If you’re looking for an easy summer craft idea to celebrate the 4th of July, check out this cute method to paint fireworks using drinking straws! Perfect for the kiddos, you probably already have all the supplies needed to make an inspiring masterpiece at home.
–Red and Blue Craft Paint
–Plastic Bendy Drinking Straws (or alternatively Pipe Cleaners)
Directions: Tape together about six drinking straws with the bendy ends facing outward. Dip the bendy ends in paint and “stamp” down on paper. You may have to use your other hand to push each straw all the way down. Do this multiple times overlapping fireworks on the paper. Then do the same process while switching colors and going over the same fireworks you stamped with the first color. Set aside and let paint dry.
If you don’t have paint on hand, consider “stamping” white craft glue instead and then fill in with different colors of glitter.
My daughter loved this craft idea so much that we ended up painting fireworks using acrylic paint on a plain cotton canvas bag. It turned out to be a cute and colorful way to embellish a bag that she can use for summer camp or a trip to the library!
