ToysRUs/BabiesRUs: *HOT!* Summer Clearance Only 3¢ (Including Carter’s & Converse Shoes + More!)

Hip2Save may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you via trusted partners and affiliate links in this post. Prices and availability are accurate as of time posted. Read our full disclosure policy here.

UPDATE: After reading through the comments, it appears 3¢ items may be designated for charity and are not intended to be sold. For that reason, I am expiring the post.

Wowie! 😀 If you have a ToysRUs and/or BabiesRUs nearby, you likley will want to run on over there tomorrow when they open! You may spot super *HOT* deals on summer clearance! A friend of mine (who also lives in Boise) spotted shirts, sleep n’ plays and a nice variety of boys and girls shoes (including Carter’s and  Converse!) for only 3¢ … YES – you heard me right —->

This is crazy… and appears to be going on nationwide. Note that these summer clearance deals may not be marked correctly, so be sure to price check. Come back and let us know if you’re able to snag awesome clearance buys too!

I was in babies r us 2 days ago and they had a sign at the register saying any items that rang up marked .03 would not be sold. The sign said the items were being donated to a charity ( don’t remember which one). I saw a person in front me with stuff that rang up .03 and the cashier refused to sell it. Just a heads up.

    • ana

That’s crazy for them to do that. If that the case why don’t they just take everything to the back and take out whatever 0.03 and keep it in the back?smh. im going tomorrow a.m.

      • ana

Or maybe I can tell them I will donate to charity too. I know a mom that goes to Children’s Hospital and drops off food and clothing/toys for family’s that have to stay.she collects through out our counry

      • Brittany

Why is it crazy? It’s obviously a mistake in their system that they are probably trying to resolve and can’t keep up with everything that is ringing up wrong. Nothing wrong at all with them donating those items to charity. You’d be surprised at the amount of people who snatch those things up, just to sell them on ebay or at flea markets. There’s always another deal around the corner. Don’t sound so entitled…

        • Taylorluvsdeals

Actually it’s NOT a “mistake” to make room for Christmas summer and Halloween items are clearance out to $0.03 some stores sell, some pull and donate. Only way to know is to go to the store and scan away.
I bought several items, and there were a few other moms there hunting too. Scored some nice shoes for my daughter next summer. spent $0.18 on 5 pairs of shoes and a shirt!

          • April

Some stores are donating and its not crazy for them to donate. Not everyone can get every deal and donating is always a good thing.

        • sann

If someone buys clearance items and sells them online or at a flea market they are in need as well. They are not just sitting around waiting for a handout, they might need money for Christmas for their kids. Helps everyone get a good deal.

          • Brittany

Or they could just be trying to line their own wallets and take advantage of the situation. I feel like it’s unethical, but that’s just my opinion.

            • sann

Totally agree. It’s a lot of work to buy cheap and sell for a couple dollars more. At least they are doing something besides asking for handouts. Is it better to just give to someone who does nothing? They are doing exactly what the store would do just on a smaller scale. Buy and sell for more.

            • Brittany

You must be so proud that you “wiped out” three stores of items that were intended for donation. Good for you.

            • stormie

So is it wrong for someone to make jewlery and sell it online? I dont feel it as wrong at all if you find something cheap and price it a couple more dollars. There are single moms everywhere working two jobs to make ends meat and going to school to try to better their life and sometime need another supplemental income just to put food on the table. And sometimes may not have money to buy kid clothes all the time and need to come across these deals to survive but dont want to go to a good pantry or ask for help i know because that use to be me and my daughter i never seen her because i worked to jobs and when i was home i was making stuff to sell to try to make more money to survive. Dont judge unless you for a fact know someones story.

            • marie

I agree Brittany, i was there one day and bought 3 things. As they were pulling things out to bring out back telling me that they were suppose to be donated. Later that day i had gone back only to see ALL the stuff back on the floor and re tagged. So that was one giant lie from them. Even a pair of shoes that had been on clearance and they now wanted to sell to me for $45.00.

        • Heather Cooper

I don’t think Ana sounds entitled at all! I think she meant it’s crazy for them to keep that stuff out and then refuse to sell it instead of making a sales person go through and just bring that stuff to the back. That is crazy not them donating to a charity. Don’t be mean to someone you don’t even know please 🙁

          • stormie

            Well said

    • whitley

Wondering if this is true for all locations. I live an hour away from the closest Toys R Us & don’t want to be disappointed! **I’m pregnant with number 3, so I wouldn’t be totally disappointed anyway 😉

      • Angela

        Call first

        • amy

never call…these are aren’t supposed to be sold (like someone else said). They were supposed to be pulled and donated. Calling gives them a heads up before you get there to check their racks!

  2. Janel

I’m so confused that can’t be real lol

  3. Holly

I saw these a few days ago at babies r us. They had a sign at the registers saying any items ringing up .03 would not be sold as they were being given to a charity. I saw the cashier refuse to sell to a lady in front of me. Just a heads up, this was in Southern California.

    • phelan

What cities in southern ca? I’m in riverside, wonder if I should still check!

