Who doesn’t love waking up to a warm Pop-Tart occasionally?!

We recently heard that Taylor Swift loves baking Pop-Tarts. According to USAToday.com, she recently made the Chiefs football offensive line homemade Pop-Tarts. I mean, what can’t she do?! Even the brand reached out to her over Instagram to ask for her recipe. While we don’t know all the details about her Pop-Tarts yet, I am sharing an easy hack for making DIY Pop-Tarts at home today!

Use store-bought pie dough to make Pop-Tarts as an easy method!

The result is a flaky pastry tart filled with strawberry preserves and a strawberry glaze topped with sprinkles. The best part is that this takes minutes to compile with just a few easy ingredients! I opted for my favorite strawberry flavor, but the possibilities for flavors are endless. You could experiment with blueberry preserves, Nutella, or even apple or cherry pie filling, to name a few yummy variations.

I have made these a few times for my family over the years, and they have always been a hit!

Extra tips for making this homemade Pop-Tarts recipe :

  • Be sure not to overfill the tarts with filling to avoid it from spilling out.
  • I was able to cut 8 rectangle pop-tarts from my pie crusts. I had to hand roll out the scraps to be sure I utilized it all. You could always make them larger or smaller. You could use a large heart-shaped cookie cutter instead. So fun!
  • I have made these in the air fryer before. Cook at 360 for about 8-9 minutes until golden brown. Depending on your basket size, you will have to do several batches.

I’ve heard puff pastry works well too.

Such a fun idea! I imagine you could use homemade pie dough if you wanted to as well. I think I’m making these for Easter for my daughters and husband!
