UPDATE: After reading through the comments, it sounds like many of you are skeptical that this deal will actually work at your local Target. As I mentioned below, it worked just fine for me an hour or so ago as the cashier simply scans the Mobile Coupon barcode on your phone and the savings are applied automatically (the cashier does not have to key in any info). If you do indeed head out to test the deal, please share your success stories and/or any issues that you experienced below.

Worked at 8:30EST – got a $39.99 watch with clearance earrings for $4.48. The clearance section for jewelry was really bad, but I managed to find something I can wear. No problems at the register. Took a couple seconds after scanning for the “ding” of the register taking off the money, but that was it. The guy at the register did a double-take, but didn’t say anything. 🙂 Awesome deal. When it comes down to it . . . everyone here is an adult (meaning your frontal lobes are fully developed) and can make your own decisions. No one can control what other people do or feel and vice versa. People write comments so they can be heard.

This is a great watch — the only brand that I have worn for over 10 years (each one lasts about 2 years, and I use the alarms and stop watches A LOT). My current model has three alarms as well as timer features. Cannot recommend highly enough! (Although an IronMan like a movie one would be pretty cool).

Worked for me at 8:45pm! Right before the store closed. got a $40 timex and a paid of earrings for $2.55 in Johns creek Ga.
I used this coupon over the weekend to buy two necklaces. One was clearance for $7.48 and one was regular retail for $14.99 and it took off the higher priced one. It was a pleasant surprise! I hadn’t though of going back for others but I just might!

Just worked here in AL. This is going to make a nice Christmas gift for someone. Since my husband is now out of a job until this government shut down is over, every penny I can save is wonderful. Keep posting these deals!!! This has nothing to do with morals/ethics to all those posting negative comments. If you don’t feel right, then don’t do it. It is no different than checking the bottom of every coupon to see if it excludes trial size.

They are still sending out the coupons, they do not expire until 10/4 and target has stated on their website that the more expensive item will be the free one. I think the only thing standing in your way now is uneducated staff or lack of inventory.

Heads up y’all… Target posted on Facebook and said they are honoring the coupon until it expires. You may wanna go take a screen shot and have it ready before you head to the store.
For those of u criticizing, it’s been confirmed by Target Corp that this deal was NOT a glitch! It is a privilege that we have ppl who care so much for others that take time out of their precious day to help us save without having to sit there for hours in order to find the best deals. I only downloaded this app 2 days ago and I was able to get 4 deals that I would have missed otherwise. We have to be grateful and not criticize b4 we know the facts. I’m forever grateful that I was introduced to this app. Whoever u are continue to so what u do. Someone just posted on ig that they called corporate and verified the deal and was given a confirmation that this was an intentional deal put out by target. In addition, just to validate they were given a reference code to validate the deal in case the store gave any issues.

Wow, so many people eating crow. We have to remember that “assuming” that it’s a mistake just because it sounds too good to be true isn’t always true either. I have a $199 down comforter on my bed that I bought for $9.99, the same discount % that this deal is. Some deals are just good deals and some are great. Unless someone is copying, pasting, presenting incorrect or falsified information, they did nothing wrong. Taking advantage of a coupon as it reads or is listed is not unethical. How many people were judging today who used to roll register rewards at Walgreens? Isn’t that the same thing?
Until a company publically retracts a deal or announces it was a mistake, it is not our job to “assume” it was an error. On a side note, I wonder who people who already “called corporate” and were told it was an error were talking to?

This deal looks awesome! I have absolutely no problem doing this deal even if it is a glitch cause I used to work for target. If you shoppers knew what really goes on! The ridiculous policies. The money they spend on BS verses the money they scam out of all of us on a daily bases. And I know 2 wrongs don’t make a right but trust me when I say they will not lose any money or take away these deals just cause they mess up and let people get away with a killer deal once in awhile.

