Got back $30 worth of +Up Rewards ( 6 $1 +Up Rewards and 12 $2 +Up Rewards)

Here’s a recap on this deal for all of you that may have missed my post earlier…

Buy 2 candies listed above (make sure to buy the exact ones listed) on sale this week 2/$5
Pay $5 (Or less if you have any coupons for the above candies)
Get a $1 +Up Reward for buying 2
Plus, get 2 $2 Mystery +Up Rewards
Final cost 2 bags for FREE!

*It appears that the $1 +Up reward for buying 2 is limited to 6 and the Mystery Rewards don’t appear to have a limit (?). I’ve never done a RA deal-how do the +up rewards work exactly-are they applied to your curretn transaction, or are they like coupons you apply to a later transaction-I’m trying to figure out how much out of pocket I’ll need when I go. I’m a bit confused-HELP!

    • Donna

if you’ve ever done cvs before it is kind of like that. when you purchase qualifying items it will print out on your receipt. your out of pocket will be more on the first trip then you can use those up rewards towards your NEXT trip. also if you have coupons and the $/$$ that helps alot too. hths

      • Kim

Hey i am knew to rite aid and saving with coupons. I went to Rite Aid and did the candy deal. I did well, however had to pay OOP $5.00 when I still had UP dollars that I wanted to use b/c they said u can only use the one reward for each item purchased. For example I bought $30.00 in candy (12 bags of candy) and could only use 12 UP reward slips. My mistake was that I used a couple of $1.00 ones, not realizing the limit amt. Just want to know if this is accurate information.

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

No, that is not accurate info. I have never been told by a cashier that there is a limit to UP+ they can take.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

They are like Extra Care Bucks. They print at the bottom of your receipt and you use them on the next transaction. HTH

  2. Daphneg

Worked in CT this morning. I may need to go get more when my crest coupons come in hopefully today.

  3. Elizabeth

I have a question? Can you do this deal multiple times and receive more UP Rewards? Or is the number allowed attached to the card?

    • Nicole C.

Yes, I did the same transaction twice in a row and used the Up Rewards from 1st transaction- no problems. Just be ready to separate your long receipt of coupons for the cashier… there are about 15 or so…

      • Elizabeth

Thanks, Nicole! I’m going to try this tomorrow since my Nivea qs arrived today. I bought ten bags today and my receipt was like a toliet paper roll!! I would just hate to do this scenario again and have to return all that candy. My store had a few bags left but the candy felt a little old so tomorrow I’m going to another store.

  4. Lola

Has anyone done this deal more then once?

  5. Leticia

I went last night….very surprised there were plenty of bags left. Went to 4 different stores got about 42 bags. I also got free crest toothpaste and toothbrushes. I started off with a gift card ended up paying about $10 in taxes oop… Ended up with $78 ups wow never in my life had I had so many….Tempted to go to the other 4 stores in town hmmmmmmm. :). Thank you Collin.

    • Annoyed

42 bags not enough for you? You’re right, no one else in your are probably would want to do this deal…good grief!

      • Leticia

No 42 bags are not enough….. We go to the homeless shelters and pass them out to the kids (there are alot of kids if you have never been to one by the way)… I know they don’t need candy but once a year doesn’t hurt.

        • dpokorney

I commend you on your volunteer work. I never thought of that, but I think it is very special that you do this for the children at Halloween. Please clear some more shelves.

          • Leticia

Thank you…..and no I did not clear the shelves….believe me I know how it feels when u go looking for something and it’s not there….at every store I went to there were at least 20 bags left

        • Lauren

That is a very good idea Good Work if you save more you can give more

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

mind your own buisness!!!!!!! She did not take from your hand personally and is trying to give to others who have none. You do not what other’s are doing with their loot, as many are doing good things with it, like in this instance. You put your feet in your mouth BEFORE you make an ugly comment next time.

