package. Look like a turkey breast may be rolled with cranberries? It was $21.99. I might buy that and then make all the fixings on the side myself

    • Michelle B

I have been calling my local Costco for the last two weeks and apparently next week they are going to get the Thanksgiving meal in. That has the meat, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans and cranberry sauce and it’s in one package priced by the pound for the whole thing. It was so good last year I got two.

  24. Venessa

Does anyone know if any places sell a whole cooked turkey for the Sunday after thanksgiving? I’m hosting this year and that’s the best day for my family.

    • Jessica

Honey Baked Ham has pre-cooked turkey that is frozen with instructions on how to heat before you need it. You could pick one up before Thanksgiving and then wait to use it.

      • Jessica

        Refrigerate upon Receipt
As soon as you receive your whole turkey, remove the meat from the cooler and refrigerate. Takes approximately 48-96 hours to thaw in the refrigerator. Once thawed, your whole turkey will stay fresh for 5 to 7 days in the refrigerator.

        Heating Instructions
Our whole turkeys are fully cooked and ready to enjoy. From thawed, take the turkey out of the refrigerator and remove from bag. Place in a roasting pan breast side up then loosely cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 1/2 – 2 hours or until warm. Carve, serve and refrigerate unused portions immediately.

From frozen, preheat over to 350°. Remove turkey from bag and place in roasting pan breast side up then loosely cover with aluminum foil and bake for 4 – 4 1/2 hours or until warm. Carve, serve and refrigerate unused portions immediately.

        Store for Future Use
The whole turkey can be frozen up 12 weeks for future use. To freeze a turkey upon receipt, leave it in the packaging and insulated bag it arrived in, and place in the coldest part of your freezer.

  25. Venessa

    Thank you!

I did order 1 from Honey Baked Ham. The employee I ordered through said they come pre-thawed, so I’d only need to refrigerate until I’m ready to cook.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Wahoo! So glad you got one, Venessa!

  26. SavingsMama

All our family does is argue during the meal prep of traditional Thanksgiving cooking. It’s sad but true…everyone is somehow lazy and this person or that person has to do this and that etc. This year we are trying a meal solution like these, just heat it up and praying for peace in the kitchen this year!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Good luck! I hope it works, SavingsMama!

    • LaurieG

Not sure where you are from but if they have an independent or local place that cooks your cuisine is probably a better solution that a national chain. Just Food for advice!

    • No drama please

Then everyone needs to stay home on Thanksgiving and bring leftovers or snacks to the weekend football gathering.

  27. Pamela

Mimi’s Cafe is in our area and they have delicious Turkey meal for a decent price as well. Most grocery stores here are sold out of preorders already.