when you get the the text to confirm reply with y and then retext the word offers to the same number you should then get the coupon
Just worked for me. Cashier called the loss prevention guy in the back and he must’ve given the okay. There was a snarky comment by the cashier about it being fraud, but I don’t think so. If it is a glitch, oh well. I’ve dealt with glitches in my work. It happens.
Collin-I don’t think you did anything wrong and am glad to hear you are sticking to your guns! I work for Target, in fact, I was the front end manager for over 2 years. The coupon was a glitch in the system and Target is now trying to fix the solution. Some stores will honor the coupon while others won’t. When it comes to situations like this, Target’s policy is that it is up to the store’s discretion. There have been many other coupons in the past that went through that weren’t supposed to and a day or two later it was fixed in the system. Target took a hit big deal, they make out in the long run anyway. Thank you for posting such amazing deals and more importantly, thank you for believing in yourself!! =)
It worked for me although the cashier called management because she didn’t want to give it to me but they told her too so I’m happy. I was surprised that it rang up correctly but she still went through the trouble of trying to take it away from me oh well.
At the Target I work at in Cerritos, CA we aren’t allowed to accept it as per our management’s instructions. It really depends on the manager I suppose. Ours believe that it’s a glitch or a hack in the system since it give the higher priced item for free. So good luck to anyone who can get this through! I’m going to try at some other local Targets to see if I can snag this deal.
So I tried it at a couple other targets in the area and it worked! I got a set of earrings and a star wars watch (for my dad) for only $3.58!!!! I’m surprised, but I was told that corporate sent an email out that said they’d be fixing it by tomorrow.

This is so ridiculous. I am a single mother of four with a mortgage and one income…. you know the kind that makes too much for welfare but not enough to survive. My friend introduced me to hip2save and I have been able to raise my kids so far without having to choose to feed them or pay for their roof. I personally wanted to thank you collin and for then haters out there if your mother thought you anything which sounds like she didn’t… if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all. The world is already going down hill as it is
As a Target worker, I must say that we make more in a day than what we’ll lose in a week from the goof up. I’m not worried to take advantage of the deal.

Yea, nevermind…im not on board with basically getting something for nothing. Especially, when the something is 58.99 in value. I cant justify paying 3.00 for 60.00 worth of merchandise. Even if the 58.99 item was clearanced at 90%, it still would not be 3.00 or less!!!! This is definitely a huuuuuuuge come UP! I mean the people in china probably got paid more for making the dang watch!!! YIKES!!! No wait, DOUBLE YIKES.

Just so you know the companies pay the people in China that make these goods pennies. The companies in China don’t make much money at all and lots of them can’t even start production without a deposit to buy materials.
It’s sad isn’t it. I thought about boycotting Chinese made goods but then realized I probably wouldn’t be buying much at all. Seems everything is made over there. I remember back in the 90s there was a boycott on Chinese made goods because a lot of them were made by prisoners in the laogai (the concentration camps), many of whom are political prisoners and not criminals.

I’ve never tried to use this mobile app before. When I text OFFERS to the number listed above, it gives me a few deals. Does the barcode only work for one of these deals? Or can I use the same barcode for multiple deals? And is it really that easy? You just text OFFERS and automatically get a barcode. Then you show it to the casier? Easy as that? Thanks so much for any help!!
Becky, yes it is that easy and awesome! When the cashier scans the barcode all products that match with the coupons listed will be adjusted. After you’ve used it, when you see the offers, the ones that have been used will have the following “Redeemed on 10/1/13.” Just a tip. Take a screen clip of your mobile coupons, cartwheel, and shopkick. When you are at the register, just scroll through your saved screen pics.
We actually aren’t scanning from the screen clips though. It’s against policy to do that.

So was it a glitch that they fixed or is it still working?
Still working I did the deal at 9:45pm central and I only read about it at 9:30pm so if it was a glitch then I have no idea why the computers are still accepting it. Did Target themselves say it was a glitch or is it all hearsay.
Went to the store (Bourbonnais, IL.) after I seen the 3rd update and the coupon only took off the lower priced item. Plenty of questions on Target Facebook

I tried it not too long ago to get a clearance pair of earrings for 5 dollars and a 25 dollar watch. My total was a little over 30 bucks and after the coupon my total was 6 dollars! Needles to say the cashier had a very confused look on her face which I enjoyed. Thanks for the deal!