    • Agreeing with anonymous

I donate to a domestic shelter every year along with a homeless shelter. BOTH places actually try to avoid a lot of sugary snacks with the exception of a few holiday celebrations and they usually get more than enough and up DONATING it to other places, such as local schools. It is awesome that you donate, but I still don’t think it’s right going store to store clearing shelves. Other people out there have causes that they help out (ie, holiday parties at low income schools, Salvation Army holiday baskets, etc) and even if you aren’t helping out a cause doesn’t mean you aren’t worthy of a few treats for you and your family. It’s kinda sad to read of people trying to find a few bags and aren’t able to because of people going crazy on this deal. I think it’s people going hogwild that cause promotions to be pulled time and time again. Are you planning on using all your freely earned money to help the shelter too? I know what they really ALWAYS need is toiletries – deodorants, full size soap bars, shaving needs, feminine products, shampoo – and socks are also always a huge need. People will wear their socks to they are literally just threads and a nice pair of warm socks makes a huge difference in their lives.

Just remember we aren’t the only ones out there or the only ones with a cause. 🙂

      • Leticia

Yes I donate tons of toiletries, cereal, some clothing, toys during x mas, hair appliances for the girls, last year some of the boys requested some watches so we bought a few…. I agree don’t clear the shelves….as a couponer that is one of the rules everyone should follow but sadly some dont.

        • Amanda

Leticia-congratulations on your score! Don’t let others steal your joy. I don’t get when someone gets a really good deal on here everybody is worried about what charity the person is going to give it to. If your that worried about where the proceeds are going then run out and buy the candy yourself and donate it to the charity of your choice. If there isn’t any left it wasn’t meant to be and go on to the next deal on here. They are rolling in everyday…sometimes you get them, sometimes you don’t. That is just how life works.

  6. Kristy

Just returned from my stop at Rite Aid. I was totally going to skip this deal because we just do not need the candy in the house…. but…..

I had to pick up my free 5×7 from the deal that was posted yesterday and I figured why not. I was out of +up rewards from earlier in the week and getting some things I needed that were not on sale..

I got 10 bags of candy, three trial size Treseme products, and 2 5×7 pictures.

    I used $5 off 3 Tresseme products VV Q
$5 off $25 purchase (this is the pdf Q)
and the Q for the 2 free 5X7’s
    Total was 19.48

    I received 20 – $2.00 +up rewards
    5 – $1.00 +up rewards
Total of 5.52 profit. Yay… looking forward to using my +up rewards next week!

  7. Niki

Is the deal still work in CA? Because new deal start today. I got some bags yesterday and NO I am not greedy. BUT Holloween is right around the corner. You know what I mean.

  8. Jennifer

Deal is working in Spokane Wa. Very slim pickins but there is still some.

  9. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The deal did not work for me last night. I bought the candy listed (6 bags) and Nivea lip care – no UPs printed out. Grrr . Silly Rite Aid.

  10. mary

Did anyone mention Werthers are working too?

    • Christa K.

Yes, Werthers are working with the deal.

  11. diane

has anyone tryed this deal in ga?

    • Kathy

Worked for me in Calhoun, Ga. this morning. Got 10 bags, used $5 off $25 coupon and paid $21 but got $24 in UPs. I ate licorice for breakfast!!

  12. Jodi

Just wasted my morning! Was so excited to do this deal. My local store didn’t have 12 Sour Patch Kids bags, but the nice cashier offered to call another store. They put them on hold for me. I couldn’t believe they were bonus size bags when I got there! BUT, they wouldn’t accept my 5/25 RA q since it wouldn’t scan AND she wouldn’t accept my 2 Sour Patch Kids coupons, either! For some reason, they always say “item doesn’t match”. I showed her the wording on the qs, that it’s $4 off 6, but she wouldn’t put it through. I voided out the sale and went back to the first store. I bought 2 Crazy Cores Skittles bags (14 oz) and didn’t get the $1 +UP. It only works on the red bag. Wanted to let everyone know. Boy, this was going to be a good MM, so bummed! Guess we can’t get in on every deal.

  13. TJ

Worked in West Virginia this morning, thanks Collin!

  14. Mary

I’ve done two trips so far today.

    2 Gallons of Milk
    30 Butterfinger candy bars
    2 Butterfinger snackerz
    1 Tic Tac Big pack
    2 bags blow pops
    2 bags dum dums
    2 bags swedish fish
    2 bags skittles
    1 Schick Razor

    Used $2 in Ups

    Paid $8.43 OOP
Have $12 in Ups to use now

    Sweet!

  15. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

worked in Howell, MI. Except- I almost got a speeding ticket because I was so excited. That would have negated the deal, right?

    • Chriscia

I am always afraid of that. Nothing like a deal getting you going.