  4. Nick

Nikes, Skechers, flip flops, and halloween costumes/clothing.

  5. Janel

    Any toddler size?

  6. Terry Carr

lol that’s crazy…i may get 2 pair of shoes and duct tape them together haha

  7. Becks

Has anyone else seen this in California? Every time I run out to try and catch a sale, things are only marked down 25-50%. I feel like things always sell out here before the price drops 70% or more 😭

    • jennifer

No san Gabriel valley area is not selling anything that rings up for .3

    • Tina

nothing in Culver City either for $0.03. Not even the Halloween stuff!

  8. rosana

    Too good to be true.

    • Nick

      No it’s real.

  9. Terry Carr

For 3 Cents, who cares what size they are. Gift them. Homeless shelters, etc…

  10. L.

Yeah Dollar General does that too. They are supposed to pull the penny items for charity but it is up to management to decide if they want to sell the items or donate them.

  11. Jennifer M.

I’m going to try in MN! hopefully i could snag some stuff. Thanks Hip!!

  12. Jennifer M.

I’m going to try in MN! hopefully i could snag some stuff. Thanks Hip!!

  13. Melissa in KS

I am curious to know if anyone has been successful in scoring this deal?

  14. April

They are donating the stuff and not throwing it away I see nothing wrong with that. I believe people would sell it on Ebay so best its donated to those in need.

    • Wendy R

I agree that is pretty awesome. Unlike Abercrombie or Ralph Lauren who cut up their cloths because they don’t want certain economic groups wearing their apparel. Appalling to me. Target also donates their display items in my town to the battered women’s shelter. Household goods, furniture etc to set up safe home for battered families. Respectful!

      • BearsBootsnBlessings

I did not know this about Abercrombie or RL. I am passing on their products in the future. Thanks,

  15. Blair

Collin, just wondering if your friend spotted the deal or actually bought 3¢ items? I’m only making sure because my Babies R Us is pretty strict unfortunately,so I wanna be certain the items have actually been sold to customers before heading over to my local store:) Thank you in advance and for all of the good deals everyday!

  16. Ccre_21

Was just at bru/tru an hour ago here in buena park ca, didnt find a single item after scanning things for an hour with hubby 🙁 shelves were cleared out too looks like they pulled the clearance out.

    • Happymama

So true! I remember when I had my son (he’s almost 14) and I’d easily find dynamite clearance after holidays. I did hit the jackpot at Meijer’s Halloween 90% off and gobbled lots up because I didn’t know the next time I’d see a great one again! It gets harder and harder to get a “hidden” deal. I’m not even going to try this deal, but I appreciate Collin’s deals 🙂

  17. shari groat

If they did let me buy it…..I would buy every single item they had in stock and donate it…how fun would that be??!!!!

  18. Ora

I scored a cart full!! Converse sneakers, Sketcher’s, Halloween costumes. Carter’s soft baby shoes. ALL for $0.03 each!! Whoo hoo! 🙂

    • Christy

      Nice. What’s your location?

  19. Marybeth

They show it marked 3 cents online but it wont allow you to purchase it. Anything else on clearance is available just not the 3 cent stuff

  20. Kiki Doll

I saw great deals on clearance items at Toysrus.com they had Barbie and a couple of other popular items at 50% off or more 🙂

  21. Jen

my sister in law in Pheoenix emailed me she got 14 pairs of shoes at .3 a peice!!!

  22. Jenae

I found lots this morning. I bought 15 pairs of sketcher’s sneakers. $0.03 each!! I’m in CO

    • K

      What part of co?

  23. Jamie

If anyone got the Pampers email with the free ornament code and isn’t going to use it, I would love to make a keepsake ornament of my newborn baby boy. You could email it to me at firewifeOC77 at gmail dot com.

I know this is a shot in the dark, but I wanted to take the chance.

    Thanks for reading!

    Jamie

    • Sarah

I emailed you one as well.

  24. Wendy R

I would like to be able to donate more! Maybe I’ll head there tomorrow would be nice for giving trees and such!

  25. kayla

They are suppose to pull all of these items.

  26. Gina

Darn was there earlier shopping for a yoyo… retails at 29.99 and it ranrang up at 4 cents!!! They sold it to me no problem 🙂 may have to make the 13 mile drive and check it out. 3 babyshowers before xmas :/

  27. Michelle

My MIL scored this deal in Tulsa a few weeks ago! She filled her car up with summer toys. Nice water guns, bubbles, floaties, sand toys, etc. When she told her husband to guess how much she had spent he guessed $200. She spent $2.97 with tax!!!

  28. Sharon Fuller

I got some costumes today, but you will find that most of it is gone already. These are items that should have been pulled to do whatever the stores do with items that they are getting rid of. Donate or trash. Also, some stores seem to be refusing to sell the items. In other words-your mileage may vary. Good luck!

  29. hope

The only use I’d have for it would be donations and and maybe holding a onsie back to make pjs for my dog…..So I won’t be too sad If I get denied.