  16. Mitch

I just paid $9 for 4 bags of Blw Pops and Star Burst, and received $7 in Up rewards. I am saisfied with that.
And, I am about to head out to what will hopefully be a better stocked Rite-Aid a 1/2 mile away, i am not finished!
How come the whole country doesn;t follow hip2save for free food????
    thanks

    • Anonymous

It’s a good thing they don’t, because stock is already out at most store on the good deals – candy and Nivea.

  17. Deb

I live in Murfreesboro, Tn and it was working fine this morning. The cashier couldn’t believe it and called a co-worker to the register so she could work the deal too. Thanks! 🙂

    • Kristie

Thanks, Deb! I’m off to the Old Fort store in a few minutes. Hope there’s still some left! If not, I’m getting my free 8×10 anyway!

    • Amanda

I live in Clarksville, TN and let me just say I am swooning on all the free candy I scored! 🙂

      • Kristie

Shelves were empty at the Old Fort location in Murfreesboro, TN. Serves me right for not going last night, I guess! If I didn’t have a baby getting near naptime I’d have gone to another store. My logic was that I’d get it for Halloween since it’d be free, but it’s probably better they didn’t have it since I’d eat it all before Halloween.

        • Kiki

Yeah! Murfreesboro people! I was going to stop by the one on Church St. later tonight and will have to take my chances, can stock up for Halloween!

  18. Faith

can the up rewards used on anything or are the designated to specific departments?

    • Elizabeth Allred

      Anything!

  19. bri

Didn’t work in CA AND I shopped a new store as I had to pick up a kid from practice and they fought me on EVERYTHING. I had my policy printed out though.
In the end I got to use all my coupons BUT I did not get back AND UPs rewards on the candy.
Our sales end her on Thrus. night, but I was in the store a hour before closing 🙁
I think I’m just gonna return it all as I don’t want to fight with corporate… especially when they are playing dumb about the “mystery reward”

    • Anonymous

I don’t think corporate is playing dumb on the mystery rewards, I think it’s a huge glitch in the system that might end up costing them a lot of money.

      • Jenna

It is, and corporate is aware of the problem and advised the cashiers to not give the mystery UP rewards to the customer. So you will get the $1/2 bags UPR, but they were advised at my store to take back the $2 Club/Choc ups… they took all 6 of my $2 Club/Choc UPR, but I bought other things and still got a great deal. 🙂

    • tiffanym916

I am in CA and my deals always work through Saturday. Just last Staurday i went and scored all the deals I had wanted from the the Sunday ad. I have not tried this one but plan to today and will post if it worked or not 😀

  20. Anna

Anyone in the Huntsville/Madison, Alabama area? Is the deal working there? I won’t be there until tomorrow morning but thought I’d ask. Thanks!

  21. Courtney

I just got back from Rite Aid… Friday 9AM – it worked! it worked! it worked! Thank you collin!
I did two transactions and now the cashier is getting some sugar too!

  22. Susan

I did the deal this morning in Augusta. 12 bags and a lot of UP’s! 🙂

  23. darunima

I was successful in obtaining alot of candy as well. But all of us are going to need to spend some real money at these stores to keep them afloat. Some items we purchase are subsides of the companies not wanting to reclaim all of these products and then try sell them to discounts and close out stores i.e. Ollies, Big Lots, Family Dollar, amd Dollar General. Remember charites when doing these deals wether it be a school, a fire department, a retirement home, a Veterans Affairs facilities we are be subsidized with UPrewards, Extra Care bucks, Catalina Coupons and regular coupons. 5 schick razors and 4 deodorants later, can make 9 people very happy even if we never get to see their smiles.

  24. Debbye

Just went to Rite Aid in Columbia, SC (Broad River Rd.) and scored this deal, but boy, was it a pain! I got the candy and went to check out but there was no cashier around. After about a minute I went looking for someone and the only person I could find was the manager. I told her I was ready to check out and asked if she would call a cashier. She told me to go wait and she would be right with me. A couple of minutes later she came to check me out. I handed her the $5/$25 coupon then when she told me the total I handed her my +UPs from earlier in the week. She told me that she would have to void the transaction because I had to use the +UPs before I could use the $5/$25 coupon. I told her if that was the case I would just go to another Rite Aid because that had never been a problem before. She said that she would let it go this once but not in the future. When my receipt printed with all of the +UPs she said “Wait a minute! You didn’t purchase this stuff!” I asked her what she meant, and she told me that there should be no +UPs on this candy. She made me wait while she went to the back to “call corporate”. When she came back to the front she gave me my receipt with +UPs and told me that I could have them but they will not work. I think I’ll find another Rite Aid even if I have to drive a little bit further!

    • Roger

As much as I hate to say it, you should report the incident to corporate customer service. BUT, wait until next Monday so everyone can continue trying to get candy from this deal. Otherwise, they may realize the offer and take it down. They should direct it to the local district manager, who should be able to address the issue and get back to you. It could be a situation of employee misunderstanding of policy, but it sounds a bit overboard to me, from your description.

    • Jenna

Just FYI: Ra corp is aware of the “mystery UPR” printing for the candy and have told associates and managers not to allow customers to leave with the $2 Club/Choc upr. So they took all 6 of mine, but did let me keep the 3 $1 upr for buying 6 bags- just fyi. Since UPR are funded by corp, I’m guessing they won’t be happy… about this glitch and it’s going to cost them. 🙁

      • couponluver

If they are aware you would think they could just turn it off from doing it….weird

  25. btb1217

does anyone know if this works with the giradelli luxe (sp? sorry..) thats advertised in the ad?

    • butterfly421

i just bought some and no it doesn’t but they’re YUMMY hehe 🙂

  26. Kelley R.

Worked for me this morning at 8:45 in Oregon. I did two transactions, and rolled the +Ups from the 1st transcaction into the second no problem. All told I made $14 buying candy at Rite Aid. Yayyyyy!

    • Dana

I did the deal last night (I am in SW Washington) it worked great! I will try rolling my rewards today!

  27. Casey

I did this deal today buying 10 bags of candy. When the recipet printed with all the +up rewards the manager who rang me up looked at them and me and said “you aren’t supposed to get that many. The limit is 1 per card.” He counted them all up and was really hesitant about handing them to me. I thought me might not let me have them!! Made me feel kinda guilty, like I was taking advantage.

  28. Lori Clark

Just worked for me in Mechanicsburg, PA. 🙂

  29. Shebella

It worked in Georgia, but I only got $21 dollars back in rewards instead of $30, but that was AOK.

  30. Christa K.

Deal is still working this morning in upstate NY.

  31. Crista

Has anyone created a new, updated listing of all of the candy that “works” with this deal?
    Thanks!!

  32. Em

I went to Rite Aid here in Georgia and all of the 2 for $5 candy that earned a $1 UP reward had been pulled off the shelf. I overheard the cashier calling other Rite Aid’s talking about the “glitch” in the system regarding the candy and how stores are getting wiped out. Just a heads up for anyone making a special trip for this deal.

  33. Tanya

I just did this in Cumming, GA and it worked fine. I bought 10 bags each time and used the $5/$25 coupon and it printed the $30 worth each time.

    • Susan

I did this in Cumming, GA this morning–at the store on Hwy. 20 and Bethelview–but it did not work. Where did you do it and what did you buy?

  34. Tina

Worked this morning in Plymouth, PA!!
    Bought:
    (2) Starburst Bags 14oz
    (1) Jolly Rancher 14oz
    (2) Swedish Fish Bonus Pack 16 oz
    (1) Sour Patch 14oz

  35. erin

Worked in Lansing, MI at 10:30! I got 2 sourpatch kids, 2 sweedish fish, 4 blowpops, 1 40 ct. bag of halls($1.99), and 1 80 ct. bag of halls($3.89). Used $4/$20 VV(Comp. died the other night so I couldn’t get the $5/$25), $0.50 halls VV, $4/6 gum/candy/halls(8/8SS) and a $1 +Up. Spent $16.38 and got back $21 in +Ups (one was from the 80 ct. Halls). Ready for Halloween and coughs, plus a few stocking stuffers! Love ya Colin! Thanks!

  36. Skip

Worked perfectly! I bought 12 bags of various candy in the list, 2 of some, 1 of others. Also bought the free toothbrush and Trident gum. Had a half off coupon for the gum, a $1 +up coupon, a $5/25 I downloaded, and a BOGO swedish fish coupon I downloaded. Total paid was $24.50 and I got $33 in +ups.

    Thanks for the great deal!