  30. Alma

Omggggg! Im going tomorrow morning! I don’t have any kids but we are going to brazil next month and my hubby and I just had a conversation about adopting a family for the holidays in brazil or donating once we are there. I would looooove to take a bunch of baby cloths to the children’s hospital here in Seattle as well. Crossing my fingers I find some great deals!

    • Jani

Alma…let us know if you find anything !!

  31. Rae

Ours had most of the summer stuff and shoes gone by the first week of September. Lol.

  32. Ari

I just drove over to the store in Santa Ro
sa, CA, they didnt have anything

  33. Juliana

Anyone in Southern California have luck?!

    • Amani

I have two stores close buy here in Southern Cali. I will be checking this out first thing in the morning. Totally worth the five minute drive 🙂

    • jennifer

No san Gabriel valley area is not selling anything that rings up for .3

  34. Judy

Where in store did u guys find $0.03 items?

  35. Haseena

Anyone had any luck at the Commack store on Long Island, NY?

  36. Mistie

I’m in Utah. I bought out the store! lol and only spent a little over a buck!!

    • Kristina

What Utah location did you shop at?

  37. Tracy

Anyone try in ohio? I don’t want to take my newborn out in the subzero temperatures

    • Hollie

I’m in ohio too and was wondering the same thing before we go out in the cold!

  38. kayla

I’m in Utah and there was nothing. Sales associates also pulling stuff :/

  39. cassie

Don’t waste your time in murrieta at bru. Nothing ringing up that cheap. Just 30-70% off. They were scanning everything on the floor.

    • vanessa

      thanks!!

    • Dani

Thank you ! Was planning on checking this am

  40. Mrs. Kim Sager (@TheSagerFamily)

I know of couple stores in FL where it is iffy depends on cashier & or manager on at the time you go. I had good luck with 2 trips, not major hauls but 2 things at night tights and a spiderman costume and afternoon I spent 2.39 I think it was and was all on 3 cent items water/beach shoes, a boys t-shirt, a few monster hats that are adorable…. I also know of people in FL and other states who have gotten bibs, sneakers, socks, well just a ton of different things.

I just suggest go with positive attitude, try to stay calm, choose your cashier wisely…. when mine mentioned she was hoping to get a pair of tights when she saw they were ringing up 3 cents I gave her a pair. Remember what we were taught in good old pre-K… its nice to share 🙂

If your store donates its actually a good thing. Bummer on not getting the deal but MUCH better than stores that toss stuff into trash… I find that HORRIBLE!

I doubt there will be too much luck with each passing day of finding more with so many knowing about it BUT if your real close to a store or 2 or drive by one on way to work then it is well worth giving it a shot OHhhhh and the other sales they have going on might not be 3 cents but there is some really great clearance overall…. with Christmas coming cannot hurt to save money even if it is only 70% off that is still real nice discount.

    Good luck all.

  41. monica

how about Salem, Oregon? Any luck there?

  42. Myeshia

    anyone in the DMV area

  43. Jay

awesome. Will have to check the Ohio stores!

  44. Nikkmaur

I heard about this Tuesday morning and checked my local store around 6pm. Everything was cleared out already. The few items I found were ringing up regular price(maybe the fixed the glitch). There are posts on Facebook of people buying multiple carts full of stuff. So don’t be shocked if you don’t find anything. I can’t say I’m shocked. If I was the first person to hit a store it would be hard not to clear the shelves.

  45. Jenn

    Anyone try Pennsylvania???

    • Amanda M.

I would love to know about stores in PA doing this as well. My closest store is 40 minutes away. I may call at store opening hours! Thanks for the update Collin!!

    • Des

I’d love to know too, especially in the Pittsburgh area. My nearest TRU is 30 minutes away and today’s my first day off in a while so I don’t want to waste my time making a trip for nothing. Was planning on looking for toys for an angel tree adopt a child project and Toys for Tots.

  46. Dwumartin

Any stores in charlotte NC been checked. I hate to drive 45 minutes and find nothing.

  47. Alexandra

Columbus, OH stores got cleared out of ours already ( I work at TRU) everyone snagged ’em yesterday and we were supposed to pull them for donation to charity.
There were also still HAlloween outfits that were ringing up too for 3cents.

Don’t get mad at the cashier, it’s the MGMT that makes the call, and you can always speak directly to MGMT. There’s a lot of ‘seasonal hires’ working retail this time of year, so I urge compassion and understanding as much as can be spared when checking out on Registers. Let’s try to make any incidents a ‘teaching’ experience, and not a ‘telling’ experience. Much Thanks Colin

    • Happymama

Thanks for your perspective! Sometimes we get so wrapped up in that next great deal, we forget cashiers are just doing their jobs. We all SHOULD use compassion and put ourselves in others’ shoes. Well said…thanks!

  48. mamah63020

Anyone know if this is running in the St. Louis region? I would love to stock up on clothes before baby #2 is here in March. Thanks

  49. Karma Austin

Two weeks ago, Reston, VA area; rattle marked 3 cents, rang up that way, clerk laughed with us and we took it home…

  50. Britt

I’m I’m STL and they pulled them off the shelves and donated