  37. STACEY WADDELL

I am so super excited!! I got 20 bags of candy, spent $17 OOP, got back $35 in +UP!!! Thanks so much Collin!!! You are super awesome!

  38. Melissa

This worked for me at 11am today in Westminster,MD! Thanks for sharing this deal. It will be great passing out on Halloween

  39. couponluver

did 5 transactions amongst the different stores here in town. Got 60 bags!! Perfect for our school carnival tomorrow who is looking for candy donations. Each transaction came out to ZERO and I mad an additional $25 in UP’s off buying these 🙂 Happy Happy Happy

    • Tracy

the kids are going to love you

  40. Luda

I think people are getting carried away, what are you going to do with 60 bags!!! I will not be surprised if Rite Aid cancels those extra rewards.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

She just told you what she was going to do with 60 bags of candy…………..seriously, can’t you read!!!! She is donating it to the school. I’m tired of people running at the mouth,MIND YOUR OWN BUISNESS

      • Agrees with Anonymous

what part of “school carnival tomorrow who is looking for candy donations” was so hard to understand?????

        • Bree

ITA with you two and whether she’s donating the candy or not is no one’s business! But I think it’s great couponluver is giving it away – have fun at the carnival!! :o)

          • couponluver

YEAP, didn’t want the candy nor needed it BUT I did want the extra $5 UP’s I was earning in each transaction. The school was over the moon when we brought in our bags this morning because so far they had only gotten 10 bags donated for our entire school. Felt good!! And to the hater…dont be jealous but do learn to read. Couponing should be about sharing and not greed and my family shares ALOT!!

  41. stephanie

Not sure if this is a repeat.
I have done this deal 10 times now and it rolled everytime.
I did it this way though…
    Buy 8 bags of candy
Buy 1 pk of Viva paper towels
    Use $5/$25
Use any Ups you may have
Pay $22 or in my case I paid .14 bc I had Ups
    Get back $22 in Ups!

I did this 10 times today. I started with Ups so my oop was .14 each time after rolling Ups. I also bought 10 Nivea and pay nothing but got Ups. I now have $84 in Ups (some from previous purchases)
Please note that I did not clear out any stores. There were enough at each store when I left to do 10 more sets at least…I went to 4 different stores and split up my shopping to give everyone else a chance.

I would do the paper towel thing though. Unless you really want that much candy.
I ended up with 10 Nivea, 10 pks of Viva paper towels, and 80 bags of candy for $3 oop and got back $84 in Ups!

    • Julie

Holy cow – how long did that take? Did you split it up between stores? Sometimes I feel like the cashier’s get annoyed if I even try to do 2 transactions with my coupons and UPs. 🙁

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yep, I split them up between 4 stores. it took 2 hrs bc I had my one year old with me. I don’t like to clear out stores so I did 3 trans at 2 stores, and 4 trans at another. I made sure I left plenty for fellow couponers.

  42. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Worked perfectly fine at New York, NY! Thanks for posting this deal!

  43. Lucia

Worked in CA, near San Francisco.

  44. Carrie

Still working in eastern Long Island, NY. Bought 5 bags Blow Pops, 5 bags Tootsie Pops, paid appx. $20 after $5/25 coupon, got $25 Ups. I do have a question though: what is everyone doing with their unwrapped candy (Swedish Fish, Sour Patch Kids)? I can’t hand those out on Halloween, that’s why I got lollipops…

Thanks Colin for posting the deal.

  45. :::grace:::

worked for TOOTSIE ROLLS also 😉

  46. Tracy

  47. Erin

AMAZING!!! I was nervous about the “mystery” rewards, but they printed right out with no problems. I’m so happy to have earned $5 just for buying candy!!!! 😀

  48. BuddysGirl

    Collin –

Just did the exact deal you posted, and it worked like a charm!

The cashier said, “OMG the receipt is taller than me, this is the longest one I have ever seen!!”

    Thanks! 🙂

  49. cyndy

i just did the deal in greenville, sc mystery rewards printed fine….but $1 up dint print…on starbust and sour patches 🙁

  50. tiffany

I’ve done this deal 3 x so far at three different RA’s and it’s always worked like a charm. The store Mgr at one of the stores told me that all those Up’s are a mistake and will be discontinued tomorrow so it’s a good thing I did this deal today.
